This magical, deeply romantic recording opened up Schumann for me. Some say Kempff could not penetrate Schumann’s darker side, but a very different, more anguished pianist -Arrau - found Kempff incomparable.
😃Peerless playing in its characteristic finesse, clarity of articulation and telling understatement. I haven't heard this in years and it was Wilhelm Kempff in his absolute prime (early 1960's). Then he was a pianist then, absolutely, to take on the world; and the sound is far better (no doubt thanks to a digital brush-up) than I remember it. Can we have his 'Papillons', please, from the same era, and second-to none? Schumann himself said that if Papillons was the congenial mask, Davidsbundlertanze was the face beneath: we need them both. Bravo! And the score, for serious students, adds so much.

It's nice having an ad thrown in every few dances, to remind me that I'm a human being with a body in the real world.
Ads at the beginning or end of a video are one thing. Ads that interrupt a video are unforgiveable. Boycott anyone who commits this crime.
Don't worry, use some blockers or leave UA-cam, as we all should do.
Imho Kempff’s “tender touch”, delicate sound and love for nuances are something “unique” in whole history of piano.
the transition from minor to major in N17 is absolutely insane how perfect it is
One of the most beautiful music ever composed

Just wanted to thank you for putting the time and effort into these score videos. It's beautiful music, and nice to be able to read along.
Sì è fantastico seguire con lo spartito grazie

Prof. Kempff is the world's greatest pianist of all indeed !!

No. 15 is breathtaking
Especially that soprano melody in the second part. Mesmerizing
no. 17 is my personal favourite
It's so forward-looking!

Wow!! Total earpleasure! A tone magician
No. 13 reminds me of Scriabin's prelude op 11 n. 6!
Kempff aveva un tocco davvero magico, che non trovo nei pianisti orientali, che ormai sono numerosi come cavallette!!!!
Gorgeous beyond words.

Quel touché somptueux.

Schumann wrote this piece in 1837, was he inspired by Chopin's Etude op25 n°4 when writing the N°8 Tanze ?
Seems possible
Maybe, but both pieces are very different. The only thing on common are the leaps
Mas bien se parece a escenas infantiles.
@@alanleoneldavid1787And the same melodic motif?
No. 4 is peak Schumann, with all that syncopation and dissonance.
YES
The fav part of the set for sure
