Thanks Jeroen, I have developed a love for photographing our Kingfishers here in Australia. Elusive but rewarding when photographed well. Love your obvious passion and enthusiasm
Thank you for sharing your talent and kingfisher diving is so incredible .You are greatest wildlife photographer .A nature dacumantary is full of my mind and I happy to see nature dacumantary of kingfisher. Thank so much.
Glad you enjoyed it Levi! This year I will return to the kingfishers if they will breed again at the same location. Hopefully with better results, building on those from last year.
Thanks so much Robert! Saw your photos today. I have a few workshop days, will get back to you! At first glance: some awesome shots again! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for sharing the talents you've been blessed with! I just found my first Belted Kingfisher this summer by the river near our home in Minnesota. I was able to take a few horrible pictures, however I instantly fell in love with the birds. Thanks for the tips, I'll be out searching again, once it warms up next spring... God bless.
Thanks so much Kirk Asplin! Wish you a lot of luck and fun with these amazing birds :) Did you see the other kingfisher vlogs? Might have some useful tips for you :)
@@weylintracking-worldwide Yes I did watch at least one other kingfisher vlog of yours. Very helpful. I'll be trying the branch hanging over the water trick. In fact I think I watched about 15 of your videos (maybe more) last night. I'm addicted! 👍
Great playlist about my favorite bird. I hope to get some amazing shops this spring/summer. Hope the winter in southern Germany is not too hard that the kingfishers around my hometown survive. I hope to benefit from your great tips then.
Thank you for the amazing insight. Kingfisher Photography is so interesting, but for me it's hard to get atleast close enough for a normal shot. But I see your a real pro at this topic. Keep up the great work.
@@weylintracking-worldwide . Oh yes, they are around. Named Kawasemi (common Kingfisher)over here. I see them flying around but have not yet found one perching to hunt.
Excellent work. How did you find the location? Certainly a winner. Were you using the fixed camera for the later tight shots? If so, you should buy up lottery tickets!
Thank you Edward! This is in the garden of a friend. This episode is one from a series. Do check out the others for the full story! In the end I got a pretty good idea where the kingfishers were diving. So I zoomed in more, and just prayed that one would be in focus :) I will be back there next year if they are breeding again :)
Nice misty morning always a good start. I feel you need a fish tank sunk in a particular spot but don't kill any birds with the tank edges. I think I have seen all the conceivable possibilities now underwater catching fish, just breaking the water, fish pass, fish slap every photo is unique though great stuff, people must be appreciating all your efforts well done. Great shots in the end
Thanks Mark! I did not used a fish tank... So I had a lot of misses as they are diving all over the place... Have some AMAZING shots, but, they are not in focus... Hopefully next time! Oh, this is all still with the a7iii also. Imagine if I used the a7r4...
@@weylintracking-worldwide I was thinking about this problem Jeroen - I have put my idea in a sketch. It seems that the birds will dive to where they find fish easiest to see. By placing a large pale coloured tile under the perch to the distance you have set focus for it could help. There is no extra risk to the fish - it just makes the fish more visible to the hunter. i68.servimg.com/u/f68/12/66/16/43/annota96.png
Stunning, simply stunning. Really do appreciate the time and effort you put into your Vlogs it has been inspirational to me, makes me want to get off my arse and try out some ideas i have myself. Thank you. John
@@weylintracking-worldwide Oh urban foxes now there is something i hadn't really thought much about, yet again an inspiration, thank you sir. The necropolis is well worth a visit even if it is only for a walk around looking at the old gavestones, i think the cemetery dates back to about 1830ish not sure, and it is bound to have foxes somewhere can't be that old and not have life in it. ;) Take care
It's quite a special place... With a nice sunset or rise you might be able to get some really special photos of wildlife on a gravestone... Recently tried the same here. But the wildlife did not cooperate, haha. You might have seen the vlog :)
Great video, i have to go back and watch the others now!. What shutter speed speed brings on to much noise generally? Like over 1/2000th? Or is it just dependent on the other settings too? . A mate suggested noise removing software topazlabs makes. Might help.
Yes, flying birds something like 1/2000th of a second. The motion blur option of Topazlabs SharpenAI is awesome too! I have a video about that. It has a double bird head on the thumbnail. It includes a discount code so be sure to check it out!

@@weylintracking-worldwide I live in Iowa, the midwest in the states. I just looked it up. It said there should be Belted Kingfisher that pass through my area. I guess I will have to keep my eyes open. I would love to see and photograph one of these birds.
Hi Jerome, I to have a Miops they work fine under studio conditions as the laser target area is very small, also lasers seem to be unreliable as they seem to switch off by themselves, I use the Hahnel Cuptur Pro which comes with a IR transmitter and seems to trigger without any problem.
Awesome stuff Jeroen. May I know your settings for in-flight/diving shots? Also any tips will be appreciated. Im shooting handheld with the A7iii and have the 200-600 + 1.4 tc... there's a resident kingfisher in a huge pond area that dives in different spots..but I'm way too slow with diving and taking off (not sure when its going to take off and hands get tired after waiting). Portraits no problem.
I used so many settings Nehal... The thumbnail shot was much lower shutterspeed since the bird does not have a high speed yet. But 1/2000th is the minimum. Preferably higher depending on what kind of ISO you can accept...
Nehal, I'm trying to get the diving shot also using Sony gear. The A7 III does not have tracking but the less performant "Locked on AF". When you try to shot a small bird as fast as a kingfisher, you need al the AF capibilities your camera has, so I would advice to absolutely remove the tc. Not only the tc makes you loose detail and stop(s) of light, but what is more important here and certainly with the A7 III, you loose some AF performance.
'They' is just me Bernard :) I did so as I felt it was adding to the quality of the video. Not everything might suit everyone's taste. But I appreciate all feedback I get! As I DO try to learn and improve along the way :) Thanks for your feedback!
