OK, now I'm with you. The wrong video first came up. It goes further than I first thought. What you saw being poured out, that was about 1/2 the bottle. Hard to explain. The instructions show that it will cover about 3x3' 1/8 inch. So that is not bad for a layout. It was super easy to work with. Turned out great. Thanks for your post.
That looks truly amazing, excellent work - trying to think if there is an equivalent product available here in the UK, I think Woodland Scenics do something similar but I haven't tried it yet.
We did adhere the ground cover before applying the Super Glaze. The darker the color you use on the river bed, the deeper the water will look. You will find this very easy to do. Just mixed the two parts together and start slowly pouring it into the lake or river bed as described in the video. Good luck!
Looks sweet! Great job on the blending for depth. There are too many tutorials that just have a black or dark blue bottom that make it look like there's a dark blob on the layout.
One of the guys that works on the layout with me built the bridge. He is one of these guys that can build anything! He is very good. Now about the name. You know I don't have a name for anything on the layout yet. We are going to have to take time out and come up with the name of the whole layout. :)
Great video and because of this I just ran to Home Depot to get some Super Glaze. Going to try it out. Before I do, had a question. Did you adhere the ground cover in the river bed in place first? Or just apply the glaze/epoxy over the top of the loose material?
csxmad, I just used play sand from home depot then screened it with window screen. Just let the fine sand flow through the screen, do not shake it. Hope this helps.....
Hi, someone just shared your video, saw it for the first time today. I have been looking for a resin product for a future layout, as I did not have good experiences with Woodland Scenics. Do you know if you can tint the resin to create murky water? Using acrylic paint? Also, what glue did you use on river bottom? I have read that some glues will react with resin, creating cloudy looking water that ruins the effect. Thanks!
Oct. 2017---Thanks for the video as I'm always interested in how you train guys do things. Used to build aircraft/armor models 15 years ago, but now going for 1/35th scale zombie/apocalypse dioramas which is something entirely new to me because I never put any figures in/around my aircraft/armor models. Never heard of Super Glaze until now and this stuff may make my modeling a lot easier as I've had to buy Micro Marks 2 part resin via the mail. But have questions about it. Home Depot still sells it for $24.88 for a quart and in a product review, you're suppose to seal what ever you're using the resin on. Did you need to do this? Can you add coloring to the resin to make a pond, etc. look muddy and if so, any recommended brand? And can this be used on a silicone mold? Will be using a release agent on the mold(s).
No offense but im noticing with all these awesome train layouts its older guys that are building them and its sad to think in a few more years they could die and these layouts would be torn apart :(
Correct. And I find it odd no hobby shops survive where I live. In my opinion, it's a sad sign of the times. Where I had to move for work, the employers treat degreed engineers with decades of experience, like mind slaves. I want to find another place to live and work... after 2008 I think all the decent private sector jobs in Alabama went to hell, unless you were the one lone desperate idiot who needed a job.
Just stumbled across this video...really nice groundwork! The creek/stream/river basin looks amazing!

I lice in a handicap apt so I have no room for a train... but I wish I knew this stuff when I did have a place for it. Thank you Larry for sharing
Kevin, I just saw your effect of oily water in video. Very nice job. I like your whole layout. Excellent.

This is a great video, one of the best on how to make a stream.

Interesting. Maybe we will give it try. I'm always ready to learn new ways.
Thanks for posting.
I am amazed at the thumbnail

Nice! Great editing!
Great job!! Can I ask what you have down for your ground cover of the creek bed? Is that sand?
How would this work coming down a mountain into a small pond

Awesome! Throw some Beer cans and a few Tires in there....
Hi I used the varnish on an oil tank scene to give the effect of oily water in the last video I did and I thought it came out well

So what does the finished product look like?
does this stuff have a strong smell? Toxic fumes? I am modeling in my bedroom and I cannot have this smell in my room...
is this stuff ok to pour onto polystyrene
I need to look your video up and review it. Thanks
if that was a real river it would be 100% polluted. looks good!
+bob1948100 could you use some sort of blue dye in this to make it a blue water?
Actually, we just used a putty knife and a wire brush. Wish I could come up with something really complex. haha
Glad to help
Try and tell us how far that $25 went....looks interesting.
Thanks!
Oh hell yeah!
CSXYN4 Great! Glad to be able to help!

why not use real water with a small pump?
Because it is a model railroad. Real water would mess things up.
Forget the phony water, use real water.
It’s uglie
