I'm new to your channel but have watched a couple of videos so far and really enjoy your easy-going style as well as how clearly you explain things. It's so helpful watching playthroughs like this to get a sense of what it would be like to play myself before making the decision to fork over big old wad of cash!
Just tried to play this with my son and trying to follow all the things in the rules is not easy. I think in the long run it will be great with all the abilities once you get used to it. But I wish we had watched your tutorial first. I appreciate you making corrections in editing also. So many things to keep track of! Subscribed.
A little late but I think that you do not take the mob item effect into account but only their dice on the enemy phase? Since the setup only shows the attack die of the mob item while under the mob card.
Thanks for putting together this playthrough. After watching Ive decided this isnt the game for me. Thanks for helping me save the $80-100 on this game
I am little late to the party, but this was a great tutorial demo. I want to get into RPG dungeon crawlers, but they are typically overwhelming due to the amount of content or they are really expensive or both. This seems reasonable all around. Thanks
This game is so daunting as a painting project because you never really know which minis you need to have painted for a given game. Bardsung has specific monsters for each chapter, so it's easy to be like, "I'll paint everything for the first few chapters" and get on with your life. ;)
@JayPlays And Bardsung and Massive Darkness 2 arriving at my house one after the other ... I'm getting on with my life. I'm done with miniature games. Wait, what's that on KickStarter!?! I'm back. ;)
@Dazir Studios Thanks for watching! A guy in our game group played the necromancer, and it was fun to have the enemies rise from the dead and fight for us! :)
@28:19 I didnt think weapon skills were applicable to mobs? I think the only thing you use from the weapons for mobs is the damage type (range, magic or melee) and number of dice rolled
@@DaletheCasualGamer yeah interesting, reading the rules again it doesn't outright state it. However in all the images they show the mob weapon card required under the e mob so that it would be covering where weapon skill is. Definitely an interesting difficulty modifier either way
@@harmarize I know it's been months. On page 17, under Spawn Enemies, it says to place the Mob Item under the Mob card so that only the bottom part of the Mob Item is visible. This with, as you said, the example images only showing the dice visible under the Mob Card leads me to agree with your initial comment about not using the weapon skills.
It was an extra in the kickstarter campaign, but now GameGenic is selling them as token trays ...www.gamegenic.com/product/token-silo-convertible/?attribute_pa_color=green-lime Happy gaming! :)
31:44 A bit confused about this. It says in the guide "Each Enemy minature: 1XP to the Hero that killed it". However the mob leader is not a minature and so I don't think that you should be adding the 1 extra experience plus the 2 XP to everyone else. It should just be 2 XP to everyone I feel (at least to the other character that didn't land the killing blow). That's it :)
Where does it state mob leaders are not miniatures? Page 4 shows enemy miniatures which includes minions, leaders, roaming monsters and bosses. Page 20, ... For each enemy miniature killed, the attacking Hero gains 1 experience. If the killed miniature is a Mob Leader or Roaming Monster, all Heroes gain ADDITIONAL experience: 2 for mob leaders and 4 for roaming monsters. Hope that helps, and happy gaming!
At 31:09 you did the after combat recover from the shadow power. I believe the says "every" hero so the ranger should have gotten that opportunity also.
@@DaletheCasualGamer One question I had from the video: Do mobs get the ability from their equipped weapon? The rules don't seem to say anything about this, other than they cannot gain mana.
@@Spyryt193 That is what the rulebook seems to indicate. Though allowing for them to use a weapon ability could definitely add a layer of interesting difficulty
Excellent! Thanks for sharing. I didn't back the KS, but have a copy on the way. I made the purchase after Tom Vasel raved about it! Also, I see your heroes are painted. Awesome job!
@Tony Bowers I painted some, but so far away from the entire game. I think I may have reached my limit for painting this year ... oh look, Marvel United X-Men just arrived at the door! lol Glad Tom Vasel and I agree on this game! I haven't delved into the campaign yet, but having a blast with the one-shots, and so has my game group. :)
was gonna play this tonight but after spending *two hours* setting up the game we realized we were missing some pieces and had to put it off till another time till we found the pieces
Your correction about the mob weapon is incorrect....you did things correctly. It specifically says and shows a picture with just the dice available so mob weapon actions or effects only happen when a player is using those weapons. Mobs dont use abilities....nothing in the rule book mentions it and it seems to be community consensus
@hypnotoad55 Thanks for watching! There were a few 3D sets for Massive Darkness that included doors, traps, and chests. Totally worth it as I can use them for RPGs too. :)
I love the player plasticity thing. Sure I can think of a number of ways to improve upon it but taking player convenience into account during design is a plus. All those cards need a card holder cathedral of some sort and a smaller rack for the player. It’s a good old dungeon crawl. Speed leveling! That will keep my player interest high. The dice will take some getting used to what with rerolls and such but that hopefully comes with a couple of adventures. Overall I’m very positive but would like to see something other than a skirmish.
@@DaletheCasualGamer You ask that while I’m suffocating under MU shrink wrap? I was given permission to agree to the pub we visited this evening. I have a reception at the same time boardlandia is having their sale next week. She thought that was endlessly amusing.
For my learning style, this is easily the best how to play for this game on the internet! Thanks again, Dale
You're very welcome! And hope your adventure goes well! :)

@@DaletheCasualGamer yeah interesting, reading the rules again it doesn't outright state it. However in all the images they show the mob weapon card required under the e mob so that it would be covering where weapon skill is. Definitely an interesting difficulty modifier either way
Maybe use MD 1 rules where the Mob can only attack/react based on weapon type.

What is that organizer you have for the small pieces to the left? I need it 🤣
Gamegenic makes token boxes which are great for many games and they come in different colors. :)
great play through

Hey, where did you get your yellow/orange token organizer? Love how that one looks.
It came with the all-in pledge. Not sure if GameGenic will do a retail release for this, but I bet it would be popular!

Tha me for the video. It looks fun. I have the game but dread putting it on the table because it looks like it will take an hour to set up. 😬
If you have all the expansions, I suggest just starting with the base game! :)
How many skills does the ranger have to choose from? like the other classes I'm confused or one at a time with that class?
Hi Dale, thanks for the tutorial! What is that token box you have? Looks lot like a Gamegenic Token Silo, but its bigger and has more sections.

And in campaign play, it will go to minus 10! :)
good stuff Dale... too much stuff and too little time... good luck with trying to play it all...
