@@ThatOneSceneDude that's what I was thinking too lol
Are you in your 30's, and you act like you know about Punk music and culture?
I dig your channel. How can you know about things that you werent around for?
@@bongdonkeybruh. The internet. Just because he didn’t live through it doesn’t mean he can’t be knowledgeable. Come on. Who are you? I have been listening to punk rock since I was 8 years old. I’m now 34. I know a lot about punk rock. Stop gate keeping this shit. Punk rock isn’t the place dude, punk rock is for everyone to enjoy and be themselves. I’m more chapped about the fact he’s picking Lars Frederikson apart for how his hair looks and or what he wears. That’s straight fashion punk shit, no one gives a fuck what you wear or what you look like. “When it began, for those who don’t know, it didn’t matter how you looked or what you wore to a show, dress code? Fuck no, we didn’t care about the brand of your jeans and all that shit in your hair. “ -h20 what happened.
I remember a local band opening for Rancid in Dublin, Ireland. There was only about 10 people from the crowd up watching the support act. Lars was one of them.
I met Lars while watching an opening band back in 2001 or 2002 when he was touring with DKM and performing in The Bastards. It was very much like how you describe it. It was pretty shocking to see him just standing in front of me and I had to say hi. I creeped in from behind and squeezed myself between him and a hot punk rock girl, that he was talking to, to say hi. I dont think he liked that but he was cool when he realized I wasn't there to suckerpunch him in the back of the head.
Lars is the man.
So?
I will always have nothing but good things to say about Lars. After my encounter with him at Warp Tour. & experience that one showed me how solid of a dude Lars is an experience that has left a mark on my life. In a nut shell he was doing an autograph signing an some dude was being a prick to me. and because i didn't want any problems i was tired I decided to walk away and right as I was about to leave. I hear someone scream
Hey! I think its the a hole an we're about to scrap so I tighten my fist an turn around an it's Lars an he extends his hand and looks me in my eyes like a man and shakes my hand. I've had respect for him ever since an nothing but love for the man. He didn't have to do that. But it's true what they say kindness goes along away an can make someone's day better. Godbless Lars.
He's not pretending anything. He's a man who is truly passionate about what he gets in to. It says Skunks right on his forehead. Skins Punks and Drunks is his true lifestyle.. People seem to have a problem with him looking like a working class brit but it all goes full circle. Kind of how punks in North America have had huge influence from the UK trying to look like the exploited and what not.. he puts his all into his passions and literally wears it on his sleeve..
I agree. He is the real deal, always has been, and always will. Lars, if you are reading this... You Rock!
Not doubting that he is passionate about the scene but starting to claim skinhead at nearly 40 and your net worth is in the millions is a little hokey. I'm sure the man hasn't wanted for anything in decades.
@@SyphusBatterus It is definitely looks sus and is possible that its a little on the hokey side with his net worth but I personally don't think so. Reason being is he has way too much going on for someone with that much money. Yeah he's for sure rich but he hasn't really stopped grinding on projects and tours like most would of by now. Rich doesn't necessarily mean your not driven. For some it's a never go back to being broke thing. He's said it in interviews how his poor upbringing shaped his work ethic. All I'm saying is he doesn't have to do anything but he's involved in so much tours and projects. So even if he claimed it at 41 he is still always working like any working class person that isn't rich. To be rich and still grind is a mentality that is technically working class and proves it works in a oddball way. Why sit on your ass when you can make even more working towards something you actually enjoy with the proof of success right there at hand . Just my opinion with respect.
Nor Cal punks have always been flighty, and hippy.
This sounds more like a fashion review.
Met Lars back in 2005 at rebellion festival UK, also met Charlie harper from UK subs. True punk rockers are down to earth and more real than all other commercial artists.
He's a very nice guy who cares about his fans. I haven't a bad word to say about the guy and I've been following him since 2000.
People who call other people "poseurs" are losers.
I think the skinhead look is a good way to look clean cut and stylish. Like with a Fred Perry sweater with a Ben Sherman buttoned shirt underneath. It’s like you pass for a normie amongst the normies but people ‘in the know’ recognize you as a punk aficionado. It’s a good look for those of us past forty. Great subject btw!
That's funny, I am bald but not a skinhead. I show my punk background by driving shitty cars and wearing used clothes, even though I make great money. Its the only way I know how to stay true to my roots, even though it may not make sense to anyone else.
It's a good way to be and look like a power and suck. People in the know will realize you are a cosplaying dork. It's easy to tell a real skin from one who just dresses in the costume.
You really missed the “Lemmy” Lars frederiksen and the bastards look with the mostacho
I don't always watch your videos, but when I do, it's usually once a month.
I walk past that bin almost everyday had no idea that Lars had ever been to p-town
Meet Lars twice, at a Rancid show in 1996 and at a Old Firm Casuals gig 12 years ago.
A cool man, we shared stories and he's always friendly - plus a first class rock guitarist and songwriter.
Since Rancid was the band that got me in to punk, post anything Rancid and i'm clickin'.
That sucks.
I agree.
He’s no poser. He has history to back it up and respect from a lot of OG guys. I’ve met the dude. And met a lot of OGs that come to tour here in SoCal. They have mad respect for him and I know he’s down for the cause.
The floppy hawk is great once you reach a certain age and just can't be arsed to style it any more, I know quite well XD
ya, I love it. It's peak idgaf
I agree with what you’re saying, but I also agree with people in the comments. I have prayed for Lars. Lars needs our prayers.
I met slicked back hair, biker skinhead Lars when he was supporting the viking
Yes! I was going to say Dan forgot the slicked-back, biker, huge beard Lars
Yeah those were his Motorhead days. I think he looked more like Animal from Anti-Nowhere League, but he was talking about Motorhead a lot in his interviews when supporting that record.
@@hiding_my_name as one should
@@davesleyer9393 can't argue that
I love the all red plaid Mohawk look from the early 2000’s. his interview with narduar where they look like twins is great! Peak rancid and peak much music!
“ Euro Lars” 😅I’m weak lmaooo
Considering his look was inspired by Charlie harper from Lars's previous band UK subs, Charlie had the punk to the point of parody look.
Do I buy Lars as a Millwall skin? No, it is a little cringe. But he’s an extremely hard working guy, and has helped lots of other bands whether it’s new acts or his old heroes. He’s a decent guy from what I’ve seen
And why on earth would you want to cosplay as a fan of the team with THE MOST RACIST FANBASE IN FOOTBALL.
you forgot his sponsored by dogpile and vision shoes phase, as well as his wearing a denim jacket with bleached spots and pants with the same bleached spots at the same time phase. also the 98 dyed black phase
You forgot Motor Lars
The thing about Rancid is that they try……so….damn…hard. They want to be The Clash so badly, but can’t write a song to save their lives (actually, every song sounds exactly the same). And - if you have to sing sing about “punks, & skins, & rude boys, etc”- allll of the old tropes & platitudes in order to associate yourself with those things- you’re probably not any of those things in actuality.
Bro we can’t forget “Lemmy” Lars 😮 😅
I met Lars while watching an opening band back in 2001 or 2002 when he was touring with DKM and performing in The Bastards.
I first met lars just( like a week) before he recorded his first solo album . Hes a solid guy, especially considering some of the people he surrounds himself with. He was really nice, and was nothing but fun to be around. Bumped into him again at a local show like 5 years later, and he remembered shit i said to him that even i forgot.
Frampton comes alive in this one.
Fuzzy sweaters are where it’s at
I never took Lars seriously, to me he was like a wrestler, different character's depending on the circut. By all accounts he's a good dude, and he definetly took Rancid to another level when he joined. That's all that matters in the end.
“Braces” > suspenders 😂
Danny boy, if you read the book "punk is everything, punk is dead" there is a picture of him sitting inside the bass drum at a south San. Punk show at like 12. Everyone from the CA bay area punk scene knows all the Rancid dudes plus tims older brother Jeff. They arent scenesters they helped make that scene. It was great.
Lars is one of the more interesting punk rockers to listen to, great stories, great solo work. Even more badass that he’s a hardcore pro wrestling fan
I'll take Matt freeman over Lars rejected etc but st Mary was a fun song
Do you listen to his wrestling podcast? The wrestling perspective
Love Lars and his fits! Great video!
Lars is one of the coolest dudes i ever met from a punk band
Lars as real as they come!
also something to mention here, i had similar "phases" and switched between them. like one day you get tired of the mohawk and start with the baby spikes. then you just let them grow and when they reach like 6 to 7 inches, you kinda miss the easier mohawk again and shave the sides. when the hawk gets too long, you shave it off and start with the baby spikes all over. i did that for like 14 years
1:25 that’s Zapdos, without the legendary status
Zapdos from wish
Saw him with The Last Resort at rebellion, very OI boy, like me now!
Lot of Brits hate him for his infatuation with euro sports/ working class culture
Ive met Lars like 5 times and was friends with many skunx crew. Lars is always accessible, and and hangs out with people before and after shows. Cool AF dude.
Love all Lars stuff , saw the old firm casuals in London ( Fiddlers elbow I think back in the day ) , great band and Lars was a top bloke .
He ain't a poser just loves his music .
There's a song by Sewn Leather that uses a sample that goes "sometimes i wonder maybe i shouldn't have tattooed my forehead" and i swear the voice is Lars from an interview
I'm pretty sure it's from the documentary "The Other F Word" about punk rockstars and how they are father's now. REALLY good movie. I've never heard the song you're talking about but Lars does say that in it. I've seen it enough times to remember that, lol. He's my all time favorite artist ever, you can probably tell how obsessed i am by my screen name. Lol
The internet gatekeeper is also the clickbait master...
I had a foot tall fan Mohawk and I grew out the sides and did liberty spikes when i was a teenager. It took forever and I wouldn't wash them out for weeks. I would just touch em up everyday. It eventually all grew out and turned into a devilock that went down to the middle of my chest. I'm 34 and bald now haha.
I totally forgot about the time I was at a Voodoo glowskulls (I think)show.
My friends n I weren’t able to go back in since we stepped out to smoke..guy comes up n asks for a smoke.
That guy was Lars Frederiksen.
Of course, he got that cigarette..talked to us for a bit, said thanks..
Wasn’t easy not to fan girl out, but we held it together.
That shit was cool.
what a moment
Oh man I'm so fucking jealous!! I met Tim in Houston and got to hang out with him for a little while, which was the best day of my life besides the birth of my kids. That was so exciting!! He was so sweet and humble. As much as i love him to death, Lars is who I've been obsessed with forever. I'd give anything to be able to meet him!! But I'm very thankful that I got to meet Tim. And thankful i got to see them live twice. My God they are AMAZING live
That guy is no poser. He's very endearing and enduring. Lars is more of a punker than me being a metalhead. I teeter-totter b/t rock and metal. I'm starting to realize I'm more of a rock fiend than anything. Most of what I listen to is rock. A lot of metal I like may become the same to me as horror movies. I used to love the genre. I don't anymore.
as far as folk go that are in the BIG bands in the scene. Lars is super down to earth, and one of the nicest people i've ever had the chance to meet. he is a treasure and should be treated as such!
I really don't care what his style is, I love this man. He's probably bald by now and cant rock any other style lol
It's probably best to think of Lars in terms of wrestling. He's not a poser. He just has a new gimmick.
I still don't know if Lars is a POSER. Tell me what to think!!
Pop-punk to real punk to psychobilly guy to skinhead is and always has been the natural evolution.
Its easy to poke fun of a person. Like him or not, Lars Fredriksen has paid his dues and then some.
The Respect Police are pulling thru 🚨🚨🚨 weee ooo wee ooo
First video of yours I've seen. Can't tell if the whole scrutinizing his looks thing is supposed to be satire? Because who cares, lol.
Could you do a video about the guy in Beach Slang, Alex James? Seems like he had multiple problems and isn't around anymore. I don't know what happened to the guy and not sure about the women involved. Wasn't paying too much attention, good records to some of us. If you didn't like them, that's cool too.
What did I just watch
All the great bands The Stones ,The Who etc etc reinvented themselves over the years and Rancid has done the same.
If you say so he's a great guy
Harrington jacket > “ khaki coat” bro there’s not a day that doesn’t go by where you don’t make me fucking laugh lol keep up the great stuff man😅
You gotta do best hair in the punk scene... so many options. Start with anybody from the early ''For the Punx'' era Casualties... 🤣🤣
Pretty good little idea
Old school A Global Threat should also get mentioned in that video.
He's a "fuckin' goof" like Chris Hannah from Propagandhi eloquently said in "Rock For Sustainable Capitalism". Look up what the word "goof" can be used for in Canada and you will have a chuckle. (It involves not following the *your age/2 +7* rule is all I'll say 🤣
In Punk Rock it seems that everyone is a poser.
Punk became an image… everything punk fought against
I don't get the Pokemon references... And yes Pokemon was around when I was young.
I don't get the Pokemon references and yes Pokemon was around when I was young.
I literally came here to say 'NO' and this video title is insane. If Lars is a poser then we all are.
Do you just troll I wanna see you show some respect to the old artist we loved #PunkRock
A poser at what? He is who he is and is living it.
Dee Dee was a punk rocker
Lars rules
So the answer seems to be yes
Is being punk rock how straight up your Mohawk is? Or whether or not you wear sweaters and have liberty spikes? Why did you make this video? Lars is a legend. To me, and to anyone who appreciates the music he has made. Pay respect when it’s due son.
I was gonna say Lars got kind of Russian in some of those photos but you already said it lol
I remember when he was trying to look like Lemmy from Motorhead too for a bit. Not good 😂
Tried for Lemmy but result was more James Hetfield.
Maybe more of a Fashionista than a poser. He did actually grow up lower middle class to working class as far as I understand it.
Floppy hawks are the GOAT
Yeah he grew up and went with the cleaner trad skin head with a little football casual with the track suites which all that came out of skinhead and Oi!
*Sometimes you think about like, you know- oh shit should i have tattooed my forehead
Lars is legit, look at the amount of songs he has released that we all know. I get lazy sometimes to when I'm chilling with my family. Does that make me a poser . Nah I've met me I know who I am. Just because he doesint always wear the whole regalia doesint mean he ain't real.... Mind you the khaki coat shot did remind me of I used to be hard but I got married lmao.... I did enjoy your vid . I do like that you didint actually talk shit , I will be following
omg its Idubzzz you an Idubzzz cosplay
Haha this video cracked me up
They drink bud light 😂❤
How tall is Lars? Does anyone know?
I thought he was a big guy, but in some pictures, he looks slightly taller than Billie Joe who‘s about 5‘7.
4:50 great look
Maybe George Santos can buy dan a clothes steamer or a dryer by starting a GoFundMe to take out the wrinkles from his white shirt before he makes a video? Hmm. Dan getting more stuff in the background. Don't become a hoarder and be living on a bench outside your apartment because you filled the place up too much.
the funny thing is, 2 belts and neither one are holding up the pants lol. I remember back when I'd wear multiple belts just for asthetic. the school thought it was a gang thing :(
You missed the biker-punk ginger Lemmy moustache stage!
1:36 his hair is charged
You don’t have to label everything and everyone you know. It helps to make sense of things and people, but ultimately means nothing.
I must say I never knew until now what a fashionista visionary your are. Your vigorous vituperative condemnation of MGK the other day was an incendiary bridge to far for all of us red blooded American MGK zealots. Fortunately MGK teaches forgiveness 🫂 in his manifesto MGK's little pink book. I do however feel you were spot on on each and every call on this one. That said when did you lose the young Brian Baker👱🏻♀️ locks/look and opt in for the Ian MacKaye? 🌝+🧢
Lars is og and real.
I saw Lars’s side project the old firm casuals open for death angel before I was into punk. I got a titty twister from a shirtless midget in the pit and have been hooked on punk ever since.
🤣
who just hands out moob twisters in a pit? weird.
Yes. Sorry I didn't watch your video. I just read the question and my answer is yes.
You lost me with all the Pokémon references. I've been a Rancid fan since 1994 and I was practically an adult when Pokémon hit so that went way over my head and there are a large number of Rancid fans who are in my general age group as well, maybe next time just talk and not use fandom references that only some people will get.
I do believe Lars is a poseur. You don't come to be a skinhead, which is a working class subculture when you're nearly 40 and your net worth is in the millions. At the same time I do like what Lars has done for the Oi scene he has produced some very good albums and gave them a spotlight they would not have normally had. He has also participated in making some great music with Rancid and his other bands, I hear he is in the Last Resort now which does actually give him some credit.
Happy black history month!!
Hahahahhah Lars in a pokébattle
Dude, I've went to shows where Lars was just walking around and I spoke to him and was waiting for the rock star attitude, but he was just a really nice dude. Shit my man is okay in my book and I was haunting Gilman when Tim was still being called Lint ......hell I was there when Tim Yohanon was still alive , so my ancient ass has been around some good people and some total cockgoblins and Lars isnt relegated to that " what a cunt" list.
Yes rancid have always been posers
don't understand how you can hear any of him or rancids music and say he's not a poser
Lars is a good dude
You should have put some actions in perspective not only looks
