For the rest of music, we will often, on an individual level, totally love something but find that not that many people share our feelings because they are different, after all. Usually the fact that people are different means they like something different, even if there are exceptions, and those exceptions become famous. Obviously if you want to support the artist you can with your own money, but only if other people happen to feel the same as you will she become especially famous. That's not right or wrong, nor is it mysterious, just people with different opinions making different choices about what they listen to and who they want to support. Your opinion doesn't spread like a virus to other people; they all independently, with their own personal criteria, form their opinion which could range anywhere from complete agreement to complete disagreement.
