Great video ! Thanks for such informative presentation ⭐️. Speaking of yellow fever vaccination, it’s a requirement to enter SL . Do customs officers really check any documentation for the yellow vaccination or no-one care ? also if to get that vaccination in the USA would that really prevent from getting yellow fever there? Is it really a “popular” illness in SL? Thanks ! And please do more videos of your day to day life with the family , places you go ,how you guys spend your free time , markets , shops , restaurants. How it changed you guys ! Hugs from America

Sorry for the delayed response! Wonderful question. So, in my experience it’s more likely that the airlines agent in the country you’re departing from will check to see if you have the Yellow Fever document. So you definitely want to have it with you just to make sure you don’t hit a complication with that. But you’re right, they don’t always check it at the SL airport. But Yellow Fever is actually not common at all in SL. The reason they require visitors to get the Yellow Fever vaccine is not because it’s common in SL but because they don’t want anyone bringing it in.

Thank you for the info , one more question , as a person who has a US passport, do I need to get a visa ahead of time or I can get it upon arrival to SL ? Thanks again.

Thank you for the video. I lived in Bo area last year and experienced several times of malaria. According to my observation, malaria is extremely dangerous to the new comers from foreign country because they usually mistook it as a cold or fever thus missed the best time of treatment. I heard of two death cases of someones my direct friends know. The frequency of getting malaria is higher than your estimation. In fact, one of my colleague got it almost every month and it came so accurate the same time that we teased him as his "period". Where did you buy the self test kit? I think it is very helpful --- once I went to hopital for malaria treatment, although I knew very sure that it was malaria, the doctor still went though a long process of tests which took 4-5 long hours --- you know it feels really bad when you are at 40 degree fever(honestly, I could not help thinking if i would die of malaria in Africa).

Yes, everyone’s experience with Malaria will vary some. Some people get it much more frequently than others. I got the self test kit at a local pharmacy in Bo. They sell it in a box of 50 test units. We’ve used about half of the box so far after only being here two years.
