brilliant! I am currently planning to build a guided helve hammer , but i really like your design! steam engine tech-who'd a thunk it? I also like your laminated anvil, as i have not figured out how to square off an 8x8 steel bar.
You got my attention when you mentioned steam. The same technology was used aboard US Navy vessels as feed-water and fuel pumps for the boilers. The auxiliary valve shifts on the upstroke and downstroke admitting or exhausting steam from each side of the main piston; known as double-acting. This ensures a smooth and constant delivery pressure. Very simple and very reliable. Are you incorporating a double acting design or is yours spring-return? Darlington, South Carolina
VERY, VERY GOOD DESIGN, sir ! You made it, with ALOT of ' throat ' space; making for probably 300 degree, work area, around hammer HIT area. For good movement, over the dies. Also, just as good as any ANYANG air hammer ! With alot less floor / head space needed. How much air supply storage /compressor do you have ????
Our system is pretty easy on air consumption. I have a 30 year old c'aire compressor 5 hp two stage with an 80 gallon tank. I have had 2 MZ75 hammers and 2 KZ100 hammers running on this compressor at the same time.
Ah do you sell this size anymore, or just the 75? after all sometimes you need more power to really move the metal with a larger hammer for the really big stuff.
+Perry Thomasson - I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner. The plans for the hammer frame are free and can be sent to you via email, but it does not include the plans for the control kit. We also sell the hammer or just the control kit. Contact me via our website at: kensiron.com or email me at ken@kensiron.com

double acting
I'm going to reverse engineer my own power hammer with steam hammer linkage. I just needed to figure out the linkage, and I just had a eureka moment!

Thanks for sharing. I'll be stealing some of your ideas👍
If only air hammers weren't so expensive to run...
Awesome

Nice
