@@achillesrodriguezxx3958 900 yrs is not much to have any detrimental mutations. That's just few generations which is not enough time to mutate. Unless the "accelerator" would have a side effect that would cause too much change. My initial thought was because of the nuclear reactor + accelerator but the movie confirms that is not the case.

The scariest part of this movie was when the innocent crew in pods were ejected/vented into the void. Imagine waking up or being awake, seeing yourself floating out into the darkness, knowing you'll run out of oxygen and no one will come for you, dying afraid.

In a sense, that's how we all die. The realization one is about to die always comes as a surprise. And no one and nothing in the world will come to save you from the eternal abyss once you realize it's your time. It is something you face alone. And you have no control over when your time is up. And we're almost never given advance notice. Have a nice day :)

What is so genius, is Bower wasn't actually suffering from pandorum. What he was feeling was the affects of being deep under water for too long. Gallows was in his head at the end, making him believe he was suffering from the illness. Also, the things mutation was accelerated from dwelling in the reactor chamber, thus the no body hair appearance. And the aquatic blue skin was a mixture of radiation and the dampness caused from the elysium sitting in the depth of Tanis ocean.
    Brilliant writing an instant classic.

Earth is gone, so it could tell about humanity starting on a new planet, if they salvaged any technology or genetic samples from the ship, and if there were any other dangers to overcome on the new planet. A prequel could better explain what led to the ship's launch, and the destruction of Earth. I would like to see both if they ever made them.

Pandorum felt like an 80s scifi similar to aliens. Then it dropped that concept for mental gymnastics for multiple plot twists. I was upset it stopped being thriller turned more into drama.

Agreed, great movie... I met Dennis Quaid once at a movie shoot he was on in San Pedro Ca. about 9 years ago. A down to Earth guy with that annoying "Actor Ego". I asked if we could talk about his roles in Pandorum and Wyatt Earp as Doc. Holliday. He enjoyed both roles but found that playing "Doc" was a little hard due to the weight had lost in order to appear gaunt. He had to self sequester when meal time came to help avoid craft services. We talked for about 10 or 15 minutes, it was good.

I watchee this movie with my stepdad a long time ago. I remember two scenes in particular. The first being being where that guy gets his throat cut by a child cannibal with a spear or other bladed weapon. I remember it so vividly because at the time i was afraid to watch Horror movies. And although i think this falls more under the umbrella of sci fi and survival in space, the dark atmosphere and psychological elements were almost too much for me to take at the time. Lucky for me we watched it during the day. But i remember that scene because of something he said to me. "Behind every sheep there is a lion" and that stuck with me. Even though i was a kid, i knew exactly what he meant by those words and that partially shaped me into the person I am today. Because i know not to trust or underestimate people based on their appearance. Because that same little boy you're hugging today could stab you in the back in the future.
The other scene i remember quite more fondly is the cooking scene. And it's all due to one line....
"Taste kinda like uhh.... hmmm. Herb and buttered dog shit."
When we first heard that line, my stepdad and i laughed for like a straight 2mins. I said to him laughing, "wait how does know what that tastes like?" And he said "well we don't know how long he's been on that ship!"
Sometime later i asked him if he wanted to watch the movie again and he started grinning and said "wait you just wanna hear 'buttered dog shit' again!" And then we both started laughing.
The only other time i can recall him laughing so hard was when we watched the medicinal fried chicken episode of south park. The part where Randy accidentally knocked his balls out of the wheelbarrow and started bouncing all the way home.
