I have the same tent and awning on a 150 Prado, it is so quick and easy to set up camp now, last trip it bucketed down all night, was plenty warm and dry inside with single canvas shut all round, water pooled up on awning after about 5 hours rain until I put guy ropes on awning , wasn’t a lot of pooling ( did see a bush company vid explaining that) then rain ran off awning. Brilliant gear you’ll love it
So Awesome to hear you’ve been having such a good experience with the same setup!! Yeah, We’ve been told the guy ropes work really well to stop the water pooling on the awning - will definitely be utilising them during those heavy down pours 😊
Looks like a fantastic setup. Can see that you have a ladder on the rear of your canopy. Can you enter the roof top tent by the ladder when the awning is up, or do you need to use the side entrance to the tent?
Thanks! Definitely loving the setup :) The tent comes with a seperate ladder that we use to enter the tent from the side when we want to keep the awning up for a long time. Otherwise, it’s also easy enough for us to pull the awning back enough to climb up into the tent and then hook it up again if we don’t want to use the side entrance as well 👍
We can yeah, the canopy door can open fully with the awning up. The two closest awning arms to the canopy door run parallel with the canopy doors, and sit outside of it. (If that makes sense!) 😀
When purchasing the canopy through MRT, what did you ask for on the roof so that you could mount the Bush Company's RTT etc? The price and build section on their website shows limited options regarding this. Cheers :)
G’day! Ours has three horizontal mounting channels welded straight onto the roof of the canopy. MRTs product code for these is ‘XSTCR’ I believe. These keep the Bush Company very flush with the roof. But in our case (Slightly poor planning on our part), we realised that only having the XSTCR channels wouldn’t allow the Bush Company tent to clear the roof rack on the DMAX cabin that we later fitted, so we ended up also having Bush Company mount some uni strut on top of the XSTCRs to get a bit of extra clearance. Hope that makes sense :). Feel free to message us on Instagram (@borderlandexplorers) and I can reply with a pic of the channels on the canopy if you need!

Banger guys!! If the rooftop tent is a rockin....
…it’s probably a wombat scratching it’s back on your tyre.
(That actually happened once 😂)

A long term investment for us 😀
@@BorderlandExplorers I'm pleased you will get your money back on it!🤸♀️🤸♀️🤸♀️
How much did both the awning and tent weigh?
G’day! The awning is about 33kg, and the tent is 99kg 😊
A lot of weight to put on that little vehicle
She’s all good. We made sure it has the GVM and constant load springs to take the canopy etc 😀
I think the right question would be, did you acquire a full GVM upgrade prior to all the weight on there?
If you put your 130kg mate in the back of the Ute would you think that’s a problem?
@@brettchattaway5242 im 155kgs 😂
@@screw1987that’s alright mate your probably very tall 😂
