Happy 31st birthday Macross (last month). I can't believe is so long since I saw it for the first time in 1985 when it got aired for the first time here in Mexico. My life hasn't been the same since then. Loved how the series evolved. And Macross F movies were so nostalgic and filled with memories of the older ones, in the songs and in the characters.
I bought the remastered ones on dvd ages ago now and have it all backed up digital but I wouldn’t mind seeing a redo in a modern animation style. Don’t feel it craps on the original.
Still makes me sad too watch Roy die again, this was the first real anime I actually watch as a child, still got all the VHS tapes I could find with danish language on, and the remaster DVD edition, and the action figures. If they remade this with this level of quality I would wipe in tears. There is still the Live action movie that they are making, but since its Hollywood they will do the same as they did with transformers and dragon ball...... I fear

OMG OMG OMG!!! I have been searching for the dog fighter music for many many years. its not on any of the vast American or Japanese soundtracks I've bought. Finally hearing it clean and full length, I can now put one life goal to rest. UA-cam, ist there anything thou doth not possess :-)
That is the beauty of Macross. Always the perfect music for each of the series and movies. From the 80s romantic vibe of Macross DYRL?, the vocals and electronic from Plus, the awesome Rock from M7, the modern pop of Frontier combined with the old themes now singed by the new generations and those played by the characters, such as Osma when he played Firebomber in his radio, Sheryl and Ranka singing as Lovely Bomber at Alcatraz.
OMHG, after watching the entire season of Macross Season 1 including Do You Remember Love?, I absolutely love and enjoy the storyline and characters so much, it was absolutely awesome to watch!!! And I also love seeing the blu-ray music clips of the series in this nice high quality too- OMHG, it looks so amazing and so incredible!!!! If they make another reboot of the Macross Season 1 series, I want them to do it like that too, I just love how it looks!!!!!

That was a movie, not a OVA.... And that he chose Hayase is something that i loved. Minmay never had any romantic feelings for him through the whole series. Even at the end she still didn't love him, she just wanted him to be her support.
After they spent a lot of time together she said LIVE ON TV that Hikaru was only a FRIEND. He was watching while being friendzoned in front of the entire Macross population. That bitch should have died in the end.

yeah i agree when i watched this video music, i think kawamori wanted this a la Macross Flashback 2012 OVA, it's a nice compilation; specially with one of Macross legendary BGM like Dog Fighter (Skull team fighting the Zentraedis in Space was freaking cool). Ok well now i will play Do yo remember love (Ps1 game) and Macross (ps2) again =)

It is remade. The BD release is a 2012 anniversary version that is completely remade with that animation. But if it is the same as Yamato 2199 then it will have some new scenes and some are gone. After watching this you can see that it looks like Hikaru is in the movie with Minmay, and he is at the release with her too, while in the original it´s her cousin that´s acting with her and he meets Hayase at the release.
Did they redraw the whole thing with modern rendering? It looks completely different from the original hand-drawn celluloid-based version, yet it looks like they modeled it to look exactly like the original.
no matter the quality or how many retelling of macross. it will always be breath taking and emotional. i wish that there was another series after frontier and the great mystery of what happened to ichijoji ( i know that i messed up the name) and misa after macross sentinels ( dont be hating its been a while since i've watched macross in order) i have heard that they get ate by a black hole and others say they went underground after genesis climber mospeda.
