- "The Walking Dead" mid-season premieres is Sunday at 9 p.m. on AMC. This segment aired on the KTLA 5 Morning, News, Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
With the loyalty Chandler demonstrated to the show and cast, he deserved a better sendoff than AMC gave him. Shame to them.
frisco21 To be fair, we haven’t even seen the send off yet. So just wait. Apparently from critic reviews, Carl has one of the best, saddest send offs yet.

only three years have passed by in the show???? FOR REAL? I thought it was WAY MORE YEARS. I mean....Carl has surely grown a lot, it got out of hands of the producers if that's the case.
The Tv show is actually only 1.7 years in. It's hard to believe as it feels like 5 years but Carl is actually 14 in the show.

1:45 is so sad.. Chandler looks and sounds like he's forcing himself not to cry. It's very obvious from interviews, his comments and everything that he didn't want to leave the show and this was an unwelcome surprise . I feel so badly for him, but I think he's going to do very well in his career going forward.

Actually, I heard last year that it was going to happen because he wanted to go to school. Him saying in this video that it was for the best for him and the show that it is happening. So he wants to branch out with school/music. I wouldn't feel too bad for him.

Scott gimple just killed the show. This was the cherry on top from the mistakes he has made before. Our beloved series probably has 2 years left.

Honestly this show should already be cancelled. Season 7 was horrible and even though I haven't seen season 8, but I just don't see how they will turn it around from how bad season 7 was. Negan is literally the one of the WORST villains in TV history.

seasons 1-6 were amazing + episodes 1-4 and the finale of season 7 other than that it went downhill from there carl leaving didn't kill the show though he was a vital part of the story going forward when they announced that andrew was leaving and lauren (temporarily) i thought it was done for but season 9 has actually been pretty great

I am unable to accept Carl's death. Chandler said "It's definitelly going to happen" and I'm still like.. "hope never dies.." I'm so fool, hoping that he 'll come out alive, but ... you know. I'm just denying what is happening. I don't even know if I'll keep watching the show because all the most interesting characters (and storylines) have died. nothing makes sense to me anymore. I can't even imagine this show without Carl. Am I the only one?

I'm gonna miss him so much! Chandler is such a fantastic actor and I'm really looking forward for any new project.

By getting rid of Carl and Maggie, yes that is going to happen, they are starting a steady decline of removing the old cast. I have no idea why this is a horrible move and it's going to cause the show to plummet it further in ratings. You can't take a show story or movie that people have been dedicated to for 8 years or longer and start the s*** all over the main characters. why don't you might as well just take Star Wars and remove Han Luke Leia and...oh.......

Matt Lees...it's not the "starting of a steady decline," it's the continuation of a slide that's been happening since at least Season 7. The idea that killing off beloved characters will boost ratings is one of the most moronic things imaginable. Eliminating Hershel, Abraham, Glenn and others --- these were mistakes that are now being compounded with the loss of Riggs and probably Cohan, and the coming defections of other prominent cast members (and they are coming) will seal the show's fate. It didn't have to be this way, but the utter ineptitude of the production people --- and AMCs unwillingness to invest money in the show --- doomed it.
The show is not doomed yet. Losing Lauren Cohan would be a hard blow, hopefully they reach an agreement.
But losing Carl, there’s potential for new storylines. I feel badly for Chandler, and I hate how the execs treat the actors because this cast is incredible, but it’s sadly part of the business. I’ll continue watching because I’m invested in the characters and the story, and my love for the actors. Can’t just turn away from one of my favorite franchises. Can’t do that for Star Wars either, even after they botched everything Luke, Leia and Han fought for in the OT just to bring the Empire back again...

Michaeldisco98...Fans who are abandoning the show in the millions use the same logic, but with the opposite conclusion: they feel betrayed when characters they are invested in and have come to love are taken away simply because moronic producers think it will boost ratings. From the very first episode it was implicitly understood that Carl's purpose was to give hope for the future --- his survival promised that civilization had a fighting chance to come through the apocalypse and become resurgent. Removing Carl flies in the face of the show's fundamental theme. Killing Carl was a stupid, short-sighted decision which will succeed only in accelerating the declining viewership.

I am praying just that he is healthy and alive, we have already lost Cameron Boyce. Maybe he will get better roles, but please God, just that he is alive and healthy. The story Gimple gave was a lie. I thought from what he said that Chandler was going to college, not up and moving to LA. Obvs it was a total lie cuz Chandler is living in LA and acting/doing music. Gimple is an evil evil man and did the same bs to the actress who played Andrea, saying she was gonna marry Rick and be around indef...such lies! I wish Durabont was still in charge, back when the show was actually good. Maggie hoes and I'm out. The secondary cast is useless and I don't care about any of them. Just as an aside, Danai was amazeballs in that scene...she seems even more destroyed than Rick. So sad to see Chandler go but its prob best he escape that sinking ship b4 it goes down

The truth is Chandler was told he had three more years. He put off school for awhile because of what he was told. I guess he will pursue his music until he goes to school next year. I am so pissed at how he was treated. He's a better guy than me because I would be yelling the truth to the mountain tops. For me with Carl's death and the real possibility that Maggie is gone, I have no reason to watch. I think many will feel the same way. I have no connection with the secondary actors. AMC's biggest mistake was firing Durabont, the next was letting Gimple be show running because his "vision" of the show sucks, now killing off Carl for money and letting Maggie go for money the ratings will tank. AMC has really destroyed a great show.

I cry everytime I watch his death. The show died for me in that moment. Stopped watching it right from there and started watching Chandler's other works instead. I hope everyone does the same and not watch the walking dead anymore. like Negan said: "Punishment". SOSOSOSOSOSOSO sad
