Lance Armstrong was Americas sweetheart and the biggest star of his time also. Once he was out of cycling the number of people who cared about cycling in America went down 90%. Just because a person comes along and alters the sports landscape for a brief time doesn't necessarily mean it's going to maintain that positive influence forever. People were drawn to the story and when the story goes away so may the people. Sure some will hang around and it will have a positive impact overall but it's not always at the same level as it was at the height of the moment or usually even at a much smaller level. I actually kind of resent the Iowa coverage with Lucy. She actually thinks her fan experience (of Iowa football and basketball of all things) is better than everyone else's. I think it's annoying, unfunny, and played out. Why not get a Kansas State fan on the show and talk K-State football every week? Why not get a Rutgers basketball alum on the show and make that the most important? Enough already.
