a lot of people just point the left arm out to look like Federer. Instead if you use the left arm to push the throat of the racket it will guide the unit turn and keep it from separating, and also keep the shoulders more level through the unit turn. Thanks for the tips bro I can't imagine hitting with Djoker
Thanks so much for your comment. Exactly, that's crucial element in forehand. And for sure, playing with Nole is super special! Please if you can, share this video with few friends who you think might also enjoy watching it.
Thank very much for the help. Have just getting back to the court for years the lag and the newer rackets exciting. The tip on unit durn was were I got to with this use of the free arm it really help me from making the mistake of just use the hiring arm with no turn.
I would always tell students that nothing is ever 'wrong' just less effective... i would then go on to tell them 'there are many ways to skin a cat..but id rather skin it like federer'....
Thanks so much, really means a lot. Hope it also helps, not just sounds good :) Please if you can, share this video with few friends who you think might also enjoy watching it.
What I have found that when you hear 'split step on time' nobody actually tells you when is this 'on time' and how to achieve it. I struggled through it a lot myself and only recently I watched a video where a guy actually says how to be on time when doing a split step. So, without further ado, here is the tip. You have to be in the air when your opponent hits the ball!
What I'm going to do is show you all the things you don't want to do on the tennis court and once you eliminate all the negatives the only thing left will be positive does that make sense and this is a whole new way of teaching and I hope that this will separate the positive from the negative
This and your backhand video have already helped me understand why I'm not getting as much top spin as I was shooting for (racquet head too high). And the slow-mo really helps underscore your explanation. Thanks for the useful tips!
Thanks so much for your thorough comment. Super glad to hear that our videos help you improve. Please if you can, share them with few friends who you think might also learn something from them.
I really like your videos. And, this one is exceptional. It's a no nonsense series of tips that show what saps pace and spin from your forehand. Also, I like that you teach, AND play matches and points frequently. I like it when we can see instruction put to actual live situations. Some online instructors don't play points, matches or even prolonged rallies. When you do see them try to put their money where their mouths are, they look stiff and mechanical.
There's one thing I'd like to correct on your swing I don't know if you do this on your swing or not but this is what a lot of players are doing and why they're never improving on their top spin forehand basically I'm going to ask you several questions regarding your top spin for hand number one when you take the racket back do you close the face question number two when you make contact with the ball is the face closed do you use your form at all when you produce topspin
Curious, I was always taught to use the left hand as the "guide" or "target" almost forming a targeting a reticule on the ball while my racket arm pulls back.
@@tenfitmentennisimpulse In second mistake we have one moment too. It is left arm. Which direction to move the left arm after we let the racket to strike. I think it is common mistake too. Thank you guys for video again!!!
@@АртурОвасапов Great point! Left arm has an important function of balancing the whole shot (same as on the one handed backhand), it should prevent us from over rotating, but at the same time it should help us to initiate better hips turn.
Hello , thank you for the video ! 😁 Can you give me an advice , I have the mistake that when I make contact my left arm goes the other way around my body creating counterweight. Instead of staying it in front of me and then catch the raquet
HVALA UNAPRED!!!

Hi Milan, I used to play well many years ago and I am returning again to tennis. However, my swing speed is not what it used to be. Any tips to increase the swing speed? So far, I have been using heavier racquets ( 375 grams - which is what I used to play with) and although when pressured I get late on a lot of swings, I get a benefit when I go to my favourite lighter racquets that feel like a feather comparing. Any tips regarding this? Also, on the windhsield motion, a lot of times, especially under pressure, I am hitting the frame. I havent recorded myself yet, but I feel like that happens because of my lateness on the swing due to lack of response soon enough, due to being out of tennis for so long. What would case for me to hit the frame?
Thanks Salvador for sharing this. Definitely get a lighter racquet, that's too heavy. I don't think you need anything heavier than 315g. Frames happen for couple of reasons: slow feet and not good positioning, wrong timing of the swing, bad bounce of the ball, etc. Try to see which one is in your case and work on it!
Let’s add, late contact which is most often a reception skills problem and tied to no split step, which shows they’re not watching the ball throughout the entire point cycle.
If the ball is going to be say 6 - 8 feet or more away from the split step, how can you start the swing, you need to run to get in the line of the ball right, can’t run holding arms and racket up in weird pose!
Most made mistake by miles isn't mentioned. Most recreational players are too tense. There is no muscle relaxation. In result they don't have a smooth motion. Resulting in the kinetec chain breaking down. This problem can prohibite the legs from extending or bending. The hip doesn't rotate forward same goes for the shoulder. Etc. I think you can only improve after you solve this. Making all things said relevant to work on only after the most important fix. Relax those muscles a relaxed muscle is a fast muscle rhe way I see it.a tense muscle is a strong muscle. Do you need strength or speed to hit a fast & hard ball? Only look at the top athletes. Combined the ball contact point it is why some need to grunt 😱 yell after contact of the ball, when they hit the ball to keep breathing to stay relaxed following through on the shot, that is also why they can't prohibit it either FYI.
"Windshield wiper" motion is a popular myth? Maybe there is some misunderstanding? Tennis coaches with 100K+ subscribers recenly showed that wrist is passive during contact point on the forehand(except some specialty shots). Even Nadal has a passive wrist during contact point, it is activated only after the contact. Is there a risk if recreational player thinks about windshield wiper he will spray the ball and frame the ball, lose control and power? Dear Milan, could you please clarify about this issue? How recreational player should correctly understand this "Windshield wiper"?
Thanks Enrico for your question. It's acceptable in terms of having a bit more time and playing with less spin. However, I notice more and more WTA players use shorter swing on their forehands.
Great insight!! I'm not a pro, probably more like advanced beginner (3.5/4.0) If you are in the bay area in US I would really like to hit with you if you are around :D
These are called small adjustment steps unnecessary small adjustment steps prior to coming out of the split step this is got to be one of the worst things to do this is point number one I consider this awful
I got a funny feeling that this man don’t play tennis well at all. He tried to use top pro to explain and demo his lesson But all fundamental reason are all wrong. Like he ask to swing immediately but it should be turning waist and the arms are supposed to turn together. I feel he just try to explain a pro’s movement from his guessing. He is a lair.

do you think the big swing is a mistake also for the girls, or is more acceptable for the female players?
It is more usual and as such more acceptable in social terms of of the pro tennis scene. Girls should fix that mistake also.
