I once watched a documentary about John McCain along with Barrack Obama on HBO back in 2008. At that time, I was still not old enough to vote, so I asked mom to vote for me. I made a comment to her that I do appreciate the heroic choices and sacrifice McCain had gone through being a POW just to make sure the rest of his brothers in arms have also returned home to their families. But I asked her to vote for Obama on my behalf, cuz I honestly saw a bit of myself in him
Nobody can live through the torture that John McCain went through. I served 20 years in the Army and hope that I wouldn’t be captured during the conflicts I’ve been in. John McCain is the finest airman that any country could have.

Most people don’t realize that because of McCain father being an admiral they had negotiated his release from Hotel Hanoi and he refused unless everyone with him was being released. This is an American Hero and the disrespect when Trump said I prefer soldiers that aren’t captured should’ve ended his political career.

There are plenty of McCain’s politics that I disagree with but I also greatly admire, appreciate and respect the sacrifices he made in service to country. Unbelievable sacrifices. This what I hate most about the current culture wars: how petty and toxic it’s become to disparage people like him. I pray the Trump era ends and we can get back to being able to love people we disagree with. Nothing could make us weaker as a nation than hating each other because of culture war BS being constantly fed to us from screens.

A LOT. 2/18/14: McCain flip-flopped on Bergdahl, initially saying that he would SUPPORT negotiating with the Taliban for a prisoner exchange, then 6/3/14, McCain rescinded on that view. 1/6/17: McCain _flip-flopped_ along with Lindsey Graham, on spearheading an investigation into Russia’s involvement into Trump’s election “win” and _then RESCINDED that support and backed Trump_ - as did Graham. 7/25/17: McCain rushed all the way from the hospital after being operated on for brain cancer to vote YES on the "discussion" to gut Obamacare/ACA and then turns around and votes NO on Obamacare/ACA repeal, like the complete maniac he was. McCain is no "good guy."

WooHoo! After everything she has lost, especially her political career, Liz shows the depths of her belief in our Constitutional governance. Her oath was literal, not just self serving words.
She did vote MAGA 93% of the time in Senate. I'm grateful that sedition turned out to be a bridge too far for her, but I don't see MAGA policies as patriotic, and with her deep bench of her and her father's political and corporate connections, I don't see her as losing her political career. I see her as ready to step in when the Trump contingent falls into disarray, and run for president on only slightly different policies.
Do not count her out of politics just yet. This stance of hers is likely little more than an opposing one to her Party that will enable her to run for POTUS if it turns out to be the winning side. In order to gain elevation one must position themselves carefully.

He loved his country, and shame on Trump for the disrespect he has shown to him, and others, who protected us even during their time in captivity by resistance, etc. These were honorable members of the military.
