Perhaps, but most folks practicing serious logging with oxen question the durability to withstand the stress of the work involved. The New England style yoke evolved in the working conditions applied. It is durable, inexpensive, easy to build, and comfortable for animals.

For one thing, there is no chafing involved. Wooden yokes , of course, are cheaper, but cumbersome
