Jonas! I hope you are well. Thanks. Since it is basically impossible to get out into the backcountry, I have thought about a "ten essentials" video for quite some time. I thought it was timely given everyone eager to get back out into nature.
That was a superb rundown of what to take. I am going to try the Leukotape. For 50 years I have used moleskin, but this looks like it might be more comfortable. I usually put the moleskin on before I start hiking to prevent blisters. I have wide feet and it can be hard to get a good fitting boot and sock combination so this looks promising.
The Leuko tape is a favorite of PCT hikers. I either use that or duct tape for blister prevention. Anytime over a few miles, and I have found moleskin peels off. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
I agree - Great video. Liked the OR Alpine Bivy recommendation. Any idea where I can order a Hele Temagami? Looked online, but I'm stumped. Like your other vids also - especially Ruby Beach. Thanks
i run into newbies all the time on the trail who don't carry any type of emergency gear except a cell phone and maybe an energy bar or two... the trail runner crowd is the worst for this, most of those people don't carry anything at all thinking they will always make it back to the car... once, i was 7 miles up a trail and ran into a girl with an empty water bottle, she asked me where the nearest water faucet was... i'm not making this stuff up, it really does happen.
Great video! Was just thinking about sharing similar skills! Very essential!
