Hello.🌺 Japan is famous for the righteous "samurai," "bushido," "ninja," "shogun," and "Zatoichi" who avenge evil, but there are also "hissatsu shigotonin" who assassinate unforgivable evil people.
Okinawa is a beautiful place, and it was not historically a part of japan. Okinawa Prefecture is essentially the Ryukyu Kingdom, with a distinct culture, language, and people. When I see it labeled as japan, with a japanese flag, it makes me very uncomfortable. Okinawa has its own flag, if you can find it, please post that instead. It's not right that japan takes credit for the Ryukyu Kingdom's rich culture and beauty. People think Karate is japanese but it was developed by the Okinawans to defend themselves against the japanese. Okinawa is not japan.
My wife and I visited our son (Air Force) in Okinawa this year. Wow! Never going back to Hawaii!! Beautiful, uncrowded beaches, shopping, and the food was amazing. Lodging is cheap, clean.Learn a few Japanese greetings will make the locals day. Most restaurants have English menus. You can walk the streets at night, felt very safe. Going back for sure.
I was fortunate to live in Okinawa for 2 years while in the Air Force. It is a very beautiful place with tons of new things to see every day, and has a very laid-back island vibe. Definitely recommend. Oh, and the surfing is great!
Great video! Just wanted you to know recently I was helping a friend in the hospital, and as they were resting (in pain) I was watching one of your videos (in March & on my phone) and they asked me to turn it up because the sound of Chris’ voice and the music was helping them feel better!!! You two bring joy to so many, and some in bad situations who just need a break. Keep up the great work, love Carol’s new swimsuit!!!
youtube algorithm got me here. In okinawa, ishigaki and miyako islands are very popular so this place must be little bit of hidden gem. thank u for sharing
Such a beautiful island and yes it does look a lot like our US Virgin Islands! ❤ So glad the Tsunami warning was just a precaution…was a little nervous for you guys!😬
🩵🩵 thank you Chris and Carol for another great video! The island looks beautiful. It’s too bad. The water is so cold. Looking forward to your next video.
I arrived on Okinawa in June, 1974 and within two weeks we were hit with 3 typhoons! But, no biggie, the buildings were made to survive! Got married in Naha later that year. My husband got his scuba certifications while stationed on Kadena. Hope you get to visit the North of the island.
This time in Taiwan, except for a teacher who went back to the building to save her dog, the other victims were all hit by falling rocks! Due to the experience of the last earthquake, Taiwan was fully prepared. Fortunately, there was no serious disaster like the last time, and no tsunami occurred! The mandarin characters next to the statue show 龍宮神, which means the god who protects the sea! Tattoos are taboo in Japanese hot springs. The reason is just as you said, the concept that "tattoos equal bad behavior" is still deeply rooted in the hearts of Japanese people. The second reason is that tattoos are considered to be wounds made by sharp objects. Soaking the wounds in hot spring pools will give an unhygienic impression. Therefore, the traditional Japanese concept strictly prohibits tattoos from entering the baths. That beach is so beautiful and the water is very clean! Ryukyu is a great tourist island, I’m glad you went there! Thanks a lot for sharing, really super great job! 👍😍👏
Thanks for all the info, indeed their preparation with the infrastructure has saved many many lives :D. I read that the deadly one in Syria & Turkey was a similar magnitude but over there around 60,000 died because so many buildings collapsed
I respect traditions but there's a lot of reasons like this (as someone that does tattoo modeling) why I think aside from food and maybe some history that Japan is overrated, I'll stick to watching through videos. Even a lot of their rules in the gyms aren't even worth going to
There is one more reason about hot springs ! People with tattoos have a higher risk of getting infections than others because their skin is weakened or they have scars. The shops that operates the hot springs refuses to use them to avoid risk. sorry, my english not good. 我為 🇹🇼 加油 !!
I used to work there as a guide till 3years ago. I really recommend to join boat snorkel. Or scuba diving if you have padi license. There are heaps of things to see. But just put sunscreen!! And care about wild animals🤙🏽
We came to this exact same spot last year! It was our favourite place in Japan, absolutely beautiful island! 😍 Sylvie also had a swim even though the water was cold. Would love to go back
@@JumpingPlaces I would also like to experience the north (Niseko - Hokkaido, Japan) for skiing and snowboarding! :) Hopefully you guys go there as well so we can see how to get there from Tokyo :) Cheers from NYC!
I use to live and work there as Sea Kayak Guide. So many days the company would cancel tours even though the sea was so calm and such beautiful weather. This is due to strong currents in between all the small islands. They become very dangerous and thats why these islands are so strict about letting people swim or snorkel themselves. Beautiful islands to visit in Japan but I missed having the 4 seasons so moved back to Kyushu (also have beautiful beaches here too)
People living in Tokyo are mostly office workers or shop workers, so they usually don't have tattoos that might frighten others. But in beach resorts, there are more surfers, fishers, and farmers who depend on just themselves, and need not worry about their appearances so much as they do in big cities.
Wife and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency for ¥119,00, USD $800 for four days in late March. The luxury and quality was above our expectations. Seven other travelers returned to the island where we graduated high school in 1971. We had a fabulous time! We had a teacher sponsor us to get to Kubasaki High School. There are so many Ryukyu attractions we never saw a school children and were amazed how much more we learned of the culture we missed out on by staying mainly on the bases there. Beautiful shots you have of all your Japan travels! Thank you 27:54
I knew it was time for a beautiful beach! And what a beach! 😍 Tsunami alert must’ve been worrying for you all….it didn’t do much for my blood pressure either! Glad all is well 🤗

Also, it is easy to translate Japanese text on a cell phone using the Google Translate App. Also, most people in Okinawa can understand some English and will try to help you. Okinawa is a really safe place. Even strong nearby earthquakes are rarely felt in Okinawa. Tsunamis are less likely to be severe due to the deep ocean surrounding the islands. The buildings and infrastructure are built to survive the annual onslaught of typhoons. I should also mention that Okinawa lacks public transportation because they prefer driving their own cars. (Maybe that's due to the many years that the US occupied Okinawa after WW II.)
I live on the main island of Okinawa, where Naha Airport is located, and watching the drone footage of the surrounding islands allowed me to appreciate the beauty of the small islands once again. 🌺Thank you! Please also introduce islands with fewer tourists🌺, such as Yoron Island🏝, Izena Island🏝, Iheya Island🏝, Ie Island🏝, Minna Island🏝, Aguni Island🏝, and Tonaki Island🏝 Yoro iskand🏝.

Earthquakes occur frequently in Japan. Japan is constantly preparing for earthquakes, so up to a seismic intensity 5 class earthquake, there won't be major disruptions, except for some transportation disruptions. However, if the seismic intensity is 6 or 7 class, the shaking will be so strong that the damage will be even greater. It is better to evacuate to a safe place after the shaking has subsided. Also, regarding tsunamis, if an ocean trench-type earthquake occurs in Japan or neighboring countries, tsunamis may wash over coastal areas, so if a warning is issued, it is necessary to evacuate to a higher place immediately. In any case, we recommend always carrying plenty of snacks and water when traveling to Japan.

I knew you two would find your way to a beach somehow!
Many to choose from here 😊
Stayed here for a few days August last year. The water temperature was 31 degrees C. A lot more people then, but not over crowded. Thanks for the memory. Cheers from Waiheke Island. Aotearoa, NZ.
Leave it to Chris and Carol to find the most beautiful beach, no matter what part of the planet!
Great video again guys!! Definitely my favorite channel on UA-cam. Especially, and i hope you don't mind me saying this Chris 😂, when Carol's in a bikini!
Wow!!The reality of living on an island that is in a high risk part of the world for tsunamis. Incredible. They are very organized and advanced in Japan for it though.
There’s people who live in NY, SF, Chicago, Portland etc where you have way more danger every day than some possible tsunami
That tropical fruit is Pandanas from the Pandanas tree. People eat it, but some species of it are toxic. Looks great. Amazing
You came to Okinawa at the time of the Taiwan earthquake!
If you don't understand Japanese, the sound of sirens must have been terrifying!
Nice beautiful Okinawa, the Tsunami was a scary moment, as usual beautiful drone shots!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for the great video! I love traveling in Okinawa. You should avoid the rainy season, May.
I hope you go to Ishigaki and surrounding islands ❤
Agree.
Really fabulous, did not expect Okinawa to have such amazing beaches ☀️👙
This island is incredible.
your wifey looks awesome, japan is really awesome
