Yes, They both produce the powdery sunblock, but they are filled with different dna. Lisa is a Nicaraguan and Yellow 68 is a megalanthus variety crossed with a polyrhizus if I remember correctly... The spines and horniness tell another story. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the kind words and support. I think every collector needs an Ocamponis variety. My advice is that the longer spined varieties taste better. Also, they may taste better with drier climates. In the South East and Florida, it has been reported that they taste moldy.
Have you found that using Tricia or another ocamponis as a rootstock will have the scion grow slower? Wondering if a slow rootstock makes the scion slow. 🤔
I can't find a pure Ocamponis variety that is from a trustworthy source. Tricia is a hybrid and I would give it an 8/10 for rootstock in San Diego, CA. It is resistant to excessive heat and sun tolerant. It is resistant to rot as well, but is a bit slower to grow.
Thanks! I can't believe there is another one in your region. I hope you are tossing epsom salts into the pots, it should help with all of the excessive water in the soil. I hope you and your plants are safe. Out here, we are dealing with cold weather.
Yes and they don't like too much water or humidity. A dry climate with a bit of afternoon shade is the perfect location for this plant in southern California.
Don't be fooled. This "dragon fruit" has absolutely no flavor. It looks nice and exotic but tastes worse than unripen strawberry, with irritating little seeds embedded in the mesocarp/pulp.
Two varieties i have lisa and yellow cross68 have similar looks...

Lmao 😂 the description very *thorny . I was like did I read that right 😆
Lol, no this is both thorny and horny. Horny is a term for cacti that turn gray on the edges between the thorns.

Em quanto tempo a valdivia roja produz?
My ocamponis has very short spines 5-6 at each node.
I have a 4 sided plant as well but I don't think its DF...thanks again for sharing.
A Selenicereus perhaps?
Hi Paul, nice collection! Do you know anything about Ocamponis Albina/Albino?
In Florida it's named la Catrina. yellow skin white flesh. Thanks
It's on my wishlist!
I am in Fl, and can not find any info of Ocamponis Albina/Albino. Can any one help? Sounds very interesting.
@Rare Dragon Fruit, the Valdivia Roja growth looks a bit like the medicinal plant people used for their eyesights problem ,ha?.
LOL
My experience? SLOW growers

Those plants look about 100yrs old lol
LOL. They actually lose the powdery layer as they age and turn an olive green.

You should try local grown and more varieties... You've been fooled.
Watching because I have a few ocamponis myself 🫡 after I receive the cuttings I won, I’ll be so happy with what I have
Excellent, Glad you won
