What a cracking video glen. And it's always nice when you get to take a swipe at people. Not that you do!😮😂 Plus I swear you are some kinda devil anyway 666 degrees. Your products are fantastic and I commend you for the price of them aswell. I've never used easy wood tools but no allot of people who do but there sponsored by them so they won't have to worry. Just incase you don't no. There mid size range for set of 3 is 329 but yours are 80-120 am sorry but there is no comparison in my eyes especially that you can roll yours and use them flat. I think your stuff is amazing and I'm proud to own them and am promoting yours to any turner I meet 🏴👍
Thanks Michael. Some manufacturers are out-pricing themselves. Things have gone up in price drastically in the last couple of years. People just can't afford that kind of money. We believe in quality that is affordable. That's why I show affordable ways of doing things. Things you can make yourself. They are making it a rich man's sport.
@@glennteagleofukwoodcraftca5308 they sure are. I need to find a good set traditional gouges but even they aren't cheap. It's certainly becoming more and more expensive to get into. But like I said you guys offer amazing products at cracking prices and top quality. Looking forward to hopefully winning the mask today. 🏴👍
Glenn & Liza what a great wee pencil pot and some great info, by the way I have had three mails saying I am a winner, so I hope you have enough masks buddy. Lol
I watched the Easy Wood video and thought of you ….. felt I knew exactly how you would comment! The carbides I have are from another company and I realized quickly, why I could not make the cuts you do …. The bar prevents you from riding the bevel. I plan on giving it a try to reshape the ends of the bars to make the tools more useful! Happy belated Birthday ….. Glad it was a good one 🤠🇨🇱
It was actually pointed out to me by other people. They thought Easy Wood were talking about me because I'm always saying about rolling the tools over, riding the bevel and don't use them flat. I don't see personally how little old me over here in the UK could be bothering Easy Wood Tools. EZ Tools who are also based in the USA, made a comment on Facebook, stating that people using carbides should watch my channel.
Happy belated birthday Glen yet another great piece and demonstration. I was actually intrigued with the basket weave burning, too. I have a Myford Ml8, would be interested to get one of your indexing tools if you make them.
Thank you so much. It's a shame you cant export the tools to Australia, but I understand. Your demonstration of changing and using the level has been so helpful.
Brilliant vid my wife would love a project like colouring those in as she is disabled and has to much time on her hands so i would be interested in your indexing system as i recon they would sell on a craft market as we are thinking of doing one, as our house is full of wood stuff i have made following your vids and some of it has to go.
Do your bars come as you show in the vid (might have missed it if you said they do)? I bought easy woods small set when I started No idea how to use them correctly until I started watching your vids, was worried about blunting them to quickly and having to buy more seeing as they could not be sharpened as per easy woods advice But you have shown me the light lol' Great vid again guys Yes from me re the indexing system
Some I said I have shamfered back more to do certain jobs for myself. The ones sold have to be suitable for everybody. They are ground to do what I say they can do. The Standard Type 3 set I use on the channel is exactly what you get. Noted about the index system. When I have made some I will let you know. You will need to tell me your swing over your lathe (height from lathe bed to centre of your centre) and the thread size. Orders will then be taken. Can you email me this info to glen.teagle@sky.com
I think you are right it is your tool change it. To give EasyWood tools the benefit of the doubt, people get offended and sue over the smallest thing maybe that is why they are like that. As far as their cutters go they are yours now so try sharpening them to see if it works. I have the 3 tool set not yours but a maker here in the states and since I have been watching your videos I may be sliding to the dark side. I am happy with the fit and finish of my tools but I can see changes now. My round cutter the bar follows the bevel of the cutter so I have been getting great finishes like you teach. My square cutter bar needs some work as the bottom of the bar sticks out too far to rub the bevel. I think making the bar angle the same as the cutter bevel would solve that. The rub comes with the detail tool. the sides follow the cutter bevel angle ok but leaves a knife edge at the tip. I don't want any trade secrets as that is your business, but maybe you can tell me if I am on the right track. I have a diamond plate and a sharpening jig for chisels and plain irons. You know the one with wheel on the bottom and you slide the chisel in or out to get the angle. I though I could put my detail bar and cutter in it and use a protractor to get the angle I want by sliding the tool I or out as needed. Work the tool over the diamond plate till the cutter has the right bevel then remove the cutter and grind the bar on the grinder to get the right clearance . I will let you know how it goes. Toodle pip.......ha ha
Glenn, i have a cheap set of carbides i bought when i started, behind the cutters to bar is square, would you suggest grinding some material off the back, if you know what i mean? Currently saving for a set of your carbide tools, i was hoping to make mine a bit more usable in the meantime. Thanks
Glenn a question if I may. I have an axminster 406 laithe and I was wondering if that's what you are using. Why I ask is that I hate the indexing system it has is somewhat questionable. So, the system you are using just looks so simple and so affective. I've tried to make one but with no success and I've no idea why. Did you mill yours yourself.
Yes, mine is the version before yours, but they are the same. yes I milled it myself. It's not easy as you can appreciate. I am awaiting an order for steel plates to arrive, then I will be making some to sell, so if you are interested in one.
Watched a demo tonight and yet again the turner was saying carbides only scrape, not as sharp as trad tools, can’t get as good a finish etc etc. Tried to put him right but he wasn’t having it. Shame ‘cos he was only a young guy.
Are your tools for sale anywhere? WOOD love to purchase them. Thank you Darren
Only on my website. www.ukwoodcraftandcarbidechisels.co.uk available for post to UK only.
Great looking pot.

Thanks.

When I have decided to do some I will let you know. What is the thread size and swing over the lathe?

where you get that magnetic light? The link just goes to another youtube site...
Gave the details in another video. See link ua-cam.com/video/7pyUIQkWcIA/v-deo.html

I can't say to grind your tools. All I can advise is that you make them work for you. I can't advise on other people's tools I'm afraid.
