I love the idea of the Heralds being tortured is just having to do a podcast together and the reason Taln was able to last 4000 years was because he finally had some peace and quiet and he only finally broke the exact minute that Chana popped up and he had to deal with her again

19:38 I have always thought of Forgery as like Hemalurgy in that it's more a craft than it is an innate power. Theoretically, anyone in the from MaiPon can do it, but only those who had the dedication to learn the "codes" actually do. I feel like save for the Elantrians, this was how it works for Selish Investiture as evidenced by how those who can use Dakhor really just need to be from Fjordell and be chosen by the monks to undergo the ritual

To Ian’s complaint about the Sibling manifesting physically as normal matter: In the Cosmere, investiture is a fourth state of existence alongside matter and energy, is it not? So while the most natural solid form of the Sibling’s investiture might be godmetals, because it’s still investiture that way, they could conceivably turn it into normal matter like steel and iron as well, in the same way that, while the easiest solid form for water to take would be ice, one could also conceive of rearranging the subatomic particles from the water to create anything at all. It’d presumably take a lot more energy, but it seems reasonable to me that a sufficiently powerful and knowledgeable entity could do it.

Also, before cheap aluminum, silver was the metal used to make mirrors reflective. Silverlight would be much more likely to be reflected from silvered mirrors than pass through a silver prism, because silver is amazingly opaque to visible light. A foil only a few atoms thick would stop 100% of light (ignoring fantastically unlikely quantum effects that have no practical meaning).

I just want to let you know: I was grinning the entire time this video was playing. Except the parts where I was laughing.
Pursuant to what David said: I am 100% sure that Hoid will end up burning that chip of Ishar's Honorblade. He's the only Mistborn we know for sure is on Roshar, and he's clearly trying to Connect himself to every Shard of Adonalsium. (One wonders about his very powerful Connection to Virtuosity, what with his being a professional storyteller and singer.)

An interesting thought when you combine "Would a dragon eventually get a breath in Nalthis?" and "Can you physically distinguish what kind of human/where they're from?" Would an Alethi born in Scadrial grow as tall due to the environment/gravity/nutrition? Allomancy requires a genetic component, so would a Mistborn born in Elantris have a shot at being both? Or would they Mistborn lose their spiritual ties to Harmony once taken by the Shaod? The crazy number of Twinborn possibilities x interplanetary immigration and boinking is gonna lead to some wild combos.

The gem question raises a couple of questions for me.
If I gave a blind person a gem and they tried to soulcast would they be able to soul cast it into the correct result if I lied about what it was. They can’t see the color. Would they get what they think it is? Would it not work?
Then if it was removed of color would they be uniquely able to soulcast it since they can’t tell it’s been tampered?

With regards to the Anti god metal question, I feel like the molten metal comparison should more be referring to the actual danger rather than the physical reaction. Uniquely, human souls on scadrial are i believe made of a balance of ruin and preservation investiture, even after the catacendre, so it would for sure kill them, just probably not melt their flesh.

14:00 - compounding steel! Infinite speed. How could the lord ruler lose to Kalak? I really want to hear this ability discussed on the podcast because it feel it is so overpowered, and totally underused in the misborn books as I would think most inquisitors be able to compound speed as they could all burn steel, so if they also had feruchemical speed they would always be able to compound with it. In Yumi & the Nightmare Painter, we know that travel between planets in the Physical Realm is possible. I was wondering-- travel between planets in the Cognitive Realm is only possible because inhabitants of the Physical Realm don't really understand its sheer scale. Naturally, going to another planet with a conventional spaceship would challenge and overturn those assumptions. So how does travel through the Physical Realm affect the topology of the Cognitive Realm? Is the UTol system effectively stranded from other systems?

I don't think Spren manifesting as "normal" physical metals is weird at all.
Shards can make Planets, whose metals are clearly digestible. Presumably Soulcasters or Radiants could. The Sibling could.
Brandon seemed to conflate manifested metals with a literal chunk of a spren, which would be a god metal and therefore different.
Also there's the whole mass Investiture Energy equivalence thing which "explains" Investiture turning into physical things and vice versa.

Borderline no way for a mistborn to beat a radiant of third ideal or above, especially if they have plate, the mistborn has to be perfect, they have to get perfect kill shots multiple times in a row and not once ever get hit. That doesn’t even count the surges too that’s just a shardblade. They may not even be able to reach the radiant, the radiant may be far more mobile than the mistborn, or be able to soulcast or make explostions, or stick them to the ground.
If it’s a 4th Ideal the mistborn has to put multiple killing hits through the tiny slit in the helmet while never ever getting hit.
With guns it may be possible but in melee it’s not. Plus the gen the best mistborn vin has some terrible feats when compared to Roshar level one of her best feats is killing cetts men and another is killing the koloss army. In both instances she is only performing at the level of a good shardbearer not even a radiant

    • @Lemerney
      @Lemerney Рік тому

With a couple of duralumin coin pushes, you could shatter plate, you can even do it with regular hammers. A Mistborn has more mobility than most radiants, their powers burn investiture slower, and so could effectively kite them until they pump them full of coins. Also, with Atium you're literally immortal unless checkmated, and that's very hard to do, even with Radiant powers.
