Thank you for this video! I just bought a used Precor 546i and made the exact same noise (your older video) when I got it home and set it up. Didn't make noise when I trialed it before buying. It totally sounded like the rear belt but I couldn't make sure until I saw this. Going to try the belt dressing today.

Yup. The noise is nothing more than a dry belt. The narrow, rear-most belt (of two for this model 546i) is sticking just slightly to the pulley as it pulls away when turning. You can feel the vibration on the belt as it "pops" off the pulley contiguously. Prestone belt dressing da fix.

    Prestine? I think it's Prestone.

What kind of Precor do you have. I sell belts.

Belt dressing is temporary fix - noise almost always comes back in short time. Belt dressing is not intended for this kind of belt. Dry belt is old belt - just replace with new and problem solved.

@The Orange Man Always Wins that is a lubricant, it will make the belt slip with each footfall on a treadmill. No amount of slipping should be tolerated in a treadmill application. Squeaks usually indicate a dry/worn belt. Virtually ALL of the squeaky or slipping belts I come across are worn in 1 of 2 ways: ribs are all cracked and will soon start falling apart. OR the ribs have worn down so much the pulley is slipping severely on the band material, with much of the rubber lost. Adding a lubricant like MMO will just accelerate the breakdown of the belt and/or make it slip more. This is not a solution at all. Replace worn belts.
