- Today we're kicking off the new series where we highlight you guys getting up in graffiti! This series will focus on graffiti throwies tags and pieces done on walls that you guys submit. Today we plenty of you guys did some great work, especially Mute, who's throwie really stuck out to me. He had clean letters with plenty of flow that really showed his experience getting up.

here is a link to the book for you. This digital sketchbook is for photoshop and procreate. Download the file that is compatible with your program, and open it in the program to begin drawing. Once you've drawing inside, you can export your drawing as a JPG or PNG, and email it to the artist block. We'll take the drawing and put it into our sketchbook and update the files in link above. We also have a PDF version of the book that anyone can download to look at other peoples work.

Keep in mind, there are multiple file types, download the one that works for your software as some are for photoshop, and some are for procreate

Ive been stuck on trying to make a throwie, i feel its because of the last 3 letter of my name, which is ODO. They are almost the same, and i cant find a way to make it work, or make it so the letter look seperate do you have any tips?? Also i would change my name but it has alot of meaning to me so i would rather not.
OK, so first I'd like to start by saying NEVER at any point in your graffiti journey change your name because something is hard. Every name has their challenges and hurdles you'll have to overcome. This is only one of the many hurdles you'll face, but to get past this, the solution is always the same. Learn the fundamentals. The more you learn then the more capable you'll become. That leads us to our tip.
Study tags because while this may seem unrelated, tags will teach you more about the letters structure, and each letters function with certain parts of their anatomy. Since your o and D are so similar, we have to make sure we emphasize the stem of the D as this is a defining structure point. You don't need much either, you just need to see a little of the stem to know its straight and not curved. From there, you can emphasize the negative space in the D making sure it's a fully drawn closed counter, while making sure the O use a line or symbol to indicate its counter (you can swap how you treat the counters for the letters, so long as the D is different). Lastly you can give the D a slightly more flat top, while keeping the O rounded and simple.
Now keep in mind these are only suggestions. There is countless solutions for the issue you're having but ALL of these solutions require you to study and practice the basics more. If you don't study and practice then you won't be able to effectively implement any of these solutions, not even the ones I suggested. Regardless, keep practicing this name, don't change it

lol suki is my dads name. the intention is for the second book to be my brother's tag name and the third will be my tag name. 3 Books, 3 generations of graffiti artists lol

2:42 - people not into graff don't know how common that is.. roaches, spiders, whatever - all appear to be liking the smell of paint [sometimes they can be spared, but all situational obviously]
yeah on this wall there were so many I didnt mean to paint over that 1 but especially when I was doing the mulch they were flinging everywhere
