    A couple of years ago I lined a large building with 3/8" plywood. I used a 18v jigsaw to cut out the holes for outlet and switch boxes. Lots of them. Man I would have liked to have had this tool for that job! To mark the box, then plunge and cut to the lines without having to drill starter holes would be awesome and this is a lot quieter than the jigsaw and wouldn't bang against the wood while you are cutting.

    Appreciate the review, but I own an earlier model of one of these and I think you’ve missed the point of it. I’ve had no problem using it to cut thick branches on bushes and to cut smaller branches on trees.
    With the saw you used as a suggested alternative, while it may cut better, it uses more of your energy pulling back and forward on it. With this EasyCut, it doesn’t. That’s the whole point of power tools vs manual tools.
    Another use I have for this… When I’ve got long pieces of wood or branches that I want to dispose of, this tool helps to quickly and effortlessly cut the wood and branches into smaller pieces, so that I can fit those pieces into smaller bags or waste bins or recycling boxes.
    Maybe don’t buy this as a finishing tool to create pretty cuts and perfectly straight edges. It’s ok when you want to do small projects and don’t mind a more casual finish. Because of the EasyCut’s virtues as a relatively lightweight, free-hand and cordless tool, buy it for making light work of quick-and-dirty jobs. It’s perfect for that.

    • @penttijakonen3817
      @penttijakonen3817 3 роки тому +1

      Completely agree. Seems like all reviewers use this tool in a wrong way and miss the idea entirely. Would I buy one? No because I don't have to do tasks where this could be used effectively. But I can still see this being great in the garden.

    • @Pro1er

      I bought one of these when it first came out and his review is spot-on. This is nothing more than a novelty item, an expensive novelty item at that. If you want a saw for pruning, a one-handed sawzall is a *_much_* better option. You can also buy a "real" mini chainsaw for half the price of the Bosch and it will work far, far better.

  • @wupme
    @wupme 5 років тому +28

    While it is not powerfull and more of a novelty item. Its nice for cutting of branches on trees.
    And NO you don't need to apply force to it, thats why you cut is so poor.... no saw needs force to push the blade into something.

    you are not a handyman my friend you are chocking this little saw, never push on a saw let it do it's cutting without force, second put the two by four flat and let the base plate of the saw sit flat on top and third you have to be reasonable with any tool and learn their limitations this little guy is great if you use it properly.

    (Slightly off-topic) I have just ordered the AdvancedCut 18. That is the 18V sibling of this 12V EasyCut, and it features a brushless motor. Both are reviewed on the MrHandwerk channel (in German), but not in relation.
    Most cuts there are performed using two hands, but seldom pressing. That's better!
    I gradually changed my mind from "useless toy" to "maybe" regarding this EasyCut 12, then watched reviews of that AdvancedCut 18. Its brushless motor appeals to me, as it indicates some seriousness. Remarkably, it is listed to weigh less than the EasyCut 12 without battery, but more with battery. I ordered the box with additional blades and a 4Ah spare battery, figuring that if I should start using the thing seriously, I'd prefer a serious battery attached.
    Currently I'm more of a collector than a user, but I see use for the NanoBlade in cramped situations where neither a short recipro saw nor a plunge blade (fitted at angles) on an oscillating multitool would fit.
    QUESTION: Has anybody understood the difference between the Speed and Basic blades? Please answer if you have. (I can't draw it from the NanoBlade webpage of Bosch nor from the product pages of Amazon. Moverover, Basic is considerably more expensive than Speed.)

    As a finish carpenter, I thought it would be useful for small square holes, like electrical boxes in finish trim, using the tip to plunge and make square corners, would be good. I never imagined you would use it to prune trees or cut framing lumber, that’s dumb

    I bought one last year, It's nothing more than a novelty item, but after watching the infomercial I knew that going in. The only real complaint I have is the cost of the replacement "blades" are way too high. Other that that it makes for a nice conversation piece.
    BTW, you're pushing way too hard on the saw, the chain has extremely tiny teeth and it takes time to make a cut.

  • @AquaTech225

    Work’s crazy good on Sheetrock. Every once in a while I’ll use it for smaller wood pieces instead of the oscillating multitool.
    Otherwise I use it to break down boxes. More specifically the really dense non corrugated cardboard. Works wonders.
    It is an extremely limited extremely limited niche market. Due to most task have a better more specific use tool to accomplish it.
    It was a cool thought outside of the box by them more than anything. I definitely give them credit for that much. An that more that anything was the reason I purchased it.
    Had money to spare it was a tax write off also an picked one up. It’s more of a novelty tool being most jobs have a more specific tool for the whatever task that does a little or better.

    I use it to cut the top of my hornbeam hedge where there is not much space. A normal hand saw or bayonet saw is almost impossible to use as the branch you are sawing on is too flexible and gives way. A normal saw pushes and pulls and for the branch to shake, chain saws do not.
    Maybe little over priced but works fine for me. I have a bosch nanoblade advancedcut 18 volt because I have 18 v series and it is stronger than the 12v. A new blade is a bit expensive and i dont know how long a blade last.

    Wonder if would perform differently with the correct battery

    • @chrislaarman7532
      @chrislaarman7532 4 роки тому

      @kristen denison: I think so. I don't know about other vendors, but (at least with the blue Professional product line) Bosch puts some logic board in their power tools, batteries and chargers that enables them to communicate. The tool and the charger know about the type and state of the battery, the battery knows about the charger and the demands of the power tool. So if the products of the green and the power product line are "on speaking terms", there should be no difference. But I'm under the impression that they aren't. They have separate websites too. (Bosch uses standard battery cells from Asia, but adds that little logic board.)
      The source of my battery knowledge is mostly UA-cam, especially some channels in German. Bauforum.tv (channel, UA-cam has converted the name to link to their website rather than the channel) features a two-part visit (some two years ago) to the developers at Bosch. There is also some video (in English) on another channel where somebody disassembles a Bosch battery.

    As far as I can tell this tool is first of all for consumers and therefore has some other goals in mind. More specific it's aimed at women consumers, people with arthritis and others not used to hard psysical labour. It seems like it's goal is limited effort and more satisfaction doing small jobs. Not precise cutting and a fast pace, as most craftmen would like.
    I think this tool should be compared with a knife or a saw with small teeth in the hands of an inexperienced user or one with limited strength. As far as I can tell people who got this tool and have the challenges I've mentioned has been very happy and are able to do tasks, that they hasn't done for years.
    This tool should be reviewed by the target group and let them tell whether this tool is making their lifes better.
