Reminds me of when I used to do karate as a teen, and one father of a girl at class try to encourage me... When he unexpectedly passes away, I dedicated to win the tournaments for him. I only got second place, but hearing this song feels like he is nearby.... *manly tears*
I'm torn between whether this or "You're The Inspiration" in EBA is the saddest Mission in the Ouendan/EBA series. EDIT: Adding "Over the Distance" to that list.
This one hits really hard, the lack of supernatural elements and no plea of help (which the past two games both have) and the fact that it was pretty much Mana's fault that her sister died and she feels that she has to carry the burden of their dream now puts it above the other two for me. The choir in the last segment of the song, and the last piano notes always make me tear up a bit ngl.
I've always hoped that a figure skater from Japan, or maybe another country, would do a routine to "Believe" at the Winter Olympics or even a smaller competition. That would be amazing. Also, for some reason, seeing "Yeah, I'm fine now" at 6:23 got me emotional all over again. I first played this level years ago, and got choked up then, not understanding any of the Japanese and going on everything else to understand what was happening...
As much as I love this level, its so unforgiving when you mess up once and cant recover much due to the meter drains faster in insane mode than you can hit the beats buttons.
Yeah, I had more trouble on this one on insane mode than on the final level. But I finally got a perfect S-rank, and the trick is to loosen up, especially on the one-two-three one-two-three one part in the third section--that one's make-or-break. The problem is going too fast, which you tend to do even more when you're not doing well, which only makes you do even worse. Ack!
@@GamingTopTen Mana coach said that she doesn't fit to skate like Mana's sister and can never be good as her. Mana felt extreme guilt for not making the promise she made after she died
It's not quite the same, but I did make a mappack some time ago in Osu! that was meant for Ouendan players, played with Ouendan style (no keyboard usage, played with graphics tablet rather than mouse). Thank you for making this - I always knew this song was pretty beautiful on its own when I first heard it playing it, but actually knowing what's being said in the sections really pumps those feelings. On the borderline of being teary eyed, believe it or not ^^'
This game is really one of the most purest and soulful games I've ever played, engaging, fun as fuck, and with one of the most inspirational messages out there,a real kino that everyone should play independiently if they know japanese or not.
I played this a gazillion years ago, and this was one of my favorite songs. Mana is my favorite character from the second game alongside the three crazy housewives and the werewolf boy, she is so sweet and noble, realizing how bad she treated her sister. Also, Mana helping the elderly Momotaro in the Countdown stage is pretty much awesome.
I had never heard of this game before but this story is sad and yet uplifting. Ai’s song Believe is perfect for this scenario. I’d watch a whole anime about this story from Rina getting killed to Mana skating again and her eventual medal.
They should have added a little extra notes for this song on insane it's so unforgiving to get all of the story parts successful especially the third part one miss or 50 you can't recover your gauge to pass it
If I made an Osu game, it would be Elite beat agents 2, except the agents travel around the world to help people, and there are even other agents across several continents, and in the final mission, they save the world in Japan with the two Ouendan teams
I know it wouldn't make as much sense, but why didn't they just make it so she just gets into a coma and gets to greet her sister at her great performance, albeit in a wheelchair? I don't really see why all the sad levels in the series have to do with death while what I came up with is still bittersweet.

This still makes me cry after playing it so many years ago
One of the best moments in gaming that I’ll always remember
Me too I am trying hard not to cry
Story: Onion cutting
Difficulty: Scoring ONE 50 and you are mostly dead.
One of many examples that show games as a genuine art form. Not only in the art department.
true. it's not just designs and appearances, but its true essence
when all of ouendan 2 levels make you laugh your ass off, this level make you cry your ass off
I'm torn between whether this or "You're The Inspiration" in EBA is the saddest Mission in the Ouendan/EBA series.
EDIT: Adding "Over the Distance" to that list.
Nameless Lang I think they’re all equally sad

If they make future games, I bet they’ll make more sad levels like these
Idk, I feel like the execution or how they put this level together makes this one way more emotional than you’re the inspiration.
So... you're torn between all of the sad songs? There's only 3.
The result screen was powerful The first time I played it. Here we have these manly dudes with stoic tears running down

6:17 I love how it looks as Rina's spirit is watching after Mina with all the care in the world.

Such a hard difficulty song, it's unfair to have to do that with tears in your eyes!
As much as I love this level, its so unforgiving when you mess up once and cant recover much due to the meter drains faster in insane mode than you can hit the beats buttons.

You get used to it
I'm probably going to regret asking this, but what happens in the cutscene if you fail the level?

What sucks was that a third game was pitched to Nintendo but they rejected it
@@thejman5683 Would be cool if they used the PS4 motion controllers for this.
I agree, and I need to see a sequel to Elite Beat Agents as well!
There's a game called osu! but there's no story tho: osu.ppy.sh/home

This is peak "Do Men Even Have Feelings?" material.
"I cant belive he didn't cry during Titanic!"
"Do men even have feelings?"
Where men cried:
@@MrJoo-zc5cd Second man: Cried to Over the Distance, their past fears in relationships long gone surfacing.
Third man: You're the Inspiration.

I agree with Mana she is my number one favorite Ouendan character
Hardest song in the game. Thanks for the translations.
You know this mission is sad when even the cheerleaders cry
Muy conmovedora la historia de mana 🥺 siempre fue mi canción favorita de este grandioso juego
Years after seeing the first videos of this level, here am I again, fighting a losing battle against renegade tears...
i'm not crying, there's just something in my eyes...
I do appreciate that the developers had the restraint to not have Mana cry for the Ouendan in her time of need
The changed victory screen was awesome when i saw it the first time.

なんか、普通に泣いてまった…
Somehow the two 50 you got both at the start of the first and third part of the song made it feel a lot more real if you ask me
Damn, the cheerleaders danced for 2 months straight.
Theirs is a fire that burns eternal.
Hey! Who put these onions here? :'(
If you are gonna use an old meme, can it be literally ANY video other than this one?
Mana and Rina's story must be kept pure at all costs.
Ninjas and their god dam onions
@@ianleather5699 This story is anything but pure, it's crude and realistic, and that's what makes it stand out.
The first and only time I beat this level on this difficulty is when I got a full combo.
That health bar is basically saying S rank or die😂😂
Believe is the only song yoy HAVE to get a A rank or S rank. Other songs will even let you get b rank
I cried a little playing this one
If there is one thing I'd want to see for an Anniversary re-release of the OTO games, is for the meter drain on this level to be nerfed.
God damnit I'm actually crying.
It's alright, she got sent to an isekai.
Guys are isekai'D girls become zombie idols xD
So glad I accidentally found this song after searching Baki the Grappler song 😭

There's two sad levels in this game, the bittersweet one is the second bonus level with the kid that has her crush moving away.
