Another tip to add: Duplicate the the track and pitch the second to a different semitone. You will now get a false harmony. Which sounds creapy. If you are in to more advanced mixing: Make a submix with another pitch shifter or set the second pitch shifter to 50% mix.
Ahh that's a great idea, cheers!
Woe
After following the ideas in the video I added this as the final track and I was shocked by just how much additional creepiness this adds!

Awesome work guys! A perfect example of the importance of layering in audio effects - so many of us just want to use one, and then we overdo it, rather than using multiple nuanced effects to achieve the sound we want. (side note: I like logging on and seeing how your channel has grown - it's well deserved).
Perfect example of how you learn something new everyday.....great tutorial!
Appreciate the support SR! Fairly sure you've been with us from the start, it's great to see you are still tuning in :D
The Film Look long time watcher for sure and I’ve learned an incredible amount because of you guys. Thanks for continuing to share your knowledge....it’s made a difference in my career
Dude, thank you so much for this tip, i was completely lost about how to make better my short film. I didn't find any good ambience music but i came here and now i'm fully motivated.
Always love your videos!! To take it a step further, I might have taken a laugh, slowed it down and lowered the pitch, then turned it down to be only just barely audible. Then play it right on the change in the song. Then you have a sinister, slightly off-putting thing that plays in the back of your head!!
Oh that's a great idea! Add some odd whispering and maybe some reverse speaking could envelop the effect even further. Great tip, cheers!
Yo that sounds like bo2 tranzit from zombies
I totally, absolutely love this! Great and in depth tutorial! Wouldn't have thought so many effects were involved! Great job!
Cheers Luca!
I was actually so happy that the song “tip toe through the tulips with me” was in the movie. I was so filled with joy. And no, I am not old. I’m just 12 year old that loves the songs from the past
That was lots of useful information! I'm sure I will find myself referring to this video in the future.
Awesome - happy to help!
OMG this is brilliant. this channel is so underrated. Sub!
I was looking for exactly this. Thank you for the tutorial!
Oh this is perfect. Might try this sometime in the future!
👻🎤
Perfect Timing Guys!!! Thanks so much:)
No problem JR!
Great content, what a shame the views don't reflect it. I really hope you blow up one day, guys!
Love the support TheAljossha! Cheers!
Incredible
Very interesting video. I definitely learned something new! Could you do more screen capture tutorials?
We are going to be producing more because we feel we have cracked the format for our channel, finally! Any tutorials you'd like to see in particular?
Awesome. I would love to see tutorials like this. It's not many of these out on UA-cam. Maybe you could show how to make dialogue better with some effects (noise reduction etc.) or cutting techniqes for story telling.
Cool tutorial!
Cheers!
Wait hold on, how does this not have more views
We ask that question all the time haha.
This is extremely helpful, cheers and thanks
Perfect, thanks guys
No problem!
Great application! I'll have to try this
If you do, send over your project! Would love to see how you used it :D
This is amazing thank you very much
You're welcome 😊
Thanks for making this accessible to us broke people lol I'm learning how to turn 1950s grocery store music into horror now ^u^ Thanks!
Thank you ❤️
Please tell me you used Asylum as the preset
Sorry to burst your bubble but we created that preset for The Asylum Groove...so yes, TECHNICALLY, we did use it.
Can we just have the tension sound effect as well The Film Look?
I run a call of Cthulhu campaign, which is a creepy kind of D&D if you don’t know, and this kind of thing is perfect for something like that to keep my players on edge I wish there was a way to control when it starts getting creepy while it on loop and just make it worst as they keep playing. Any way someone could help or give me some advice with this I’d appreciate it! I unfortunately am technologically challenged haha! Great work and thank you!!
If you use a computer to play sound effects during the campaign, you can layer up the tracks (one normal + one horrified), and simply raise the volume of one while lowering the other. You can get free sound editing software like Audacity. After a few tutorials on UA-cam, you'll be a pro!
The Film Look 👀 for real! Alright thank you so much!! I really appreciate it!!! Awesome work too! Consider me subscribed haha!!
I will try this
Song name?

I enjoy playing with Audition, but is there a way of making the Effect itself slowly come in? (like with keyframes in Premiere) instead of duplicating the track and cross-fading? (or does that give the same results and I shouldn't bother)
You can fade in the effects, yes. It's a little more complex than your standard keyframes. DAWs call it Automation (which is essentially keyframe animation but you animate the faders in the workspace individually). I was going to put automation into the video but then it would have been over an hour long! Just look for Audition Automation tutorials and that should point you in the right direction.
Huh, you used the levers to change it to a crappy speaker kind of thing. I used more of a graph, because I need to have my music realistically sound like a mall speaker, which was killing the bass, upping the middle treble, and then lowering the higher treble. This also gave it some nice clipping that sounded natural, unlike when I accidently dove into Adobes distortions, my ears are still ringing from that
i did something to give the same horror effect but different. i used audacity and whatsapp drip (no i litteraly used that meme song)
Back of the class one is good
I have absolutely no idea how to actually add the sound effects to different areas of the song, and i don't see a tutorial anywhere. so I've adjusted the effects and followed this video but I'm just sitting here with it dine and have no idea how to actually apply it to the song other than clicking that switch button. is there a video im missing im so confused.
If you are using audition, look at some tutorials on automation/envelopes. Those tools should help you fade the effects in. Alternativelty, you can use the razor tool to cut the clips in half and cross fade them. Hope this helps!
hey i dont have this app how will i do this with bandlab
Excuse me did I just hear the tranzit loading screen music
What is the name of the song?
I believe its called Mon Prince Charmont

I just want to make a video with a creepy sound like surrealism entertainment, who makes the tone up and down up and down
Anyways, loved your video!
These are some great ideas!
For the fade out of the original piece I would recommend using iZotope's free vinyl plugin: www.izotope.com/en/products/create-and-design/vinyl.html
Oh this is great! Cheers!
thanks i made the muffin man creepy
Now do ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny creepy aswell
Well, you failed to butcher the great tune.. try as you might

That worked great!
Seriously? Mate, I didn't come to learn how to corrupt innocence. I came because I wanted to get some tips on how to recompose a chill electronic piece that's not so sluggish and not necessarily positive so the theme itself sounds creepy and intense. clickbaited and watchbaited
Sorry you feel that way. This video is for filmmakers who would like to transform an existing piece of music and morph it into some sinister for their movie, similar to the way 'Tiptoe Through the Tulips' was morphed for the film Insidious.
Sounds to me like you might need to find a music channel and not a filmmaking channel if you want to learn more about recomposing chilled electronic music. Also, I don't think you understand what clickbait means. You can't simply call any video clickbait just because it doesn't provide you with EXACTLY what you need.
Keep searching mate.
Hang on. You actually replied to me?
i mean you werent really supposed to notice i said anything
also i was just personally annoyed lol
No worries. Let's hug it out.
