- Making a 4 piece Hobo Lamp using a glass bottle, a spring, and two keyrings.
The result is basically a controlled oil burner that can be used for lighting, heating (provided you allow some ventilation to prevent fumes accumulation) and cooking.
Be sure to pre-char the wick tip in order to facilitate lighting in the field.
Boil the wick in saltwater will make it last longer and burn better
Make your own homemade oil lamp. First you're going to need a bottle of store bought oil lamp oil. Then you're going to need a nice long piece of oil lamp wick.
Now you can make an oil lamp out of anything... Yes anything.
i just make a hole in the metal cap, pass the wick through it and let the rest hanging touching the oil, when the tip burns off i pull just a bit more wick and thats it.
That collar thing is called a "hose clamp" in English!
All my spirit bottles are suspiciously empty. 😂 Nice build.
Very nice work friend.
You might want to try carbon felt it wicks but doesn’t burn.
Danke!
well done
Thank you for watching! I love your videos! Very authentic and informative!
👍
I recommend to watch Robert Murray Smith. Lots of lamps and burners. Nice Molotov on a stick france survivor. Hope its never useful to anyone. How many do you think to take out a bmp / t90? asking for a friend.
Против танков и БМП эти игрушки почти бесполезны ,Киев на связи . Танки лучьше забросать бутылками с краской что бы испортить им оптику ,но так близко подойти мало шансов
The flame is a bit larger than needed and smoking more than you would want in a small enclosure. I would lower the wick to reduce the flame size.
J'aurais attaché un fil à la base de la mèche pour tirer dessus et la replier vers le haut une fois le ressort enfoncé à moitié... et ajouté du poids au fond pour la stabilité.
If you had used a small ring to link your two large rings together, it would give a more flexible and versatile option to create a hanging lamp. Nice enough though as it is.
Excellent INFO & DEMO ! Thank You sincerely. I will teach and use in my Tipi Camp , W. Colorado USA Mtn Mel , Ret 59 - 82 USN SERE- POW Inst / VN Advisor. I have a good Survival Inst friend , Yann Chanty in France. who has been here to visit several times.
Thank you kindly! And all my best wishes to you and your friend!
Why gasoline? Instead of kerosene. Cheaper? But not very nice odour...
Good. I might suggest you look in to carbon fiber. Never burns up. Good wick. Arazona desert rat
How did you learn English so well?
Started with books, then movies, then video games, then politics and philosophy.
@@francesurvivor Love you man, I'm gonna learn French, just because it's not German
Brass is probably too hard, copper is better to work with. That would be my advise
Well in this case, I was only planning to cut the brass tube to length in order for it to hold the wick, so no shaping would have been needed. But copper is indeed easier to work than brass.
And how long did it take before the neck of the bottle broke from the heat ? That's something you could use for a couple of minutes at most, but then it's going to crack. Great idea with the spring and the wick, but you need to use a metal container.
That was a fear of mine as well. But I kept it burning for 15 minutes as a test while filming and the glass neck barely got warm... I think the bottle acts as a heat sink, especially given that we are in winter here!
honestly should be taught in schools, in 8th grade.
Shame people have to ruin everything.
Ацтой!
The pause every other word and knowing full sentences while pronouncing them correctly gives away the fake language barrier and accent. I like the bottle though
Ridiculous take, but actually kind of a compliment for a self taught English speaker like me!
