Great footage especially of the docking, always a bit scary in an unfamiliar marina with Marinero's you don't know, but you smashed it ;) Have a great time in Marmaris, it's a great town & hopefully see you in a couple of weeks as you head up towards Didim
@@SailingABSea We live in Akbuk, you could have come over for a beer if it wasn't for the weekend lockdown! maybe if your here tomorrow we could meet up?
Well you smashed it! I was really impressed with your backing up skills, that was definitely not an easy task! Looking forward to see how you guys like Marmaris, it sure looks nice. Best wishes and take care, I hear the covid numbers in Turkey are high, just like in our eastern part of Canada, stay healthy!🤗👍
Hi, really enjoy watching your videos while we are longing + hoping to get back to our boat in Marmaris, hopefully this year. The bit where you mention the depth of 1600m, if you look a bit further south towards Rhodes the depths go down to an amazing 4000m! We stopped off there once just to experience swimming in those depths. Incredible.
(Baz) It's crazy to think that there's 4km of water under your boat. I love scuba diving but something in the back of my brain would make me think twice about swimming on the surface in 4km of water. 😜
Just watch out for submarines 😁 You said before you are heading up the coast towards Çeşme, if you can go a bit further to Bademli. Laying in the thermal pools on the shore edge is a great experience
Çeşme was the plan and Bademli would be doable, however there are now restrictions on crossing Turkish province borders during Ramadan, so we'll have to wait and see what happens. 👍
@@Orhaniye38 now that sounds like something I'd love to experience. But as Baz said, we'll have to wait for the border restrictions to be lifted first.
Well good to see you got the Fire Drill done :) You do have time to repair the Damage done by there ill placed fittings . Just take note where the Fuel Dock is just saying lol Stay Safe .
I can understand you. I was just surprised to see you leave the helm to attend the lines when the boat was still moving backwards. Anyway , the result was good. My marina in Berlin is proportionally looking as narrow and each maneuver in or out is a challenge so I can really understand your feelings. Canan and I were hoping to go to Kas in 2 weeks but unfortunately the authorities are going for no travel policy … It really is sad 🥲
Yes we remember you telling us about your tight berth and how you negotiate it. Travel restrictions are obliterating many people's plans. We hope to see you both sooner rather than later.
Tell me how they managed to get the bowlines on as did not see them being picked up from the pontoon. Also can you tell me about the fuel cans you have on deck? Thank you
The marineros go ahead of us and pick up the slime line and then wait in the middle of the fairway. Once our bow is positioned in the berth one marinero in the dinghy attaches the slime line to the bow cleat while the other takes the stern lines. Strapped to the side decks we have 2 x 20 litres of fresh water, just in case something happens to the 600 litres we carry. Plus we have 2 x 20 litres of diesel which would give us 8 hours of motoring, enough time to get us to a harbour or an anchorage should we empty the main fuel tank.
@@SailingABSea thought it was something like that. As for distance between pontoons take a look at the aci Marina in Dubrovnik!111 bows are almost touching . Lefkas too!
Well - that was weird - you backed in great - and the wrangler left Aannsha hanging. Am I wrong - that dude was giving you guys a chilly vibe. Didn't seem too invested in working with you.
@@SailingABSea - Ah - let's just say - if you've nothing good to say - just say how great the Kas Marina is. Did they end up charging you for the damage?
Hi Kevin, we don't have any prop walk with our Gori folding prop so A B Sea goes backwards easily. We don't have any steerage until we are making some way backwards through the water. So the combination of needing way for steerage, no prop walk and a bow thruster just makes it easier for us. 👍
Most Med mooring places require you to drop your anchor, slime lines are rare, however most Turkish marinas have slime lines, most Turkish harbours don't have slime lines.
(Baz) Agreed, that's what stern lines on the cleats are for. Like I said to another comment, the marineros in Kas marina are worth their weight in gold.
Nice parking job there Baz. As Billy Connolly would say. "Smart but casual".
We do like a bit of Billy's humour. Cheers Al.👍
Well done Baz, nicely done. ⛵️
Thank you kindly. 👍😀
thank you guys :)
Our pleasure Ni Ko. 👍
Great video as usual, loved the docking part.
Glad you enjoyed it. 😀

Thanks. 😀 We're anchored in Akbuk Bay just east of Didim. Making plans today about where to next. 👍

We're planning to move tomorrow, so maybe we can catch up for a beer on our way back down?

Hey Samai, they'll never know it was us. 😂 We should fit one of those beeping devices that trucks have for when we're reversing. 😜
Smashing indeed!
It was an oops moment. 😵
Look at Baz just standing in the cockpit looking around like he knows what he's doing lololol
(Baz) That's not me Shane that's a stunt double who does know what he's doing. 😂
@@SailingABSea hahahaha well done to the stunt double
Looking forward to exploring Maramis Castle. 🏰
We'll do that on our way back down, the plan is to get as far north as we can, then slowly go back south.

Great vid as always, when you hit anything on the canal boats or your boat is scratched they say its a contact sport lol :-)
Gotta have some humour about it Freddie. 😜 I think the marinero was having a bad day. ☹

Ill placed fittings indeed mate. 👍
I know covid times aren't the best but some advantage is you are going to places that would normally be packed 😁
Agreed Sara, we are enjoying that we are the only tourists in town in most of the places we visit. 👍
If you think that mooring is boring , then do it the way Captain Ron does it .
We could never be as good as Captain Ron. 😂
I could hear your hart beating crazily hard during this maneuver … Well managed, and yes, it looked much more challenging than in Kas !!
(Baz) It was actually one of those rare moments when I was glad that we had a bow thruster and I had it armed and ready to use. 😀

No they didn't, but the video only just came out, so who knows. 😀

Thank you for watching, commenting and being a subscriber. 👍
How and when did your pick up the bow line?
We didn't, the marinero in the dinghy does that part of the job. 👍
@@SailingABSea Thanks for that. Good to know. Is it the case that in some Med moorings you have to drop your bow anchor as you back up?

sorry, but both of your dockinglines belong to the stern of the boat ready to be thrown. your climbing around is then not necessary.
Agreed Hannes, since this video was filmed we have changed our procedure as you will see in future videos. 👍 😀
I believe your slime line was too tight and that ‘created’ the Yo Yo situation. Good vid tho.👍
Thanks Norman, experiencing different marinas and different marineros is proving to be interesting so far this season. 😀
Farting sparrows.. lol.
