I love practical survival demonstrations like this because it gives an opportunity to give tips you might overlook standing at a table in a "studio" like the wet wipes in a pocket. I would love to see your tips for lightweight survival camping in 20 degree temps. It's been regularly getting down that low around here lately and my pack gets heavy with a full MSS but I want to be sure I have enough for the temps.

Excellent. Your explaining the ‘why’ of doing things, such as moving the camp site uphill for greater warmth and for not sillouetting, was terrific. I was pleased to see you adding comments that you must’ve gained from being an instructor, such as, “now some would ask….” Because I was asking it as you said that! Neat. Great style in presentation without pressing it like a radio DJ on speed. Thanks for a heckuva class.

I'd like to see more on getting food. Maybe possum, porcupine, catch and cook in the survival situation. I don't know, that's more of a longer term thing. But in keeping with the " Not naked and not afraid theme." I love that theme. So I have watched a lot of naked and afraid. They mostly starve for 21 days. Let's do a 21-day Not naked and not afraid series. Show us how to thrive, not starve.

"Alone" is the only realistic long term/survival show, but even they jumped the shark by having a season with former contestants. Those always suck. Even Alone could have done without participants who added too much drama to the show. Just staying alive is enough drama. I would like to see a survival show that featured 72 hour bugout scenarios.

all great tips Mr. Morris, every single one, here's one more, sometimes carrying a small foldable umbrella is a good idea... you can deploy it halfway in/out the door of your tarp shelter, keeping both wind/rain out... it's small, lightweight and it doubles as an...''omprella'' too... 🙃

First camping experience I was 4yo. At that time there were no designated campsites in the north Georgia state parks. Also no latrines. Been camping ever since and experienced many changes in campsites and equipment. I also spent 2 years in an army ranger unit. Yes I earned the ranger tab.
Sometimes sleeping gear was a poncho and poncho liner. Tie liner to the poncho, lay it on the ground, poncho side down. Lay on half of your sleeping get-up, pull the other half over you, and you can stay totally dry in a downpour. I’ve done it several times.
I’m now 74 and dirt camping is a thing of the past, but if necessary I can do it again but the comfort zone would probably be much less.
Videos like this is very interesting in the equipment , knowledge, and techniques.
The only way to learn these skills is to live them. Not just watching them.
I like SD Survival because of the variety that is provided.

Survival shows need the drama so can get ridiculous but you can pick the bones out of them and pick up a thing or two, Bear's skills were learned through Lofty Wisemans survival training and many other fine gentlemen of precision violences experience. Would recommend a Survival or Bushcraft book or two and some instruction to help you pick through said bones. A documentary on actual survivors is a nice contrast too, not pretty and a lot less naked sunbathing though. Many of these survivors had to utilise litter, im glad you showed that and you gave another guy credit for passing you knowledge, a show of character that was noticed!

I do love the video, it seems real. I have been on several treks into the mountains of New Mexico and being prepared with the right gear and knowing how to use it in more than one way makes the trip much more enjoyable. It doesn't seem so much like survival when you know what to do and how to do it. I did learn a couple of things here. Thanks.

I have only seen a couple survival TV shows. One was Bear Grylls and I watched part of the Alone series that Clay Hayes was featured. Bear Grylls had good information addressing certain situations but he was doing thing that I wouldn't have done like climbing up or down a cliff face when there was a way around. I realize he was setting up situations that can arise but lots of made for TV drama. The A!one series I only saw a few clips and found the people in the series were very good given the ground rules were that they had to stay in a given area to look for resources. Clay Hayes I understand is a fellow Idaho boy. Glad to hear that he won the segment he was in. The Alone series also was set up to elicit drama for the folks in TV land however the emotion and mental issues of the contestants highlighted very real problems you can run into in a real survival situation. The techniques and reasoning the contestants brought up in the series was good. They illustrated that that survival in the backcountry is not as easy as the movies make it out to be. You may be a very good outdoorsman with vast survival knowledge but a simple accident or change in weather maybe at the same time may be the difference between life and death. I think I may watch more i the Alone series to see more of the knowledge and skills.
    Thanks for the video.

Feedback about sweat to consider I am a skinny guy with a high metabolism and I have always worked pretty hard before I reach a sweat. Lately I have been experimenting with my diet and one thing is consuming more easily digestible fat. Resulting in night sweats.
What I am getting at is if you have a few pounds you could loose it is going to effect your experience in the woods.
