That is awesome. I seen another machine that basically tumbles in a forward motion and launches the feather off the bird while you hold it. This 48 in cylinder is adorned with rubber fingers about 2in wide 6in long and they just toss them feathers off that bird
Great video thanks for making it. What RPM is your plucker? I’ve tried using a similar one and even after scolding the bird for 30 seconds the feathers didn’t come out (at least not all of them about half the bird). Any thoughts on what I did wrong?
One very important thing when scalding is temp. To cold and feathers won't come off. 150 degrees is perfect. To hot and you can cook the skin. The most common issue is the scalding temp. If you are below 140 you will struggle getting all the feathers off. Hope that helps! God bless you my friend!
@@TheCookFamilyHomestead Thank you so much. Yes my temperature was 150°. There was a half an hour between time of slaughter and plucking. Would that be a problem. I thought I had my scalding temperature high enough
I'm making one from an old washing machine tub and I'll turn it with the tractor PTO. Wish me luck I'll either have a plucked chicken or raw cream of chicken
Don’t leave it in for too long waiting for 100 percent plucking. Also do like he did rinsing away the feathers so you can really see how much is left and further prevent over-processing.
@The Cook Family Homestead thanks. I used a Rubbermaid cooler and put several gallons of 140-150 water in it. It stayed hot enough to scald all 6 big cornish cross chickens. Was trying to avoid buying a big ass pot and burner to waste propane doing it.
For a few birds that would probably work, but for 50 it wouldn't. Surprisingly, it doesn't use that much propane. I just use a regular turkey fryer kit that I purchased years ago. The pot is perfect and it works great. Hook it up to a propane tank and it does the job!
@The Cook Family Homestead my cousin has one and if I start doing it for others for a little extra cash I'm going to use it and him to make it quicker. For right now I'm only culling those 6 and then all roosters of a certain weight or temperament when they get there. Good to know it doesn't take much gas, prices on that here like all fuels are nuts.
It could be two issues.....first, make sure you don't scald them too long. It will make the skin very soft. 150 degrees for about 15-20 seconds is good. Secondly, if you have a new plucker, the rubber fingers can be stiff. In fact, mine are starting to wear out and I'm replacing them all next year.
I’m not a chicken plucker but a chicken pluckers son and only pluck chickens till the chicken plucker comes I do wish the chicken plucker would get a nicer looking girl friend he takes to long and my plucking fingers are getting plucked out 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I got a KFC ad before this video played 😂
I got a tik tok ad, which Is why I searched this 😂
Bruh
Mad respect then
I’m eating KFC at this moment
i got popyeys
idk how to spell it lol
I didn't have my doubts on it working...but it was about a 100 times faster then I thought it would be, that's awesome
Thanks 👍 seen a ad on the marketplace for one and wanted to see how it worked. Works amazing 👏
Hahah, I'm here for the same reason
damn, that was much quicker than i had expected...
That's pretty cool!! Back in the day we use to do it by hand!! Thank you my friend! Take care!
I can just see my son taking the chicken plucker for a joy ride.
That’s a nice chicken plucker my daughter-in-law is excited she’s going to get one because she’s going to raise chickens up in Idaho.

That was fast! I remember having to pluck by hand when I was a kid, took forever.
Definitely saves a lot of time.
I feel you! It took forever!
Thats really cool!!! my grandpa does it by hand
This is a great plucking video!
Ikr
Thank you. That was a lot less gross than I thought it was going to be. I am going to get some chickens now. DRMLB
Very nice and simple 😁
That's pluckin awesome!!
This was horrific, do it again!
Idk why I’m dying laughing at this
I didn't expect it to be so fast, the chicken bouncing around made me laugh too
Nice machine 👌 💪
Bruh I searched for a satisfying video of removing pinfeathers from a parrot’s head and this came up 💀💀💀
LOL
@@TheCookFamilyHomestead I mean they weren't wrong. . . 😂

I got a Popeyes Ad before this played😂😂😂
That was quick!
This must be a ton of fun for the chicken. You can afterwards by how worn out he is from playing in that tumbler.
I really want one of those! Make plucking some much easier
Great video thanks for making it.

Are they going to make chicken pie?
Nice video, thank you for sharing.
Wunderbar!!!
Is there any post mortem bruising or damages compared to manual plucking? The neck looked pretty beat up. Just wondering.
Thanks for the demo. 🙂
Well we have bruising on our chickens neck after they are slaughtered but thats because we slit their throat and beed then out before we process them
Surely that process breaks bones
@@3life940 no, backyard chickens are surprisingly durable.
That's the part where they kill it...
@@razmalakataznia7969 huhh
Your shirt made me lol 😂
Idk why but these videos funny asf
Any tips on cleaning it out when done ??
I could not stop laughing the first time I saw on in action. I don't know what I was expecting but "Boot in a tumble dryer ASMR" was not it
amazing.
thats really cool i did it by hand and it gets really annoying with the wing and tail feathers cause they're so big
Nice. Do i have to finally pluck with my hands after this or it plucks perfectly?
Plucks perfectly! Just make sure you scald at 150 degrees. If you don't have it that hot, you will have to take off some of the feathers by hand.
How long do I need to leave the cat in the water before I drop him in the brush machine, he don’t like water
What size is that plucker?
How u put the feathers 🪶 back on the chicken
Does all that tumbling affect cause any rupturing of internal organs thereby tainting the meat?
Not at all.
that's a good question Lizzy
where can we purchase one and what is the cost and setup etc thanks for sharing

The name works but. I like the term pulverized chicken machine
Bad ass
does it work on turkeys?!?!?
How do you like your chicken? - stirred, not shaken
Lol.
Is that temperature suitable for broilers as well??? I hv a new plucker and it damages the birds any thoughts???

Where can I get bearings for the machine
I'm not sure. Never had to replace them.
Do you have to scald it first?
Yes....at 150 degrees.
