When I first started watching this, I was expecting another "free" electricity video. Boy, was I surprised!! This is really quite brilliant, particularly using such basic tools and materials! With even the most basic 3D printer, I am sure that this gentleman would produce some awesome machines! Keep up the good work! 👍
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
was here to say the same....amazing!!
Excellent mind
Brilliant
@@Selfcrafts. very good this project would be able to make available in pdf the cuts of the assembly parts
Well done!! I'd suggest: 1) Locking between cuts, because the gear is rocking and so not all the teeth come out the same. 2) Making a replacement gear for the one at the bottom, for more precision. Making a ratchet for it is trivial. 3) Improving the shape of the disc so teeth look more like an involute and can mesh properly. 4) Rebuilding the machine in metal so that you can cut aluminium gears, maybe with a cordless drill motor (and it's gearbox), as PVC gears won't hold up very well under speed and load.
Ok thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ain't it just ain't it 😎
А по Русски слабо? 🤣🤣
Once you have the tool made, improving it becomes relatively easy as it can 'build itself' the parts needed increasing accuracy with each iteration.

I think the most valuable thing you have done here is to show people that it is possible for them to do it themselves. This simple machine could be used to cut gears in stronger plastics such as nylon or delrin to give real power handling gears. I believe that these plastics will be forgiving of the lack of precision, and gears made this way will at any rate be as good as injection moulded equivalents. Thank you for sharing this with us!
Thank you so much ❤️❤️
This can make factory be close, you so genius
This is a classroom machine if I’ve ever seen one. Kids would love to learn how to cut gears. And in the process, they’d learn about geometry. Hands-on is always the way to go.
Thank you so much.
What "kids" are capable of the math involved here do you mean "teenagers" ? as in 7th and 8th grade? because here in America they don't teach the applicable math until high school.
@@ryoung6730 I have years of experience as a classroom teacher. With children age seven to fourteen, the key to all activities is hands-on involvement.
Look: Kids don’t learn anything by just looking at a computer screen, and answering questions. It’s a complete waste of time.
With this gear-cutting machine, the first hundred exercises wouldn’t require any decision-making. The cuts are vertical, on blank wooden gears with lines printed on them. So the exercise just gives them practice in cutting. There’s nothing else. Then there are a a couple of hundred more exercises.
Twenty, just following the lines with a 90 degree angle cuts going-in.
Twenty just following the lines with a 45 degree angle cut going-in.
Twenty just following the lines with a 30 degree angle cuts going-in.
Twenty just following the lines with 90, 45, and 30 degree angle cuts mixed together. All going-in.
And finally, the whole process is repeated, but with the cuts angling outward instead of inward.
That program should take about six weeks. And the cutting can be done on a scroll saw with an angle-vice. The kids would learn how to use a scroll saw, how to recognize gear teeth, and how to set the angle of the cut. No math. That’s a beginning.

I feel humbled watching your video! I've always had a lot of ideas of things to make or create but always had in mind "if I only had this or that tool, I would realize my project". And here you are with some old scrap, some pieces of PVC and an amazing ingenuity creating complex devices from nothing. Great job man!
Thank you so much really love
This is fantastic work. I'm in awe about your ability. I thought I was good with making stuff, but you are way beyond me. Great respect from a German technician. My degree is Staatlich Geprüfter Maschinentechniker, which kind of translates as technical engineer. I believe half of my engineering classmates would not be able to build this incredible machine you made.
😍Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes he is genius
Dude, this is EPIC. I'm a gunsmith by trade which involves a lot of machining and this just reminded me how much I take for granted AND that even with having access to tools like a lathe, I don't know if could do what you did here. Amazing work man!
Thank you so much broo
You don't need lathe to create a somewhat perfectly round disk, just a dremel or dril that this guy obviously has.

Buddy you are an absolute legend, great way of thinking outside the box. Well done ,thank you.
thank you so much..
dude, this man is a genius, someone give him an award!
Ótimo trabalho, ótima ideia, parabéns 👏👏
I like the music!
Extremely GOOD and SMART tool!
Extremely GOOD and SMART author!
Absolutely fantastic how you can make something useful and accurate out of scrap. This man is a true technician.
At my age of 70 I am still working on a realistic electric locomotive and have been still working on it. This is my childhood dream and I am looking for certain machines for fabricating gears etc for that project.
I respect you.
Thank you so much for your reverence. Can you afford to to make one such gear making machine for me! I will bear the cost of its fabrication. Also post the video of the table saw which you have shown in the video of gear fabrication?
I also like to build things out of old "crap" (as other people call it), and this gave me a ton of ideas I would have never thought of. Very inspiring. Thank you!
thank you ❤️❤️
I love the ghetto recycling brilliance you show. I would *never* have though about building something like that. Bravo! Subbed.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
It's beautiful, I love the maths and the clarity in your calculations.
Thank you so much ❤️😍❤️
Біздің ауылдың балалары осындай нәрселерге қатты әуес! Қолдау керек ақ!
Awesome, extremely useful, I would not think of building something like this is your garage. Thank you very much !
Well come brother stay tuned
I have never seen such a video for making gears with precision. Its a great idea. I appreciate you👏👏👍 .
Thank you very much!
Молодец! Крутая штуковина!
GENIUS!
Jesteś genialny!
While I think this contraption is poorly made, it shows the principle on how a proper one would work. Its still great for what it is, really thought trough. Absolutely brilliant design in my opinion and I really want now to build one myself for making some plastic or even small bronze gears. I also think some parts could be easly 3d printed to make it more accurate.
Wow, Just wow. That was just fascinating to watch. The whole pile of scraps you put together into a robust, usable, and precision cutting machine... is just mind blowing to me. This was wonderful, thank you!
Well done, my friend, please keep it up
Thank you so much ❤️❤️
Appears to work great!
Gênio 👍
Awesome!
Wow the mind of a true engineer. I watched the whole video and didn't understand any of that let alone how you were able to imagine it into existence from spare parts! Impressive on a high level
Thank you
Brilliant!
Truly amazing and inspiring!
Thanks for the video!
Welcome bro
Can someone get this guy a machine shop?! Although the build process is pitiful the results are ingenious
It was created without planning.. Brother ... ❤️❤️thank you..
Or two machine shops?
People are there to criticize but few are there to appreciate the hardwork. Those who have adverse comment should have posted a neat job in this forum before commenting. Criticizing is easy but making it will be so difficult.
Really Love your comment. thank you so much,
Admirable amigo!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Well done!!
Pretty God damn impressive, great job!
Iki wong ngendi .....hebat tenannn....pingin ketemu wong sek ngene iki.
Imagine what a world we would achieve if more people were like this. Have moved from Denmark to Africa/west sahara so after 3 years I have learned not to throw anything out and trying not to be dependent on buying stuf but make and repair things myself with werry few tools.
Thank you so much
Loved the use of pvc.
Thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Men this is on another Level ohh.
Sorry I was slow... After the video started, I took 1.5 seconds to hit the subscribe button! Bloody genius!
thank you very much my friend ...❤️❤️😍😍
I also couldnt stop my finger from pressing the subscribe button!
If you can think of it n design it, you can make, this is is pure bliss
رائع جدا جدا كالعادة.
إنك فنان في علم التكنولوجيا الميكانيكية.
إلى حلقة قادمة.
You should be very pleased with your self for this! Having made a plastic one, you can then use it to make a metal one, and onward!
Ok friend ...thank you so much. ❤️❤️
Bom dia. Eu é que agradeço. Um trabalho muito engenhoso, parabéns. Você criou o novo mecanismo de Antissítera. Saudações do Brasil.
I am a career fabricator and amatuer mathamatician, you my friend, are a very talented individual even if you are just fabricating this by memory from what you have learned elsewhere it is an amazing feat of engineering and math. I could come close to recreating what you have done but it would not only take me weeks or months it would also be inferior to your casual efforts. amazing. One question though.. Why is someone like you posting videos on YT instead of applying yourself on a more serious level? your skillset would be an asset for so many, i hope someone watched this and is now employing you for real life earnings.
I respect you. the truth,I am in a country that does not give place to creativity. so this was the last choice. but i will try.thank you so much my friend.
Genial...!!....Saludosss.
Brawo, masz talent, pielęgnuj i go rozwijaj. Well done, you have talent, nurture and develop it.
Thank you and I will bro
That really is ingenious.
Building in multiple adjustments was very clever.👍
Pure Genius! RESPECT
Thank you...
හොඳයි video eka මල්ලී
That was brilliant.
Thanks !
Magnificent! Well done!
Thank you! Cheers!
I wonder what you could do if you had access to crazy amount of resources of raw steels and alloys, and a McMaster Carr catalog to deliver to your door step... Well done on this.
For reals, this is absolutely incredible.
Dudes gluing metal together and machining gears with reasonable tolerances.
Get thhis man a welder and a lathe and he'll really crank out some amazing things
Amazing. Thank you
Excelente tu trabajó.!!
thank you ❤️❤️
Khét lèn lẹt ❤
great idea great job
Thank you so much 😊 😍
VERY COOL AND WELL DESIGNED MACHINE!!! 👍👍👍I THINK THE NEXT STEP IS TO MAKE A MACHINE TO CUT GEARS OUT OF METAL BLANKS!
thank you.

🤓 Great project, Yesterday I was thinking about make an extra wood gears to increase speed on some crank lifter. This project allows me to remake all gears system.
I wish your all the best. it would be better if the cutting blade can be made with a lathe.
Great idea, you can create custom wooden molds and send these to a forge for casting.
Parabéns, Brasil tudo de bom
excelente trabajo admirable 😎
