You do great reviews, keep up the good work. I bought the Vibe before seeing your video. This is my 3rd entry into mechanicals, after 2 Corsairs. I freaking LOVE my Vibe and see myself potentially getting addicted to this hobby if I'm not careful. I went with Clears, which do seem 'scratchy' (actually they seem contaminated with ashes or pumice) for the first minute or two, but after spending time typing on them the perception of friction goes away. It's also great to get PBT stock so you aren't stuck wanting to upgrade right away. Agree 100% as this being a great first entry to the hobby.
My biggest complaint is the incline or lack thereof. Wish Vortex went a bit steeper with the 2 removable feet. Should have went with true sloped SA caps or 7-8 degree incline. Stabs are amazing. Vortex kills it.
Hey, I have this keyboard and only now realized you could use ijkl as arrow keys. That, combined with remapping fn to caps lock is a game changer. Thank you!
I really need simultaneous number pad and arrow key functionality. Is it possible to program the F1-F4 keys (or some other keys) as arrow keys while also having the numlock activated to I can have full use of the number pad?
Can you give me any links or places to search for information On how to change layers and key mapping for the vortex software. I have a core and can’t figure out how to do it at all
Thank you! It doesn't come with any backlights from the factory. I think there is some engineering sample that came with RGB leds, but I'm not sure if there's any plan to release that
Appreciate that response. Ahh, that's a bummer. I don't care for all the fancy rgb light, but i've gotten so used to backlights that it feels weird without it at all
They are SA profile, which is similar to Topre Hipro in spirit, but not really in execution. The Topre caps have deeper dishes, which is better recreated in the MT3 profile.
Only two design flaws (imo) and one regret on my end. design wise: even with the removable feet, the incline is unremarkable and nonexistent. Secondly, it makes zero sense to include full RGB leds in the engineering models, but no options for such with retail release. The clear-encased switches looked so much better. extra: lack of room inside frame to do any permanent dampening. On my end, wish I'd hone with a heavier switch. Cherry MX Browns feel ultra mushy, light and hollow with these thin SA caps. MX Clears or Blacks would have sufficed.
i wouldnt exactly concider $140+ an entry level budget, though, and the F-row and navless layout is pretty darn nieche for mere "users", who dont concider a console to be the superior way to use a computer. PS: as an entry point to small, mechanical KBs, the ak-33 is nex tto impossible to b3at. and laptop users will feel right at home. see if mechanical keyboards are for you, before spending big. they are loud.
I love the layout and keycaps. Nice review.
Nice reviews, keep it up!
thanks for uploading this! I was looking for exactly a layout like this... awesome dude! You made my day
Looks so clean!

Thanks for the review! Really good info. This is back on Massdrop as of now BTW.
Vortex seems to make the best off the shelf boards around, the only downside is that they are limited to cherry switches.
meh just solder
John Sihn desoldering is a pain in the ass and most people don't want to do that. If they offered BOX switches that would be really sick
yeah cherry switches is like the bare minimum of a good switches, they're good in some part , but not exactly excels at anything
@@Ferrichrome agreed, and for anyone who never do any soldering before, you probably will sacrifice a switch or two, and even worse, a socket or two
I would love that they will introduce the box and gateron ink/yellow switch
Sweet. I'm your 300th' sub. :D I like your reviews. Keep it up!
Interesting layout. Could be a good home desk keyboard that is smaller than full size but still useful.

Nice review. This bezel is indeed slim but I wouldn't call the K-Type bezel huge.
I gave over the weekend. Picked up two Vortex boards because I am fiend. Two days later, pre-ordered two more KBs @ mech..k...b.com
I need AA.MKB.
Looks super nice.
I think this could make for an excellent keyboard for enthusiasts too :)

Just use SpaceFN layout and use arrows differently.

Nice vid
Great review, just clarifying, this doesn't come with any kind of white LED backlight or anything does it?
Thank you! It doesn't come with any backlights from the factory. I think there is some engineering sample that came with RGB leds, but I'm not sure if there's any plan to release that

that keycaps.... is it just me or is it similar to topre hi pro caps minus raised edges at the top?

No arrow keys tho
damn XDA is king
This or va87?

Cherry MX Reds are not the smoothest linear or Red for that matter.
is this mechanical? i want membrane one
This is mechanical. I'm not really up to date on membrane boards so I'm not sure if I can help you find one in this layout
ew
Ewwwwwww

being a 60% with a numpad is like not being in 60% LOL
Mmmm, your voice is so soothing. Nini every body.
