Yes, it is hard to accept such wisdom, because our emotions are so strong and so painful. Anger, indignation, disgust, exhaustion and so many other awful emotions can flood over our souls like poison when God does not deliver us from evil like we've asked. I have often felt demons trying to slime me with their emotional toxin (think Ghostbusters) and it is really the worst feeling on earth. I respond by declaring "the Lord Jesus Christ rebuke you" and "get out of here, now!" and their sliminess usually dissipates. I know that Ghostbusters is a fictional movie, but it's true how spirits work sometimes. Whoever wrote the script obviously understood that about the spirit realm. It doesn't seem fair that ancient, fallen angels "get a crack at us" to tempt us, torture us, and try to destroy us in the worst way possible - by driving us away from God. This is hard to accept because it seems cruel and unfair, yet there is no viable alternative.

Belinda, when you pray, do you end your prayers with "Thy will be done?" Jesus, who was without sin, the perfect only begotten son of God, prayed in Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done." None of us can pray death away. I was reading this passage before I happened across this video. Lewis said something true when he noted, "when pain is to be borne, a little courage helps more than much knowledge, a little human sympathy more than much courage, and the least tincture of the love of God more than all." Belinda, please know that we are praying for you. Many of us have no idea what it feels like to lose a child. We pray for God's comfort -- not 'comforters of Job' -- and peace in your life. God's truth and wisdom are a mystery at times and I pray that you have true Christian brothers and sisters in your life to see God's righteous purpose in all things -- especially when we feel disillusioned in the process. Belinda, when you pray, do you end your prayers with "Thy will be done?" Jesus, who was without sin, the perfect only begotten son of God, prayed in Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done."
None of us can pray death away.
I was reading this passage before I happened across this video.
Luke 14:26-27 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. 27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Before your daughter died, you used to pray a certain prayer; when she died, you quit praying it. That tells me that you weren't praying by faith in the word of God. If praying for protection seems pointless, that means a couple things:
1. You don't have faith to pray for protection. Our prayers must be based on the word of God. The Scriptures say, "whatsoever is not of faith is sin." They also say that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
2. Your inability to "pray for protection" has shaken your foundation. Where in Scripture are we taught to "pray for protection "?
So I would say, quit praying for protection until you can pray in faith.
It appears that you don't know how to pray.
Romans 8:26-28 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we do not know what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Do you believe that all things work together for good to them that love God?
Do you have the Spirit of God's Son dwelling in you? Have you been born again? Do you truly believe that Jesus is the only begotten son of God, the word of God made flesh? Do you understand baptism?
God deals with each of us intimately, because He knows our hearts perfectly.
Wow. Brother/sister, forgive me but you sound like someone who "jests at scars who never felt a wound." C.S. Lewis said something true when he noted, "when pain is to be borne, a little courage helps more than much knowledge, a little human sympathy more than much courage, and the least tincture of the love of God more than all."
Belinda, please know that we are praying for you. Many of us have no idea what it feels like to lose a child. We pray for God's comfort -- not 'comforters of Job' -- and peace in your life. God's truth and wisdom are a mystery at times and I pray that you have true Christian brothers and sisters in your life to see God's righteous purpose in all things -- especially when we feel disillusioned in the process.
