The other night, my husband rolled over to cuddle me after turning off the lights, and had this song queued up to play. It was the sweetest "I LOVE YOU" ever! ❤
"If the bottom drops out, I hope my love was someone else's solid ground" Such a hauntingly beautiful song. This line particularly resonates with me because isn't that the ultimate goal? That your kindness truly makes a positive difference in someone's life.
“I hope my love was someone else’s solid ground” this touches so deeply to me. I am someone whose reason for doing something is for someone else. Even if I barely know them. They are my reason. I hope my love will be someone else’s solid ground. I can’t be the only one.
I learned that Orpheus was a mythological man in love who lost his wife and had a chance to bring her back to life thanks to his music that could touch every soul and living being. But when trying to lead her invisible shadow to life which he wasn't supposed to look at, he turned around by looking at her, lost her forever. Sara's ability to tell stories is such a gift to the world. She's a modern-day hopeful and brave Orpheus that makes every soul believe we can hold on to love and never turns away from it.
I certainly agree with all your points, I just would like to add that from my recollection he didn't give up in the sense that he just left her behind. He was explicitly told he can lead the way outside as long as he doesn't turn around to look at her. But going up he grew impatient and he couldn't hear her footsteps (obv she was a spirit) and so he turned around just before she faded aways and returned to the underworld forever. So if he had listened to the conditions to save her they could've had a life together but he didn't have enough trust and was impatient.
The times are only troubled because we allow a powerful few to set false narratives and oppress us with lies. What we need is not an anthem about misery from compliance to falsehoods. But, absolute defiance to lies and use of our common sense. Beautiful song, tho. Loved it
Literally a day before a live performance of this was uploaded to UA-cam for the first time I was talking my girlfriend late at night and I remember saying, "In a single year, or just a few months you can lose so much of what you love. All the truth vanishes. The people I loved all suddenly just changed beyond recognition at the end of 2016. And no matter how much I miss the way things used to be, I can't forget none of it was true." Next morning on UA-cam I hear one of my all-time favourite singers go: "I know you miss the world, the one you knew The one where everything made sense Because you didn't know the truth, that's how it works ’Til the bottom drops out and we learn We're all just hunters seeking solid ground" Sara is an angel. And may be this won't ever be a popular song or even win a grammy, but this is the kind of music that can change and save people by winning hearts. And that's all that matters. Thank You, Sara Bareilles.
@@strawberryme08 Obviously it's a quote out of context so I can't blame you for drawing any conclusion you like. But no, not "everyone". Not my parents, not my girlfriend... Just some that I loved and trusted for the longest time of my life. It's a personal matter that I'd rather put all out in the open. Just something happened, and I ended up in a hospital when I least expected it... And that's how you really learn who your people are. When people you have trusted all your life betray and let you down and don't even care enough to say sorry you finally see the truth. And yeah, may be people never really change. It's just I didn't know the truth of who they were. And I believed in my convictions about them bcz that seemed to be my only "solid ground". The point: This is the most personally relatable song I have ever heard. Sara's Blessed Unrest had some amazing songs that I had found relatable back then to. She's not like all those other pop artists out there dissing about their way too many ex-boyfriends. Her lyrics are not about her. Not pointed. Not directed. Not about anybody. Yet so many can relate to every word. That's real music. The kind we have no appreciation for these days.

What a beautiful commentary on your connection to "Orpheus." I love hearing about spiritual, in your case almost mystical, connections. I am awestruck when I hear Sara's first few tones. Been a musician since 4, Boston. Played in most of the bands and all the clubs. Sara mentions the drummer in this album, I think, and yes, he is truly gifted with Sara's music. Couldn't do it better :) Awesome, some, awes, ome.

More than any other singer, I notice how much Sara changes her voice, tone, phrasing etc. with each song. She never just opens her mouth and starts singing - she works each phrase so that it expresses exactly what she wants to say. And so many songs are sung with a unique approach. For example on her first album, on “Vegas” she sounds loose and kinda drunk; “Between The Lines” is bitter regret; “Love On The Rocks” is sassy; “Gravity” is a whispered secret. And it goes on like that album after album.
@@Invisiguy I love all the different tones in Kaleidoscope Heart. From Hold My Heart to Basket Case, to Machine Gun, to Bluebird... it's a nice ride of an album, and I totally know what you mean! That being said, her albums are so distinguishable by sound in general. I don't love a lot of Amidst the Chaos, but this song definitely is at the pinnacle of some of her best songs.
Brandon, Kaleidoscope Heart is currently her album that I play to death, too! I feel like her early songs were typically about working through her emotions, and - having already plowed those fields - on Blessed Unrest and Amidst The Chaos she is more focused on exploring interesting musical ideas. (As you probably know, Sara always starts with the musical idea, not the lyrics, which blew my mind since her lyrics are so strong!) ATC was the first album I bought, and I was hooked - but each additional album is a new “Wow...” I feel like the run of songs on KH from Say You’re Sorry on through Bluebird are like a trance - absolute perfection. That’s a real accomplishment for a sophomore album.
Why is this the best song written in the history of all songs written in the world… every time I listen to it I weep, the kind of tears that wash the heaviness and pain away and make me remember it’s ok to be alive. I’m so grateful for sara to share her thoughts and music and love with the world that’s gotta be scary but. I’m so grateful.
I’ve been listening to this one on repeat today. It’s just so calming and so wonderful. It makes me want to sit by a fire and gaze into the stars with my love’s around me after a horrible long day full of kisses and sweetness.
To me personally, the most beautiful song of the album. It puts a smile and a sigh in me every time I listen to it. I marvel on the mixture of feelings. Love the anticipation of knowing song eight is about to play. A dream song, poetic, meaningful lyrics, gorgeous melody, caressing vocals, sad yet hopeful, reminisce of a love that might make it or not, the uncertainly makes it so real, so emotional, enticing and precious... Love its magic beyond explanation, which elicits, all at once, something sweet, loving, and shattering in me. Thank you for this soul balm of a song. Love.
I've been obsessed with this song these past few weeks and I was in a French supermarket and heard it on the radio. It made my day. Thank you for your music and lots of love from France!
Definitely one of my favourites from this album. Love your music, your words... your artistry. Thank you for sharing it with the world, Sara. Really...
This literally my go to song when people tend to left me. This always lifted me up I should always wait for someone who will save me amidst the chaos, who is braver than Orpheus, someone who will consider my love to be his own solid ground
I'd be honored if some Sara B fans would take a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performance of her first hit LOVE SONG in tribute to one of the greatest albums of the '00s decade as well as to the release of Amidst the Chaos (Sara's FIFTH album!). Live acoustic on my YT channel with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and peace.
It's fitting that this is my favorite song off this album because "Cassiopeia" is my favorite song off The Blessed Unrest. Of all her work, I haven't loved anything as much as I love The Blessed Unrest, but this whole album came pretty close. Can't wait for more music from her, as always!

Every single time Sara releases new music I find what appears to be my favorite song by her. It's impossible to choose because, god, there are so many. But, as soon as I heard the opening melody for this, I knew I was in for a masterpiece. And, I can confidently say (at least for right now) that this is my favorite thing she's ever written. Its got some serious Leonard Cohen and Don McLean "Vincent" vibes and I absolutely adore it. This is the definition of timeless. Listening to it right now in the middle of a pandemic, I could just as easily be listening to it in a 16th century tavern or on a beach in Ancient Greece. Her poetry crosses genres and timelines in a way that very few can, and she does so with such grace and ease. The only thing you can do is be in awe - and I certainly am.

Sara is the only woman who can make me cry, every time.
Love from Antwerp, Belgium
Is zij al eens in België geweest? Ik zou haar ook graag eens live zien
Through tears.....I agree.
@@SweetestSmile21 'k Hou het in de gaten, zou ook dolgraag een optreden meemaken. Is sinds Eva Cassidy geleden dat een stem me zo kan raken, elke keer weer.
Groetjes,
Marc
2:09 I love her tone when she says "poison." I mean she sings it all beautifully, but that one word ironically comes out so beautifully.
Yes! It's just beautiful.
(As you probably know, Sara always starts with the musical idea, not the lyrics, which blew my mind since her lyrics are so strong!)
ATC was the first album I bought, and I was hooked - but each additional album is a new “Wow...”
I feel like the run of songs on KH from Say You’re Sorry on through Bluebird are like a trance - absolute perfection. That’s a real accomplishment for a sophomore album.
My favorite song from her new album. She's so fucking amazing
This is the most beautiful thing I've heard in a while.
My God this is extraordinary and so beautiful. Like warm sun on my face.
Dear Sarah. Thank you for this song, the honesty and kindness in it. This song saved me from an anxiety attack after a bad breakup.
this is one of the best music I've ever heard.
this was much needed during these uncertain, dark and chaotic times!
I,m just smitten with the beauty of this piece. Words are insufficient to describe the perfect wonder of this poetic melody.
This is such a soothing, hauntingly beautiful song. I love it.
Love.
this song should heal the world!
"I hope my love was someone else's solid ground."
One of the most beautiful songs she has wrote ❤️
I've been obsessed with this song these past few weeks and I was in a French supermarket and heard it on the radio. It made my day. Thank you for your music and lots of love from France!
this song is sooo beautiful a hidden gem...When i first heard this song while biking i need to stop and look whos the artist
We did not give up on love today. ♥️
Definitely one of my favourites from this album. Love your music, your words... your artistry. Thank you for sharing it with the world, Sara. Really...
How is it that you only have 5k likes for THIS song???? It is beautiful and has helped me/us heal. Thank you Sara!!!
This literally my go to song when people tend to left me. This always lifted me up I should always wait for someone who will save me amidst the chaos, who is braver than Orpheus, someone who will consider my love to be his own solid ground
This woman hypnotizes me! I just love her! Best songwriter of ballads out there right now!
Sara, thank you for sharing the beauty of your words and music with us! I am always amazed by your ability to convey soul-deep meaning!
Thanks and peace.
i will not give up.
this is the song that i need today
It's fitting that this is my favorite song off this album because "Cassiopeia" is my favorite song off The Blessed Unrest. Of all her work, I haven't loved anything as much as I love The Blessed Unrest, but this whole album came pretty close. Can't wait for more music from her, as always!
HER RANGE
"we are just hunters seeking solid ground... say out loud we will not give up on love today" That sums up life in a few words! Sara is a true artist that you can listen to a song and hear something new every time you play. I will not give up on the world to love!
I imagine myself dancing in the room with the man I will love for the rest of my life while this song plays. I hope that day comes. ❤️
Sara's song titles are deceivingly AMAZING!
The whole album is perfect this one 👏💗
Best song on the album 💖
i listen to power metal. this is one of the top 5 songs i have ever heard in my life. i am a christian, so i am not afraid to weep in the face of beauty, and so i hold this song in a regard that my lord gave to me to experience. god bless this song and sara.
Check out Saint Honesty if you like this one.
In some ways, this is my favorite song by Sara. I love it philosophically.
I would die for this woman ... so blessed to have her making beautiful music for us ❤️
Absolutely love the melody of this song….there are thousands of musical artists but Sara is a true song writer. Just beautiful 🥰
I love you sarah. thanks for making this song.
When I listen to your music at times it feels like you're singing directly in to my heart. So grateful for your existence Sara
This is my freaking favorite ❤️❤️❤️
Une fois de plus je decouvre cette chanson de Sara Bareilles qui m'emeut comme toutes ses chansons.. Quelle superbe voix. Dommage que nous ne l"entendions pas sur les ondes en France 🇨🇵🎶🇨🇵😍❤
This song is a f-masterpiece!
Love builds the world. It lifts us from the ashes of what was to become what will be.
I just heard this song for the first time today in a Sears and wow, I actually almost started crying in the middle of the men's clothing section. Thank God we've got music finder apps so I was able to find this song. This is beautiful.
This is perfection
What a stunning song this is! wow. Builds up so beautifully, hauntingly, sweetly.
I'm currently listening to hers and Christina Perri's music.
Sara is my favourite and this album is beautiful. The lyrics, instruments, her voice, the rhythms.
Amidst the chaos is worth listening 24/7
!!!
This is heartbreakingly beautiful
Gentility and power, ,wrapped up in a moment's expressive story-telling ! Lovely !
These songs stick to your soul and give solace. I absolutely love this cd and the artist herself.💖
La plus belle chanson d'amour jamais créée.... Impossible de faire mieux dorénavant. Merci Sara!
I listen to this song to put away all the stresses of the world and enjoy her awesome voice! Love it!
I already know that I'll love this album. Such beautiful songs. I will definitely go to your show (if you go to the Philippines).

Yes yes!!!
Been waiting for that day tbh ill buy the most expensive ticket haha
I think this is the best song on the album, though.
What a song.....what aaa song.
Come by the fire
Lay down your head
My love I see you're growing tired
So set the bad day by the bed
And rest a while
Your eyes can close
You don't have to do a thing
But listen to me sing I know
You miss the world
The one you knew
The one where everything made sense
Because you didn't know the truth
That's how it works
Till the bottom drops out
And you learn
We're all just hunters seeking solid ground
Don't stop
Trying to find me here amidst the chaos
Though I know it's blinding
There's a way out
Say out loud
We will not give up on love now
No fear
Don't you turn like Orpheus
Just stay here
Hold me in the dark and when the day appears
We'll say
We did not give up on love today
I'll show you good
Restore your faith
I'll try and somehow make a meaning of the poison in this place
Convince you love, don't breathe it in
You were written in the stars that we are swimming in
And it has no name
No guarantee
It's just the promise of a day
I know that some may never see
But that's enough
If the bottom drops out
I hope my love was someone else's solid ground
Don't stop
Trying to find me here amidst the chaos
Though I know it's blinding
There's a way out
Say out loud
We will not give up on love now
No fear
Don't you turn like Orpheus
Just stay here
Hold me in the dark and when the day appears
We'll say
We did not give up on love today
We'll say
We did not give up on love today
"I love every single song Sara Bareilles sings.....wow"
when she sings Everything in My Heart turns to gold💔🌹
Beautiful!!!
How paradoxical it is: She deserves a Grammy and does not need one, at the same time. ❤
This is so indescribably beautiful.
Thank you for your beautiful voice. Thanks for reminding us of love in these times! London needs you now!
Beautiful prayer plea that we all should be able to relate to in our lives if we’re human!!
this song is beyond beautiful.
This song was the imaginary hug that I needed to get me through a bad day. Sara's song writing skills are seriously awe-inspiring
My daughter and I haven't spoken in 2 years to say I'm devasted sad is an understatement but my faith and hope in GOD and believing in his timing someday I can say we did not give up on love today. You BNL will always be my hero and my most precious gift from GOD. Have a god filled day MOO
