Carrying on with my Dialing In... series for the Helix and HX Stomp, in this episode I take a look at one my favorite Delay effects we have in the Helix, the Transistor Tape which is a model of the Maestro Echoplex EP3 tape delay. This is a wonderful sounding delay that has a lot of possibilities once we understand what the various parameters do. I really hope you enjoy the video and that it helps you to be able dial in your Transistor Tape in a more effective manner.

Man, thanks so much for helping us to understand all the power of each delay... I’m really happy with your channel! Cheers from Brazil! 🇧🇷
Yet another totally awesome tutorial from the master blaster! Thanks Jason! As always, concise and right on point. You just literally addressed something I was often wondering about.
Hi Jason
This is great stuff, and the continuation of this series should be extremely popular and appreciated.
Love it.
Cheers and Thanks
Neil (Australia)
Great content and tips as usual.
Believe it or not but I had never realized HX Edit could show amp/cab/fx icons instead of names 😻
Thanks!
You're not alone - I didn't know till I saw this!
Thank you for your in depth explaining the way you do in your videos .. It really helps !!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK !!!!
Jason, great video AGAIN. I would love to see more of these. These controls are not really explained anywhere I can find (in manuals and such). This is extremely helpful in understanding the granular controls available. Some of these can be confusing and your explanations of how they interact is important to understand. So grateful for your extending your knowledge to us.
Excelent, finally understood how tho maximize the stereo effect using this delay, thanks again Jason.
always remember wow and flutter were the sign of a worn tape,,,new out of the box old tape delays were pristine
@@TristanJCumpole battery? all the origionals are mains powered actual tape delays
One of my favorite delay effects in the Helix. Thanks again, Jason!
Good Stuff Jason
I didn’t know it yet, but this is a video I’ve been waiting on. Awesome work, dude 👍👍
I really appreciate your videos especially focussing on a single aspect. Thanks a lot!
Without being too demanding (I hope), I'd like to have a video about the builtin cabinets. It's often said, the builtin ones are not that good as the IRs. I found, the IRs often have a lot of "early reflections", which seems logical to me, as they are recorded in a room or so. I would be very happy about your expertise.
Scale at 100% means left and right are both at the time indicated. Scale changes the rate of the Right Delay, at 0 it's pretty much 1ms so it "muted". at 50% it's playing at half the length so in your 1/4 example it's playing an 1/8th delay on the right side. etc. etc. spread is pretty interesting on this one. it's almost like it's using two copies of the same buffer at 0 and doing actual dual modeling at 10 with two different EP3s
For headroom, I've noticed that on some patches I'll get a nasty clipping sound, and if I turn up the headroom on the effects, it gets rid of it. Not exactly sure what causes the clipping to start with, but I'm thankful that the headroom gets rid of it!
Good stuff, JS! Keep it coming, brother 👌🏻🕶 ✌🏻
Loved this one, very informative.
Never knew exactly what the spread and scale did,so thank you.....Maybe for your next one you could do the Vintage Digital Delay...that’s my favorite delay in the Helix..
Cool as always brother .
Thanks my brother :-)
awesome video Jason. You rock. To be honsest even with headphones on I couldnt really hear how the Wow/Flutter control changed the tone. I didnt hear the "out of tune" part at the end of the trails. Doesnt mean it wasnt there.... :) Keep it up.
I always follow your fantastic videos with a lot of interest and I also bought presets on marktplace that sound very good. there is a lot of talk about helix for guitar, but it is an excellent multi-effect also for bass ... it would be fantastic if one day you could dedicate a video also on the sounds and adjustments of the electric bass !!!
Love your work Jason!! Would you mind looking at controlling clipping without losing volume or tone please?? That would be handy for us live players for sure 👍😊 cheers!
Is there a manual that has this info in textual form?
Versus having to watch a video on each individual effect block?
Need help. Made patch for Flock of Seagulls I ran for cover band and the delay Trails aren't spilling over. I have Trails on in all three snapshots.
Is there not a way to use tap tempo for delay time with this effect?
Do you know if the new HX One has the same parameter adjustments for the take delay as the rest of the Helix family?
