    Another tip to add: Duplicate the the track and pitch the second to a different semitone. You will now get a false harmony. Which sounds creapy. If you are in to more advanced mixing: Make a submix with another pitch shifter or set the second pitch shifter to 50% mix.

    Awesome work guys! A perfect example of the importance of layering in audio effects - so many of us just want to use one, and then we overdo it, rather than using multiple nuanced effects to achieve the sound we want. (side note: I like logging on and seeing how your channel has grown - it's well deserved).

    Always love your videos!! To take it a step further, I might have taken a laugh, slowed it down and lowered the pitch, then turned it down to be only just barely audible. Then play it right on the change in the song. Then you have a sinister, slightly off-putting thing that plays in the back of your head!!

    • @TheFilmLook
      @TheFilmLook  5 років тому +1

      Oh that's a great idea! Add some odd whispering and maybe some reverse speaking could envelop the effect even further. Great tip, cheers!

  • @livingnew4625

    I run a call of Cthulhu campaign, which is a creepy kind of D&D if you don’t know, and this kind of thing is perfect for something like that to keep my players on edge I wish there was a way to control when it starts getting creepy while it on loop and just make it worst as they keep playing. Any way someone could help or give me some advice with this I’d appreciate it! I unfortunately am technologically challenged haha! Great work and thank you!!

    • @TheFilmLook
      @TheFilmLook  4 роки тому +1

      If you use a computer to play sound effects during the campaign, you can layer up the tracks (one normal + one horrified), and simply raise the volume of one while lowering the other. You can get free sound editing software like Audacity. After a few tutorials on UA-cam, you'll be a pro!

    I enjoy playing with Audition, but is there a way of making the Effect itself slowly come in? (like with keyframes in Premiere) instead of duplicating the track and cross-fading? (or does that give the same results and I shouldn't bother)

    • @TheFilmLook
      @TheFilmLook  5 років тому

      You can fade in the effects, yes. It's a little more complex than your standard keyframes. DAWs call it Automation (which is essentially keyframe animation but you animate the faders in the workspace individually). I was going to put automation into the video but then it would have been over an hour long! Just look for Audition Automation tutorials and that should point you in the right direction.

  • @BarkingBarely7789
    @BarkingBarely7789 3 роки тому

    Huh, you used the levers to change it to a crappy speaker kind of thing. I used more of a graph, because I need to have my music realistically sound like a mall speaker, which was killing the bass, upping the middle treble, and then lowering the higher treble. This also gave it some nice clipping that sounded natural, unlike when I accidently dove into Adobes distortions, my ears are still ringing from that

    I have absolutely no idea how to actually add the sound effects to different areas of the song, and i don't see a tutorial anywhere. so I've adjusted the effects and followed this video but I'm just sitting here with it dine and have no idea how to actually apply it to the song other than clicking that switch button. is there a video im missing im so confused.

    • @TheFilmLook
      @TheFilmLook  3 роки тому

      If you are using audition, look at some tutorials on automation/envelopes. Those tools should help you fade the effects in. Alternativelty, you can use the razor tool to cut the clips in half and cross fade them. Hope this helps!

    Seriously? Mate, I didn't come to learn how to corrupt innocence. I came because I wanted to get some tips on how to recompose a chill electronic piece that's not so sluggish and not necessarily positive so the theme itself sounds creepy and intense. clickbaited and watchbaited

    • @TheFilmLook
      @TheFilmLook  3 роки тому +1

      Sorry you feel that way. This video is for filmmakers who would like to transform an existing piece of music and morph it into some sinister for their movie, similar to the way 'Tiptoe Through the Tulips' was morphed for the film Insidious.
      Sounds to me like you might need to find a music channel and not a filmmaking channel if you want to learn more about recomposing chilled electronic music. Also, I don't think you understand what clickbait means. You can't simply call any video clickbait just because it doesn't provide you with EXACTLY what you need.
      Keep searching mate.
