Strange is literally denying the reality, that victor is a man of great compassion and empathy, and instead is forcing him to accept a false narrative where everything is Victor's fault. It's damn near textbook
I believe it's important to recognize that Mr. Freeze did not freeze these pets out of malice, curiosity, or general joy in killing, but out of a child's genuine compassion and an inability to deal with death in a healthy manner. Sure, the result is equally horrific, but I think it's nontheless important to distinguish between the reasons as one happens from a lack of empathy, while the other is rooted in empathy for the pets and the owners who have to live through the feelings of loss. Victor is disturbed, yes, but in a much different way than the other rogues who, for the most part, are very much devoid of compassion. Really makes me think that Victor suffered a loss early on and had no one who could've given him the tools to cope... ;_;
That makes much more sense for Mr. Freeze and it gives him a more interesting character trait rather than just the usual "serial killer symptom". Thanks for pointing this out.

It's a crying shame how neglected the tapes in this game are (or any of the games for that matter, I love the origins ones and the scarecrow/Jason ones in knight especially). They give you the backstory of the character, which is obviously great, but there are so many questions people may ask as they play the game that are answered by these tapes and what strange says about what goes on. Edit: something else fascinating about the tapes is what he says to catwoman. He explains how she knows so little about batman and that she can try to win his heart but he believes she never will. And looking at knight, she tried but batman felt they couldn't do it. Strange was right.
Freeze and Two Face: start of very defiant but Strange plays mind games with them and takes apart their characters piece by piece Catwoman and Riddler: start off very smug and overconfident but Strange puts them in their place, stumps them and gets them to beg Penguin and Mad Hatter: are far more cooperative and enter mutually beneficial partnerships with Strange Joker: the only one who doesn’t fall for Strange’s mind games and actually gets Strange to ask for more to the point where he gets Strange to basically sentence doctors to death just so Strange can get more info. And Joker manages to get through the whole thing unscathed and gets to have some fun along the way.
It’s funny. At the start, Riddler is EMBARRASSING Strange. Running circles around him. It’s not until Strange brings up Batman’s identity where things are flipped on their head. The dude just KNOWS things. It’s honestly mind-boggling how easy he can flip the script, even when he was clearly being outsmarted by Nygma at the beginning.
There's something about Asylum and Hugo that nobody talks about and it took me a while to realize. In one of Arkham's spirit stones Sharp mentions a friend who share the same views and even says they'll make a good team, and it was Strange all along
@@BrandontheAwesome there is a small Easter egg however. In asylum the riddle to unlock Hugo Strange's bio is hidden behind very high tech defense showing his file,a tiny hint of his importance in future games
To everyone saying it's Dr. Young that was probably the original intent, but both city and origins confirmed sharp was being controlled by forces beyond him. Shiva's master helped him open it and strange made him think he was the spirit of arkham. He was definitely talking about Dr. Young in that tape though since he's already believing himself possessed.
7:50 In the Arkham Stories, in specific the one you get by scanning the "See no evil, hear no evil" trio of skelletons in the Museum says that Penguin FOUGHT against TYGER and the Police to avoid his Museum and Iceberg Lunge to be taken over into Arkham City, killing three veteran cops in the fight. This gave the necesary proof to just build the Wall around the Museum, trapping Penguin and his gang inside Arkham City.
It's interesting to have further insight into how dangerous Strange can be, being able to break down each of Batman's rogues piece by methodical piece.
Adding onto the Two-Face point, Troy Baker is consistently excellent throughout the entire series. He's basically Hamill level as Joker in origins, very good in the limited moments as Tim Drake's Robin, and regardless of what people think of Arkham Knight/Red Hood, Troy did a phenomenal job in that game too. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill get the plaudits (and rightfully so, they're amazing) but I feel like Troy Baker, Nolan North as Penguin, Cory Burton as Hugo Strange, Dee Bradley Baker as Ra's and Grey DeLisle as Catwoman all have very good performances that aren't spoken about enough.
Gotta say, Hatter is my favourite Batman villain. I love his hypnosis gimmick and how he can be easily overlooked as one of the most important villains in the Arkham Universe, as he is the one who helped Strange mind control Sharp.

Arkham Asylum had the Chronicles of Arkham but that was more lore of the Asylum. Strange and Ra’s puppeteering all of these villains to mentally take on Batman is memorable as hell. It’s a wonderful take on the lore. This should be what a Batman TV miniseries series could look like. I don’t think he was putting down freeze. He was just pointing out and giving his analysis of what he thought of freeze’s backstory, and to be fair, protocol 10 was all ra’s idea, strange is just the one who set it into play. Strange was working under him.
Your comments on Penguin are why I find him underrated as a Batman villain, especially in the Arkhamverse. Penguin treats being in Arkham as a business arrangement more than an actual prison, and unlike most of the other rogues he's a businessman. A sadistic criminal businessman, but he can stand up frequently to the other rogues like Joker and Two-Face and actually hold his own.
For the Two Face media you ask for, I would recomend: -The two episodes in the Animated Series "Two Face". They act as an origin story for this version of the character, and they're great. -"Second chance". Another Batman The Animated Series episode, this one of an atempt of curing Harvey -The Dark Knight, for obvious reasons -And, finaly, the comics "Long Halloween" and It's secuel "Dark Victory". This two are my favourite interpretations of Two Face and my favourite Batman comics in general. I would 100% recomend you to read them if you haven't.
"The dark knight returns". Really good breakdown of Harvey's character as a whole. Shows what would happen if Harvey had plastic surgery to fix his face/body. Another good one is "arkham asylum, hell on earth" which shows two face locked up in arkham and forced to use a deck of tarot cards to make all decisions. This ultimately ends with Harvey incapable of making simple decisions like if he can use the bathroom or not
For good two face centric episodes and movies: - Batman TAS: Two-Face part 1 & 2, Second Chance, and Judgement Day - Movies: Batman the Long Halloween Other than that, another commenter left some graphic novel and comic suggestions. I highly recommend checking those out. Also take a look at the ten best Two-Face stories by Mr Rogues.
Not sure if you’ve watched Batman TAS much before. However, if you’re looking for a good two face story then look no further than Two Face Part 1 and 2 (I believe it’s season 1 episode 17 and 18). Genuinely fantastic episodes and some of my favourites of the series. Really gives a deep dive into Two Face’s origins and psyche. Also don’t know if you’ve read these two books however I firstly highly recommend Grant Morrison’s Arkham Asylum: A serious house on serious earth. Really explores the psychology of Batman’s villains and there’s a interesting excerpt on Two Face. Secondly, Batman the long Halloween heavily focuses on Two face and is a fantastic crime noir type story. Interestingly, The Dark Knight was very much heavily inspired by the Long Halloween. So defs check em out, cannot recommend em enough!
If you want a good Two Face episode aside from his two parter from BTAS, watch Judgement Day from the New Batman Adventures. It really picks apart Two Face’s psyche more, that’s all I’ll say
Also in the Arkham unhinged series we see Catwoman trying to take the chip and two face trying to batman the steps in and saves Catwoman but two face tricks Catwoman making her get caught by tiger. So that what the guard was taking about at the beginning of Catwoman's tape
Actually, in arkham asylum, Scarecrow's audio tapes explain how he was able to create a new toxin and how there is a Cure. Batman appears in the final of his tapes
If you're looking for good Two-Face stuff, I highly recommend the Two Part Animated Adaptation of Batman: The Long Halloween. It also has Troy Baker voicing Joker.
Stuff like this is what made the games stick out more for me. Doing the riddler atuff to get more of these a bunch of other info to learn more of the lore is what i really liked about these games
Yeah Holly is a younger sister figure to Selina (not like Selina’s actual sister Maggie) but Holly is actually a lesbian (this was way back in 2003 so it was kinda groundbreaking at the time) and a super fun character who I love a lot. As for Two-Face recommendations, I would suggest the Long Halloween animated movies, Two-Face’s origin two-parter from the Animated Series, Second Chance, Sins of the Father, and Judgement Day.
I don't know man, Mister Freeze was trying to save those pets, not hurt them. I don't think it's fair to compare him with a serial killer. I may be wrong, tho.
It's obviously not 1:1, but the idea was similar enough for me to make the comparison. Victor starts his freezing tendencies on animals only to evolve and use them on humans in the future, just as serial killers generally start their actions on animals only to eventually use them on humans.
12:00: Personally, Richard Moll is the only one who clearly defines Two Face for me. The way Richard speaks in his gravely voice perfectly reflects Harvey's bad side while Troy Baker's take on him sounds like a guy who's trying to sound tough. I did like his take on the Joker's younger self in Origins as anyone can tell, he studied Mark Hamill's persona of him to really nail it.
27:17 Well it actually might’ve been after Arkham Asylum because after that a few months or years later Arkham Asylum was sold to TYGER hence why Strange was breaking code and why the guard sounded like a TYGER guard.
They take place before the game's events of Arkham Asylum. Strange disappeared YEARS before suddenly returning to Gotham to run Arkham City. And also it's been alluded that Sharp's Spirit of Arkham personality was caused by Strange hypnotizing him. He also is behind Arkham City being an idea in Sharp's mind to begin with.
I really liked two face in the long halloween, if you haven't seen it, i 100% recommend checking it out. If i remember right two face is one of the main antagonists as well
You know, the killing joke origin is actually cannon to the DC comics universe, they refference it in other comics that take place after the killing joke.
Here's my theory for Mr.Freeze's story not lining up too well with Cold Cold Heart, you see memory can be a tricky thing, sometimes we remember something one way, while others remember it a different way. Him giving this info to Strange could be Mr.Freeze misremembering.

I love these types of videos
fr
If you want a good Two Face episode aside from his two parter from BTAS, watch Judgement Day from the New Batman Adventures. It really picks apart Two Face’s psyche more, that’s all I’ll say
I've been a fan of your videos for a while and I continue to enjoy them
For mr freeze’s recounting of his origins being slightly different to cold cold heart, victor could just be remembering it differently
Strange finally being annoyed with Nigma: “petulant child, I will tolerate your insolence no more!”
It's So Cool That We Get To See Strange Basically Brake Every One Of Batman's Rogues!
Finaly! Someone analyzed these.
I think this is considered the best one just because strange says 'no'
Also in the Arkham unhinged series we see Catwoman trying to take the chip and two face trying to batman the steps in and saves Catwoman but two face tricks Catwoman making her get caught by tiger. So that what the guard was taking about at the beginning of Catwoman's tape
Some time, you gotta talk about the Sirus Pinkney plaques from arkham origins
Actually, in arkham asylum, Scarecrow's audio tapes explain how he was able to create a new toxin and how there is a Cure. Batman appears in the final of his tapes
Troy Bakers Twoface is great. I wish we got more of him!
The interview tapes are pretty interesting. They add little nuggets to the story.
Corey burton is just a great voice actor.
Love the content❤
I missed your content bro😭
thank you for this breakdown! such an amazing game and game series.
Lessss gooooo just in time!
bro following u from Turkey i do really like ur content keep going one day u will get the respect and subscribers that you deserve
Damm shame that we never got a fight with Strange in the bat suit
If you're looking for good Two-Face stuff, I highly recommend the Two Part Animated Adaptation of Batman: The Long Halloween. It also has Troy Baker voicing Joker.
This was super cool, lots of stuff i didn't know 👍
These tapes are like the music discs of the Arkham series.
Stuff like this is what made the games stick out more for me. Doing the riddler atuff to get more of these a bunch of other info to learn more of the lore is what i really liked about these games
The best feeling is when you open up UA-cam and hear, “gday chapts “
And one of the interview tapes actually makes one of the stories in the prequel books Canon 4 Arkham City
Troy baker also voiced two-face in Lego batman 2
I love that Strange is one of the few people who can actually get Riddler to shut up.
The asylum tapes were actually my favorite of the series, it was super good
2:54 this line and video as a whole has made me very more interested in strange so thanks puncher of clowns!
The long Halloween part 1 and 2 is a great two face story
The voice acting is on a whole other level.
I just wanna say I love your content and keep doing what you do
The perfect one day late birthday gift a new clownpuncher vid.
My favorite is the Riddler tape revealing Strange has a Batsuit in his office.
Hugo Strange’s No shall be memed
Yeah Holly is a younger sister figure to Selina (not like Selina’s actual sister Maggie) but Holly is actually a lesbian (this was way back in 2003 so it was kinda groundbreaking at the time) and a super fun character who I love a lot.
As for Two-Face recommendations, I would suggest the Long Halloween animated movies, Two-Face’s origin two-parter from the Animated Series, Second Chance, Sins of the Father, and Judgement Day.
I didn't know Catwoman had a sister is her sister also related to carmine Falcone
@@dylanbyrne9597 No, Maggie Kyle is younger than Selina and born from a later father that Maria Kyle married.
@@hudsondavis1399 OK thanks for the info
I don't know man, Mister Freeze was trying to save those pets, not hurt them. I don't think it's fair to compare him with a serial killer. I may be wrong, tho.
It's obviously not 1:1, but the idea was similar enough for me to make the comparison. Victor starts his freezing tendencies on animals only to evolve and use them on humans in the future, just as serial killers generally start their actions on animals only to eventually use them on humans.
Love this game 😊
@No uh ok then
@No hi no
Now you have me thinking about a What If? series for DC
You should totally watch Batman vs Two-Face! A really fun movie with a cool re-imagining of Two-Face’s character for the 60s Batman universe
Watch the long Halloween 1 and 2 if you want a good two-face story.
or just read the long halloween comics! theyre cool too.
@@potucsimp true
I love listening to Riddler being screwed with by Strange lmao
I recommend the episode “Second chance” episode from Batman: The Animated Series
It focuses on Two-Face’s psychological trauma.
If you want more lore from Arkham City, the Arkham City Stories definitely provide it
The long Halloween is really good
I really liked two face in the long halloween, if you haven't seen it, i 100% recommend checking it out. If i remember right two face is one of the main antagonists as well
I now is pretty late but the long Halloween for me has one of the best two faces that I've seen
12:53 a good two-face comic is The Long Halloween
Second chance is a great twoface episode in the animated series.
I liked your mr freeze pun
For Two-Face, watch the Two-Face two parter (ha) of the Animated Series and the Batman Vs. Two-Face animated movie, they're both great
You know, the killing joke origin is actually cannon to the DC comics universe, they refference it in other comics that take place after the killing joke.
Me: Will I ever find love at some point in my life?
God: 3:00
Here's my theory for Mr.Freeze's story not lining up too well with Cold Cold Heart, you see memory can be a tricky thing, sometimes we remember something one way, while others remember it a different way. Him giving this info to Strange could be Mr.Freeze misremembering.
