Old Abandoned Stone House - Used As A Police Station

  • This location had high expectations before filming because it was rumored that this was a police station. Complete with cells in the basement. Unfortunately it no longer is or looks like a police station. But not all is lost, as this turned out to be a pretty cool location. We learned some history about it after filming and it was indeed a police station that had a portable cell in the basement. All in all i'm glad we got to document it. Enjoy
Please Note: Exploring Abandoned locations can be dangerous. I don't condone or encourage anyone to enter an Abandoned structure. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal and when possible, i seek out permission. I simply go to document its history before it's gone and leave things the way I find them. I assume all the risks & responsibility in doing so. Please don't attempt to do this on your own.

Yep to many years of watching fixer upper shows. I was thinking the same thing the house did not have any rain damage. The bones of the house looked good. And the fact you said there use to be an outdoor kitchen this maybe a little older than we think. This is very cool. Thanks for the tour.

The outside stonework on the walls is beautiful. Someone spent a lot of time and love in arranging the colors and shapes.

Hi, from my research the radio is from 1950. Given that some Motorola models look similar the radio is either a model 6F11, 8FM21 or an 8FM21B.

the Motorola Radio is from about the late 30's early 40's -- i did have a old Zenith Radio kinda like that one and it also had the Turn Table for Records and they are 78's - i still have the old records but not the radio // does seem like this place has several stories to tell from birth to demise - if it was a Police Station - i would say it was more like the headquarters of the department - possible setup as more like interrogation rooms or sections along with keeping records // the outside area looked like it might have been use for a holding pen while getting information // still very interesting to see the different updates to each part of possible usage // home - office of some kind - a motel - Police Station - possible day care center for kids ? ( the oven rack windows lol ) // still a very neat place and the setting is huh ? from front looks its like a old farm house but then pow its got all this hidden structure that is not really seen // also very nice to see you bring others with you on your journeys and teach the respect of getting missed history from different era's that many would not know much about

Motorola goes back a long way, dating to 1928, when the Galvin brothers bought out a comapny that made battery eliminators to be used to run battery-powered things on AC house current. It got its name in 1930, when it brought out a radio that could be installed in cars: Moto for "Motor" and "ola" which was used for many products of that era. They were famous for producing the "Walky-talky" of WWII! The brand is still around today, making lots of electronic products. How's that for longevity! Very interesting structure, just asking to be brought back into useful life. (BTW, the "bar" could also be a common kitchen bar. My best friend's folks installed a wooden one between the kitchen and living room of their apartment, using bar stools instead of tall chairs.

That is why I would take a backpack and take some small stuff with me. It's not like you're stealing from anyone. It's abandoned property left to rot and decay. What a terrible waste. People could restore that stuff and make it beautiful again, so why let it rot? I would try to locate the owner of the property and get permission to salvage whatever I could....

Wow Motorola use to make Radios? thats awesome info .. I once lived in a house where the bathroom was downstairs and it was an extension of the house to the side of it .. it was a pain to keep going downstairs to the toilet haha .. In UK we have what they call listed buildings. This means that an owner can not change the exterior and i think the interior too. They cant put new pvc windows in or doors and generally don't get knocked down and they try to save the property. Great explore even if there wasn't any signs of any cells as you said they were portable. Peace and love x

I had a different opinion on the bldg. don't think it was older than about 1900. Over the years new features were added, fluorescent lighting etc. what struck me most and not mentioned was the Victorian gate leg arm chair/wooden on the ground floor. It was the oldest furniture item there. They dated to about 1890-1920. It was really pretty and under that gaudy paint a solid wood, probably mahogany. Upstairs a wood dresser, plainly built on legs, that was pretty old too. Don't believe the property ever had a dirt floor. I wonder if there was a crawl space or cellar to this bldg. as you left the ground floor to the upper right of front door INSIDEthere were two little boxes that may have been some type of alarm system. INTERESTING EXPLORE.

Cozy, durable place to fix up. It looks like only the inerds of this space need to be replaced...of course, lead paint would have to be carefully removed while wearing a breathing mask.

Interesting Place. I know You tubers don't like to be told to much.. but as a nurse I worry when you go into these old places you don't wear any breathing masks... I know.. I am old and probably overstepping but there is a lot of mold and asbestos and lead paint.. and many other things .. Protect your lungs.. once damaged.. its done. .. I really enjoy your videos..

Small police stations decades ago would book a prisoner and then called to have them picked up by county sheriff's as they had no jail cells .

There's some furniture in there I'd love to get my sander and chalk paint brush on! I saw several diamonds in the rough. What a shame they are just going to waste! Some of those pieces look a lot better than the overpriced "vintage" craigslist junk available in my area. Also, at 16:16-16:20 looks like the face of a black wolf like dog peeking out of the bottom right corner of the window. Creepy
