Catherine I’m a garden center manager and we have bee hives in hollow pillers , the honey is never harvested and when they swarm we call the bee hot line so they get rehomed, I adore them and we often have little hitchhikers on us x

Greetings from Florida! I love your gardens! I am working on a memorial garden for my cats this week. I've lost several over the past 15 years and they are all buried in one section of my garden. I have purchased some memorial stepping stones and figurines to put in the garden, and a tiny birdbath to bring in the birds they so loved to watch. All the plants have shades of lavendar and purple and pink, which I hope will bring the bees and butterflies. I am hoping it will be cheerful to look at and not sad.

I bought a big Japanese Maple, Bloodgood, at Costco. Went for eggs and avocados. ha ha
At my garden center I purchased vegetables. Tomatoes, bell peppers and onion sets. Doing well. Picking tomatoes daily. Yummy.

My partner and I just put a pond in this week!! Very exciting. We have some water lilies, some reeds, and some pitcher plants (native to my area). Our favorite garden center also gave us a couple of free tree frog tadpoles with our water plant purchase.

My husband and I have been spreading bark mulch in our garden beds this week. My hope is to buy some more flowering perennials this week to fill in some gaps, this too along with weeding the front garden space. So far it's looking fresh and ready for summer. Hot temperatures this past week, so getting an early start for cooler conditions works for us.

Here in the southern part of the U.S. we haven’t had rain in over 3 weeks & the temps have been in the upper 90’s so I would be crazy to buy a new plant & plant it in this heat wave. We are constantly watering. ❤

we have a veggie garden in raised beds and I am usually a container type gardener! Except for when we pick up perennials, those I actually put in the ground! your garden is so awesome! hope that you mom is doing better. thanks for sharing! xoxo
Hi Catherine. I hadn't even finished planting what I bought on my previous trip to the garden centre than I was there again getting a few more plants lol I bought myself a hellebore, a dicentra and a white butterfly bush this year. I was so pleased to see that most of the perennials I bought end of season last year had come back especially my Bruneras 😃 you're the reason I got them! I find my garden is really doing nicely this year!! Cucumber beetles are back though 😫but we'll see if we can't share the bounty this year! Love the bee update. So interesting.

Catherine - I've found that, despite the fact that I don't grow vegetables, I have a wonderful Fennell growing beside my roses! I have never planted any kind of vegetable so it must have come in on the wind or via the birds! I love it, so wispy and unexpected with my roses. Love your garden and the chats!

I built a walking bridge to one of my flowerbeds. The bed is 8' wide and about 40' long. I call it my river of flowers. Filled it with dwarf suflowers . Take care.

A walking bridge, that sounds so romantic!
It's purpose was practical in nature allowing me to cross the flowerbed without having to go all the way around or without crushing any flowers. It does add a touch of whimsy or romance as well.

Your garden is looking lovely. Well done for taking a step back from things while you need more time. It’s so important to look after yourself as well in times like this. I have grown angel wings from seed for the first time this year and they’re absolutely beautiful. The slugs got a lot of them but those that made it are my new favourites. I’ve also planted some nemisia which are super pretty. I’ll definitely be buying more next year, I’ll have to see whether they’re something I can grow from seed.

Hello amazing young lady 😊 love your videos. Another way I plant seeds is toilet paper roll or paper towel roll. Cut those to size. Make little snips around the bottom and then fold in. Can a little glue. Everything can go right into the ground when ready.

Catherine, all your bee info brings back good memories. My father had bees when I was young so the bee things have been a great reminder of my youth and the honey he’d have from robbing the hives. Hope your mom is doing good. I pray for you and your family every day. God bless

Take all the time you need to be with your Mum. I have planted three different lavender plants and they are all dong great. I have dusty miller and pink orchid sunpatiens that are just gorgeous. My Front garden is mostly purple and pink and silver except for a pop of red variegated geraniums. I also have some blue lobelia three different shades of blue purple. Love how things are progressing.

I bought some Peony tubers, as I’ve finally worked out how to grow them properly- don’t plant too deep. I’m also trying to grow from seeds, some plants which can be used to dye fabric - Madder, Indigo, Weld and Woad. Love your roses and the bee footage !❤
Im from South Africa and we call it companion planting.
I do advise one use crop rotation for veggie beds if you do no dig method.
I think you need some silky chicks.❤
Lovely vlog as always. I’ve bought Borage (heard it’s good for planting around vegetable plants), field poppies, cornflowers, a foxglove and a few alliums recently. Planting out my echinacea and trying to keep my cucumber plants well watered. Boy can they drink! Have harvested several already and loads of garlic bulbs. No idea how my new plants will do but I keep trying. Trying to control the Verbena in my garden and I have 100s of caterpillars 🐛 eating my Nasturtiums (better than eating my bean plants!) Huge 🙏🙏🙏 for your Mam’s recovery very soon. 🤗

We just got a calypso rose for our garden, but being in zone 5A it’ll be a little touch and go to see if it makes it through winter 😅❄️

This year I've intetplanted vegetables and flowers. Tomatoes, jalapeños, sweet potatoes are in the same bed as zinnias, cosmos and marigolds. I also have other pots of veggies and flowers scattered around.
Since all my outdoor plants are off to the races and doing their thing, I've been treating myself to more indoor plants. I spent quite a bit of time at the garden center recently googling each plant to see which ones were safe for cats and dogs. I got a Hoya and a Peperomia!
I love the Salvias and the Dahlia you got for the front, so pretty. I also bought a new kind of Salvia this year, it's a Purple & Bloom Salvia, Anise Sage.

Catherine my husband has a classmate from school who owns a wholesale plant farm locally. That man posted on Facebook beautiful ferns for sale which were “leftovers” at a great price around Mother’s Day. So we went out to buy some.
WELL! He was closing for a month and said go get what you want, I’ll make you a great deal! WOW! For $60 I STUFFED my car! They’re mostly annuals, but my garden is gorgeous! I particularly love ferns and have a very shady lakeside home. I bought several foxtail ferns for $2. The garden center had them for $27, in a smaller size. Mmmm it’s so beautiful and I was abundantly blessed! Hope he lets me shop again next year!

I also love going to the garden centre as soon as it opens so I can walk up and down the aisles in peace. I search out plants I’m not familiar with and try to learn the names and growth habits.

I have grown, stocks, night scented stocks, hollyhocks, foxgloves, sweet peas, gyp, mauvecpoppy, sweet Williams, from seed.
I lost many but managed to keep quite and few. I grow tomatoes and potatoes with celery and herbs, all in a few beds.

Hello Catherine, your garden looks great. This year I have grown kale, carrots, green cabbage, Blue Lake beans and peas also Zinnias from seeds, all are doing well. Wisconsin has been getting great rain and all is super sized. I have not bought any new plants but have been swapping with my neighbor. Take care

I LOVE their pollen heavy thighs! It’s the first time I’m raising cut flowers in my beds. Last year was the first time I mixed perennial flowers and veg. Everything did so much better. Wish me luck on the cut flowers - fancy zinnias. P.S. Sending your mom healing thoughts.

I have raised beds where I grow veg and tomatoes. I grow cut flowers in my regular flower beds andI do sometimes mix vegetables into f!ower beds too.

Went to the garden centre this weekend! Gave myself so much work to do cos I had to weed my veg patch before I could plant what I'd bought 😂. Now to make sure Peter rabbit and his cousins don't eat em all 😉.

I have bought something nice for my garden this spring. A little wooden sunny outdoor greenhouse and I painted it bright yellow. Love it. And I grow a few sweet peas for the first time. I love trees and flowers. And you are such a beautiful, kind and lovely lady. Love watching your videos 🤗

@@DaintyDiariesI was never a big fan of the color yellow but as the years pass I have developed a love of yellow.. light pale buttery yellow at first but now the bright yellows are one of my favorites.. it’s weird how tastes change as we grow older
I love mixing our vegetables with the flowers-it helps pollination and looks nice ❤ this year we're doing mostly flowers to let the soil rest from years of heavy feeding vegetables. I'm excited to see all of the flowers ❤ your garden is beautiful

I want to grow cut flowers also. I do plant wild flowers for our bees (we also have a hive) and they work wonders in our garden. ❤
