- There's something new happening to Singapore's Supermarket scene! You can now buy your ingredients and have it cooked on the spot!
FairPrice has just introduced this new concept at FairPrice Xtra Parkway Parade. At one end of the hypermarket, is “The Kitchen” where you can get your seafood, steaks and vegetable cooked! It's run by the people from Bantong Seafood Zi Char and the chef Isaac whips up a pretty good sambal fish as well as other zi char dishes. There are also other food outlets around the dining area where you can also pick up a cup of coffee, pastries and waffles. Best news for parents with young children is that there is a special play area with arcade games to keep the children occupied while you go shopping!
I found it useful to be able to taste a few beef steaks before deciding which one to buy! It is also very convenient if you’re hungry and need to do some grocery shopping at the same time. Have you tried any of these facilities and has it made your shopping experience more convenient?

Didn't know about this place until I saw it on TikTok so we went there yesterday and had the steak & lamb chops + vege. Both mains were pretty good for the price paid and we love the novel concept. Will definitely be back more often as it's close to where we live :)

Bangkok have in super market. Marketplace have been having this concept for a while already. Such a waste u gotta eat the wagu from the cardboard plate. But still I will check it out when I am back in sgp . Beef looks like a good deal. Do they have fresh rock oysters?
Yes you’re right. And yes they do have oysters in the Live seafood section every now and then. We’re told that the oysters served at the bar are pretty good value too. 😀

Cook food in a supermarket 😋. Competition for traditional seafood restaurants and other supermarket brands. Maybe experience one time, but cannot eat like this all the time. Not for the elderly

Oh, we may have spoken to some of them in Chinese but I'm quite sure they speak English. There should always be someone who does, even if one of them isn't fluent.
So much for exhorting customers to go green by reducing the use of plastic bags when even the food that are specifically meant to be cooked onsite are wrapped in plastic.
