    Here's our reaction to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia s02e03!
    We've heard a lot about this show throughout the years, and believe it or not, we've never seen a single episode! And yes -- we've received all the warnings about how crass the comedy can be. Couple that writing with the fact that this show started in 2005, and we have a recipe for some great reactions.
    This will be a long journey since the show has been running for so long. But we hope you join us every step of the way!

    Regarding Charlie getting rewarded for stealing Frank's money, I always looked at it as commentary on how white collar crimes are treated vs how crimes like possession of drugs (Dennis and Dee's crime) are treated. They are now forced into Charlie's job which this episode makes clear is "slave" labor much like many privatized prisions in America. Charlie meanwhile is told that his crime shows leadership because we often value these business men who commit unethical and illegal activities. Their crimes while they can have more victims then someone with a drug addiction are viewed as not as immoral. And they often just get promoted by people that value the same thing as them. The difference between Mac and Charlie is that Charlie has wealth to begin with (inherited wealth). Mac doesn't. So, while they commit the same crime, Mac does not get rewarded. He is viewed negatively. But Charlie, the already wealthy guy, is viewed positively. Thats how i view it anyway.

    One of the great things about the show is that the gang has few to no true convictions or principles. But they all tend to get fixated and self-righteous over particular issues. As a result, any one of them can be the straight man or "moral compass" when necessary.

    Don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but the title of the episode is typically the punchline to the cold open. Not required, but if you are able to not see the episide title before you watch it, 👍👍👍 it makes it that much better.

      haha it's been mentioned once or twice. In the later episodes you actually see us looking away from the screen before we start haha.

    They’ve talked on the podcast about how the gang is always behind the times in the show. IE the video camera.. digital recording has been around for a while and they still have the shoulder mounted tape recorder

    @18:12 Mac's the Brains. Dennis is the Looks, Frank's the Muscle, and Charlie's the Wildcard. That's how the A-Team did it. That's how Scoopy-Doo did it. And, that's how the Ghost Busters did it!

    One thing to consider: Whenever a character all of a sudden seems to have grown a conscience out of nowhere, it's important not to just take them at their word, and think about what selfish reason might ACTUALLY be fueling their disagreement that they're merely conveniently using the moral position as an excuse to complain about it.
    And sometimes it's also just hollow lip-service until it actually affects them.

    I would look into work for welfare programs, there's pretty good research that they're not effective and can actually do some harms. It's a complex topic and I'm not sure there's an easy answer.

    No, Frank isn't going to care about theft in business. Frank ran sweatshops in Vietnam; he's not worried about ethics because being ethical isn't how he got rich. He'd totally see a lack of ethics as management potential.

    the funny part of this. . dennis wouldnt be eligible for unemployement as far as i know, because he was an owner. . Dee might have been eligible if she was getting paid on the books, ,which i doubt

      They both quit for no good reason (like hostile work environment, etc). Usually for unemployment you have to be either laid off or fired - but not due to negligence or breaking company rules. (at least in my state) But hey, the episode is hilarious! Rule of Funny.

    It feels like you guys still aren’t really grasping that the show is about a group of horrible people. Throw logic out the window. Throw empathy out the window. Throw morality out the window.

    The irony is the origin of the word slave.

    • @larrote6467
      @larrote6467 21 день тому

      nope, you just think it is ironic because you live in a bubble, you are obsessed with media and dumb actors, and just like them you don't know much about the rest of the world; they are not even "the original slaves" which is your point, it is the origin of the word for a particular language family, a word an concept that existed for a long time in other older languages
