    Thanks for this great video and detailed explanations. I am new to the hobby and I decided to use the products of this brand. At the 4th week (after brown/green algae) of my first tank I see something reddish on the sandbad (cyano/Dino?). I cannot see them on the rocks. I will use some bacto therapy and maybe use the bacto balls as well. :-)

    Great video Serge thanks very much, just going through old tank syndrome now . Couple of very small patches of cyano been adding aqua evolution balls but I’m looking for a product I can add to help use up nutrients from detritus as I have sand bed. Had a few sps stn that I ve had for 2 years plus, which is really sad . Other sps growing fine. All water parameter good kh 8.2, calcium 420, mag 1350, po4 0.06 , no3 6.7. Ph 8.3 daytime, 8.0 night time. Just sent icp off to triton so will see how metals are etc . Been looking at fauna Marin products so thanks for informative video 👍.

      Thank you for your comments. If you have never syphoned the sand bed… I think you should do it now, especially if your tank is on a smaller side. This will help the bacteria balancing process. Adding bacteria and feeding bacteria should be done on a regular bases, but even with that the detritus in a smaller tank will always be a problem. The point is in balancing the levels of bad and good bacteria. One thing I would say if your phosphate is 0.06 make sure that your iodine is line with that. Also, if your phosphates are low… in general the dkh should be as well, maximum 8. Fauna marine icp test and the result pages give you much more information than just results of the measurements. Ratios of certain elements and their relationships wold be more important than just bacteria balance in your tank.
      Fauna Marin bacto therapy would help, but the main thing is not to overdose any of their products.
      Let me know if you have any further questions.
      Regards.

      @@newwaveaquatics8002 just wanna ask you a question based on this video, as the owner of my LFS is recommending using rebiotics even as maintenance over bacto therapy or bacto blend when I am already using bacto balls. Is this a good idea or should i just use bacto therapy time to time to strengthen and replace the amount of bacteria in my already mature nano reef?

    • @newwaveaquatics8002
      @newwaveaquatics8002  4 роки тому +1

      @@arthurman9021 Hi, Well this is where I split my opinion... Why would a LFS suggest this. Is it money they make on the products... is it their personal opinion.. what is the reason...? Bacteria in all of these products is the same type... so there is no difference. If your dosing the bacteria at the moment is delivering the results, then I do not see the reason why you would change it. Bactoballs will replenish the bacteria in your tank which has died off ... and if you don't have any other issues that would be enough. Bacto therapy is good to compete with other unwanted bacteria... so use it if and the you need. All of us who are suggesting yuo al these products are only talking from our personal experience. But you know best how is your tank reacting and what works well for you. So don't change for changing sake and is there is no specific reason. I wish I had definitive answer for you, but I am always concerned when people give definitive answer about something we don't know "definitely enough".

    My nitrates are around 60-70 ppm but my phosphates are 0.04.will the bacto blend help balance it out?thanks for the great video

    • @newwaveaquatics8002

      They will not bring these two down. Phosphate and nitrate will need to be removed out of the tank. Bacto Brent would help the process of nitrification but not remove the nitrate. The two things which remove the nitrate most naturally are the algae or water changes. Algae would take some phosphate but most people would use some kind of the phosphate removing media. Actually phosphate of 0.04 is very good. But I think you need algae reactor for the nitrate removal.
      You would use the bacteria like these to support the nitrification process. It is to renew and add bacteria into the system.
      I hope this helps. If you would like to chat to me about your tank in more detail just get in touch. I’m always happy to talk to fellow reefers.

    Thank you for give us your experience. Do you know if Fauna Marin Red X really doesn't have any kind of antibiotics or medicine? I've just started to use it here in order to treats a several cyanobacteria outbreak

    • @newwaveaquatics8002
      @newwaveaquatics8002  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, We have used RedX on few fishtanks where cyano was very prevalent and hard to control and needed quick removal. As the things are and if know anything about Fauna Marin they would never use something so harsh to damage the living things in the system. However, I have to say these tanks did not have full range of corals and invertebrates. These were tanks where things have gone wrong and need quick cleanup. So if you are having the outbreak, I would first get an ICP test done to find out what is causing the outbreak. I have feeling that your good bacteria have lost the battle with the cyano and they might need help. If your cyano is not covering everything then I would try something like Bacto Therapy as this is adding good bacteria to help the fight. Just remember if you remove the causes of the cyano bloom they will go and you will not need to add anything. On our website www.newwaveaquatics.co.uk we stock full range of FM products, and if you are in UK please do not hesitate to contact me on my mobile ... its on the website ... all advice is free and with no obligation. All the best.

      @@newwaveaquatics8002 oh, so nice. Thank you for the answer. I'm in Brazil. I use regularly bacteria like Aquaforest, Brightwell Bacter 7 and Vibrant, but I guess that something is a little bit out of way here, even thow fishes and corals are going very well. I'm sending a sample to an ICP test this week. I am in a 4th day treatment with Red X and I didn't notice anything wrong with my fishes, corals and invertebrates. I really don't want to put any strong medicine here, because 2 times I made use o antibiotics the result after was a dinoflagelates outbreak. Fauna Marin suggest to use Rebiotic after finish the treatment with Red X, do you suggest Bacter Therapy instead of Rebiotic? Best regards

      @@reeftok stick with their suggestion. I was saying bacto therapy works well if the outbreak is small. Please, find out the reason of the outbreak and try to fight it. That is the only way you will get rid of the issue. Using any product to kill cyano, is not removing the cause of the problem. I know that this approach is much longer and it will test your patience, but it’s the only way to actually get rid of the problem. Good luck and stay in touch.

    Hi!
    I started to cycle on my aquarium using Bacto Blend and today I am on the twenty-first day of clicking and the ammonia levels have dropped to 0.4,
    but Nitrite and Nitrate levels in my aquarium are still high,
    what can I do to speed up a little more the cycling of my aquarium?

    • @newwaveaquatics8002
      @newwaveaquatics8002  3 роки тому

      Hi Elton, sorry for the late reply. Firstly please do not rush the cycling the tank... there is not prescribed timing for this process and the most importantly you need to give the time for it. Now, the one thing which helps Nitrite to convert into Nitrate is Fauna Marin Bacto Energy... but please, please be very carful with it as its very potent. I would cary on as you are and do a water change to remove some nitrate. I'm sorry if I did not answer your question properly, as one thing I know is ... there is no way of rushing this process or any process in the marine tank. Patience always pays dividends in Marine aquatics.

    Hi there, how do you find using bacto energy? Any advantage or disadvantage over other carbon dosing brands or methods? As i am currently thinking about using it in my nano reef that has been running for more than a year but has higher nitrates and phosphates than i would like to keep my lps even with large weekly water changes. Also i am wondering would it harm my reef if i use it only when i need to and stop whenever the nutrients are in an acceptable range? Thank you.

    • @newwaveaquatics8002
      @newwaveaquatics8002  3 роки тому

      I have experienced use of bacto energy with high ammonia only as we needed to move the nitrification cycle on. But if your ammonia is not present and you only have nitrate and phosphate, than I would not do bacto energy as a supplement. Nitrate and phosphate can be reduced by using algae reactor. Being a nano I don’t know if you have the space for it... if not gfo and water changing is the only way. Please do not use any available liquids removing nitrates as that might increase sulphate in your tank. What I’m basically saying use the water change and make sure that you keep alkalinity stable If you don’t have opportunity to install algae reactor. Hope this helps.

      @@newwaveaquatics8002 wow interesting information, i thought carbon dosing was supposed to be for nitrates and phosphates as well. How come bacto energy contains sulphate?

    • @newwaveaquatics8002
      @newwaveaquatics8002  3 роки тому

      @@arthurman9021 bacto energy does not contain sulphate. The product is a carbon source to support bacteria in the nitrification process . So, if you don’t have ammonia present then your bacteria have enough carbon source. Therefore, you don’t need to use it. If your tank is struggling to cycle ammonia, then your bacteria need a boost. If you see products which “remove” nitrate, I would stay away from them as they might be releasing other elements into the water.

      @@newwaveaquatics8002 Thank you for resolving my confusion. So it's better to use bacto energy from the beginning and continue rather than later when the tank is matured?

    • @newwaveaquatics8002
      @newwaveaquatics8002  3 роки тому

      @@arthurman9021 I think so, unless you had unwanted spike in Ammonia due to the dead fish or similar. I have setup a new tank just the two weeks ago and since the setup until today... we have brought ammonia down to zero. This does not mean we have cut down on necessary cycling of the tank... but we have established bacteria in the tank which is doing the job... don't ask me about the nitrates... they were of the scale ... so water change is due tomorrow... and then we gonna monitor it over the next two weeks to get things ready for the first cleanup crew and few fish after that.
