40 years later, still seeing new FZ sht. I totally thought this was going into a different direction. then i just got more insanely harder, this is different than anything i ever heard Frank do. It's fking nuts.
You nailed it. Wackerman and Thunes are great musicians that had that ability to promote Frank. I loved all of Franks drummers but Chad did have that gift to complement Zappa.
I love it so much when Frank goes into Lizard lounge mode. My top of the dome ride to work for 40 years. Usually talking about the crows and their no fks given.
I saw this tour/lineup back in July of 1984. It was in Berkeley California. Napo Murphy Brock was with Frank then but was let go (for whatever reason). It was my first time eating magic mushrooms prior to the show starting.
Every single note of the second guitar solo (aka Were We Ever Really Safe In San Antonio?) is perfect.

It's like Chad and Scott could read Frank's mind when he was soloing and anticipate where he was going with it. Fantastic performance.

Zappa was conducting.
FooBarr1 totally totally totally right!

Check out Thunes as he picks up something off the floor at 7:13!!!
Probably his pick
was Tommy Mars at the audience?
"Tommy Mars, Combat Proctologist"? A quasi-reference to why Mars wasn't on the tour? 🤔
@@TreyPhillips19693 thanks man, I get a little confused on Ike's words part, I couldn't get the right way on what he's saying until "Tommy Mars"

From what I’ve been told (FWIW 🤷🏻♂️) - Tommy didn’t like Scott.
@@TreyPhillips19693I heard a lot of the band beefed with Scott, don’t know too much about it tho
Were we ever really safe in San Antonio?
Is that something
@@joemz5052 It's the title of one of Frank's guitar solos.
Specifically the second solo from this song is "Were we ever really safe in San Antonio?" on the "Guitar" album.
tell them what they win, bob. so funny!
