How the USS Carl Vinson Supercarrier (armed with F-35s) could be Unstoppable

  • The Carl Vinson was first ordered in 1974, laid down in 1975 and launched in 1980. She was officially commissioned in 1982 and makes her home in Norfolk, Virginia. She has incurred a variety of comical nicknames throughout her years of service and these include "Starship Vinson", "Chuckie V", "the USS Chuck Wagon" and the "Carl Prison". As of this writing, the Carl Vinson is in active service.

    I served aboard CVN-70 from 1998 to 2002 as an Aviation Ordnanceman. It was definitely Carl Prison back then 🤣 but hey...we won our Battle E and kicked ass in every way shape and form in all exercises and sea trials. RIMPAC'98 was a hoot. Earned my shellback status and got to swim in the open sea without life jackets. Great times! A young mans game tho. Hard work, and pride of service to that ship kept me going. Now im an old man in reflection.
    Go Navy! 🇺🇲🔱⚓🇺🇲

      Nice. Thank you for your service sailor. I also serviced on her, the Lincoln, and the Kitty Hawk from 92-98 as an AT-I in AIMD. Truly interesting times back then. I winder if they still serve shoe leather (steaks) or if it got any better. Lol. Also was fun getting my Golden Trusty Shellback recognition. That day sure was fun.

    I was stationed on this ship back in 1992-94. I was a young man from Indiana and rarely even seen open ocean but in Bremerton WA, I got to see lots of ocean and Vinson sure was a big ship fir sure. F-14 Tomcats and F-18 Hornets were the main air wing units. I was onboard when the rathole gym was built and I used to workout on the days when I didn’t make it off the ship! My second ship was USS Peleliu lha5 (decommissioned). I still miss running on vinson’s flight deck. My knee reminds of that daily!

    Imagine the f15 fully loaded with ARAMS , LRASM & heat seekers. The 15 can fire a missle any way the f35 request it to be fired. Then the F35 can take control of the missle & send it where it needs to go. So basically a F35 could hypothetically be a AWACS or any role it needs. To get a missle on target. The F15 could be a mobile missle carrier

      @boss for life, I’m surprised you are following this channel, in yet you have no idea about the considerable PLA expansion and aggression in the last 5 years . Yes, I think you’re right. Start defunding the military like Obama......there is no need for it. A few ships and aircraft is all that is needed. And while you’re at it, why not defund the police and boarder patrol. That would be wonderful. Well done.

      U.S.A.F Colonel bruh pla expanding??? They are in no shape to attack or do anything against the USA. If they didn’t have nukes, they could get crushed by the USA. The police have to be here because of crime and it is very clear they need to be here. But spending billions of dollars of your military when you could spend in on building the country, helping educate and care for the American people. China doesn’t have military power they have economic power also a big reason for their strength. Every dollar spend on the military is money that doesn’t go to the future of this country. Especially after the massive deficit cuz of covid.

      @@bcdushman Some war games are more realistic than others. Many times while we were training for deployment most of the crew had no idea what was happening on and off the ship. Only people directly involved were cognizant of it. We were not at GQ or war time cruising all the time as you suggest when an ASW exercise was happening. It depended on what type of exercise was taking place and what training was being taught at the time. I tracked a Soviet SSBN about 100 NM from the ship and there was no Condition 1 or 3 in place. I heard carriers are now outdated but no one really says why, i'm gussing it's because of missile technology. Given us Brits have two new carriers can anyone tell me what informs this view of carriers being no longer a good option. I mean if it is the case that its an outdated way of doing things, why have the US and UK got new carriers?

    Maybe we should replace all air superiority fighters and anti surface fighters with the versatile multirole F-35s. Reasons: F-35 can do any role that involves air superiority and bombing runs on surface targets and the other fighters can only do one role like the F-15s and the F-22s can only do air superiority.

    • @lloydholt6511
      @lloydholt6511 3 роки тому

      American guy Actually, according to the Air Force and Army the F15 is a multi role aircraft capable of dog fighting bombing and close air support. They were used extensively in both Gulf Wars. The F 22 aircraft has been successfully deployed against heavily defended targets. I have not heard of any actual F 22 combat dog fighting type encounters in a war zone but, it has a very good record in some recent war games exercises. I’m sure a little research of these aircraft would yield a better understanding of their capabilities.
