Thanks for the comment. The B50 has rolling bearing mains & big end, so doesn’t run with significant oil pressure at all. I’ve never measured it but it won’t come close to the 441, which I think has plain, hydrodynamic bearings (?)
@@Greeves Big end is bearings 250 is shell bearings I run an Alpha bearing. Still only when oil is cold does it rise B50s had same reading. I have had like b50MX and the SS b50 Not sure switch trips that low but at start up yes sometimes. Pretty much drops to 2psi even. Known B50s to use it to feed from timing for cooler oil to rocker as well.
I chose not to fit gaskets. I used Welseal alone. Welseal went out of production for a while but is available again now. I've always used gaskets before but reading the Rupert Ratio engine book (p29) he advocates using Welseal alone. No gasket makes fitting much easier too - it's easy to mess up the gasket, especially if a cover doesn't fit straight on first time. It's been a year since I refitted the timing covers & no leaks so far 😃 Good luck with your engine! I've run the presure gauge on my 441 and it can reach 25psi for a second or two but settled at 5psi higher with revs.
