Great video on a topic that seems like it should be so simple but is so often left overlooked or unexplained. There's endless videos/info on interesting progressions or voicings but so little on small things like these tips that actually make the chords sound more interesting.

One of the best tips I have had.Tried it on the piano and what a difference it has made. The diatonic takes a bit of practice but we’ll worth it.Sounds so much more professional. That very much NOAH

Great video ! It would be interesting some exercises to learn step by step this technique. For example starting from diatonic motion with triad and so on. For me, the most challenging thing is to practice the correct "fingering"...

Oh this is fantastic! I watched this when it came out and saved it and it slipped my mind. Freaking game changer Noah! Thank you so much!
One question if you don’t mind.
Would other modes work in certain situations? And for dominant chords would this same theory apply with the diminished or augmented scales?
Away from my piano for a few days so just dying to get back to it with some new tricks!

I watch many of your vids (& signed up for some special courses over the past year) but this one really hit a chord (!) with me Noah! I was away from jazz & even piano for many years, but now working hard to pursue some playing & composing dreams. Kept being drawn to trying harmonies in both hands, or like 2 complementary melodies? But I was just stabbing around, so your great vid was key -- I need to start out by framing the outer notes and work on those ideas inside the lines - LOL! Not only easier, but should sound a whole lot better as well, haha! I am on the waiting list and VERY excited about the new course!
P.S. True confession, focused the past year building first home studio from scratch, 1st DAW, first Mac, which hardware to buy, etc. So much to learn & research - also obsessed over how to get the most realistic but AI type backing band - lol - sick of always playing solo! Finally focusing on the studying, practicing & playing part! And thank you SO very much for sharing that you were very pleased with the Pianoteq modelled vst pianos app. No doubt the best software pianos I've ever played, & with my weighted keyboard, so realistic, & inspires me to play more! Has many added features & special effects without having to know, or learn much. Also the best Rhodes' I've played, along with the killer grands! So customizable, & didn't chew up half my external SSD, OR a sizeable chunk of cash!
