FINALLY I see a video of the collapse of the last part of the ice arch! All the others I've watched till now have either ended before it fell, or missed it. This is a process that happens every few years, so there are multiple videos on UA-cam, shot from different places.
Fun Fact: The ice bridge collapsed not because of melting, but under the tremendous pressure of the glacier advancing. Perito Moreno is one of the world's only glaciers that is currently expanding in size at the same rate (at least) as it's receding.
Once this starts, if they wait long enough they may catch it all. The water keeps eroding, pieces keep falling, and although losing some weight may help to delay the collapse, it doesn't matter because that glacier is still moving and crushing whatever is left, which gets thinner and thinner and easier to crack. The outcome is inevitable. I'm glad that they filmed it all, in many other videos people only film parts of the glacier falling, but not the full arch collapse.
Mejor pónganse a leer y a estudiar.
Gracias.
Dislro here from the Dispro's baked again and leavina silly comments channel. Loved your video and I'd like to use it In an upcoming documentary I'm making called " Old baked guy searches for ice for his gin and juice but ends up tossing Spencer in the ocean for not getting his raincoat". Thanks in advance.
da la sensacion que hay otra gravedad, que caen mas lentos, como que una manzana no cae a la misma velocidad que esos bloques. Sera mas alto que lo que parece, por eso
Of all the videos of the bridge, this is the only one where I've seen it collapse. I imagine it is rarely seen as it often happens in the night, and only every few years too.... and the guys kid was looking for his Dad's coat...
@@GranadaFelish I've been to the lake multiple times and actually missed a collapse by a single day. I don't speak Spanish, so I'm fairly clueless but I think that I'm right in saying that once the ice reaches the far side the lake level starts to build up behind it. It certainly looks like this is the case because there's a very definite 'bath line' around the lake. Obviously the water pressure doesn't break the bridge, but I assume it eventually forces it's way under it. I'd love to know if I'm right here.
A million tonnes of ice about to magnificently fall into the ocean..."Hey Spence can you grab my coat? Hey Spence go back to the hotel room and make sure we locked the door. Oh and also see if i left my bag of peanuts on the dresser, gonna need a snack in a few hours...Hey Spence, I've been meaning to tell you that you were adopted."
1:46 pause the video and you can see what looks like a man's face above the play/pause icon in the iceberg. Looks like he's laying down making a sad desperate face

Thank you for the information.
That said, it's still not a good situation 😕
@@BeasleyStreet it’s a neutral situation, like it raining outside, or a nice sunny day.

This is worse because it will take another 2-3 years for this bridge to reform.
Mother nature sure does alot of stuff that is not only scary like tornados hurricanes. But stuff that is beautiful incredible and amazing.
Mother nature is a dick to ice bridges
Here's your coat dad - what did I miss?
Hahaha
Poor Spencer, he missed it when he went to get the coat! 😬
His dad said "Never mind".
Dad: “Hey son, get me my raincoat”
Son: “Sure Dad”
Glacier: *Emotional damage!!*
Thanks for posting this!

Hey Spence can you get me my rain coat, the poor kid missed the collapse. @ 1m 50 sec the poor kid misses the event.
But listen right after he says “Hey, never mind” so maybe Spence did not miss it after all. I hope.

How long was that formation there i wonder?
Probably since the ice age
That was what I was wondering, because I found it kind of sad.
About 4 years, it forms and collapses in about 4 years in the same spot.
