Love on a real train by Tangerine Dream performed by students at Eskilstuna Musikskola (Sweden). Only acoustic instruments were used.

Back in the very late 70's I ran a small music group in a primary school in Colne, Lancashire (UK). I played a few selected TD tracks to them and tried to show them how to follow each layer of rhythm and melody as they listened. We then chose a favourite melody which was easy to learn. Then, using glocks, xylophones, chime bars and claves, they deconstructed it. From there, I only intervened where necessary and by the time they came to perform in an annual event at the local Music Festival in Colne Municipal Hall, they had created their own interpretation which began with rhythms and then jumbled snippets of the main tune which gradually coalesced into the main melody. Somewhere I still have an old cassette recording of their rehearsals and final performance. This UA-cam upload is a real credit to your imagination as an educator and I'm sure both audience and musicians will have gained an enormous amount from this brilliant music.
@@thomasrydell I just saw this video. Very nice idea. I wasn't sure what to expect with a piece that I too love. With all the modern 'filtered' and 'personalized' music streaming systems out there, it's rare that people are able to stumble onto new music that doesn't fit their known preferences. So, congratulations for introducing them to Tangerine Dream.
What is truly amazing is their use of "classic" instruments to reinvent an electronic masterpiece! Bravo!!

A tribute to the great musical creation of XX century. TD were among the pioneers of electronic music and someday it will be recognized that all this period was an intense burst of creative genius. To teach children to understand (and love) this music is a first great step. Congratulations to the teacher for the idea, and to all for the performance, was amazing and beatifull to see the hapiness in the faces of all these children.
What I also love is the fact that they're performing for a very young audience who will hopefully have started to understand how to listen to so many layers of rhythm and melody at the same time - that often being the essence of TD's music.

@@thomasrydell Sorry, just a "bit more than the average fan". Listened to this song for more than 30 years, so I "know it by heart" so to speak. Loved the use of guitar from 1:02 and how well it fits the original tune. I've read somewhere that even Edgar Froese (RIP), the founder of Tangerine Dream, came up with that particurlar part improvised on the very same guitar he used on the openning of "Cloudburst Flight".. Perhaps Cloudburst Flight or Choronzon could be a future cover-project ?? I know that lots and lots of TD-fans would love that..... The accoustic part of Cloudburst Flight is so perfectly crystal clear that you can even hear Edgar's fingers gently slides along the strings, his breath, the sticky sounds of his lips separating when he focuses on his playing, the aftervibrations on the strings and more........ They have so many melodies dying to be covered!
