By the way, XX1 chain lasts A LOT longer than XO1 chain, and I mean A LOT longer. Cheers

Nice review, buddy! I just ordered my 10-52 XO1 drivetrain ( minus the cranks)! I've tried them on some friends bikes, and they're much better than GX! I've owned GX for over a year, and believe me on that.

How’s the clutch on the derailleur? I’m hoping to make may bike a bit quieter with this upgrade. I would be going from nx to X01, is the clutch much better?

Does anyone else have the 10-52t setup? I feel like the bump from 50 to 52 may be unnecessary, but I changed so many variables (1x11 to 1x12, GX to X01) that it is hard to really tell where my gains really stop.

If you've an XO1 10-50 then the upgrade to the 10-52 is definitely unnecessary, but , if you're like me, coming from GX 10-50 , then definitely 10-52 XO1 worth it ( with XX1 chain)!🤘

      I just swapped x01 11 to x01 12 10-52. I'd personally rather the 50 and go down to a 9 on other side. I ran an ethirteen 9-46 on my 11sp. I was happy with 46.
I splurge and went with the axs. I'm pretty blown away with it. I've picked up a lot of time shifting on climbs and technical sections. I've been riding since the 90's and never had many cable problems, but this year was a nightmare. I must've swap cables 8 times this past year.

@@Sr.406 Ooh, AXS! I am a little jealous. Obviously you are digging them, but do you think it was worth the price for the performance? I've been tempted to upgrade to AXS just because I'm a geek, lol.

@@KellyMerrell yes I really do like it, which offsets the extra cost. It was just another shifter on flat trails, but once i hit the climbs and technical stuff, l said Wow! to its instant response.

Can I use a new GX rear derraileur with a 10-52 X01 cassette, a X01 or a XX1 chain with a new GX cranckset? What do you think about this configuration? Is there a difference in terms of functionality between the new GX and the new X01 derraileurs?

I totally recommend going with the GX rear derailleur and the XO1 cassette. I think that's the ideal combo for cost and weight savings. The chain is a matter of personal preference, and in my case vanity because I wanted to get the black one. I'm still running my old GX crank set, so you'll be good with that for sure.

I'm currently on GX 11 speed with 11-46t sunrace cassette. Upgrading to Eagle X01 new derailleur and shifter (52 teeth) with e*Thirteen 9-46 cassette. Also building a whole new bike. How do the derailleur and shifter compare to GX 11 speed?

    • @NeverProMTB
      @NeverProMTB  4 роки тому +1

If the shifting is any smoother, I can't really tell. If I was going to do it over again, I'd still go with the XO1 cassette for the weight savings, but drop back down to the GX for the shifter and derailleur to save a few bucks.
What made you choose the e*thirteen cassette? I haven't tried any of their components yet.

@@NeverProMTB Honestly, I gave e*Thirteen a shot because they were west-coast based and seemed to have a good following. I had an issue with their cranks, and they were super helpful customer service-wise. Then, I realized I had a Pro Deal through ExpertVoice with them, and ordered the cassette (with chain and conversion kit), carbon bars, and plus stem. The alignment graphics were crooked on the handlebars, and they refunded them :)
Haven't used any of the new stuff yet, but I use my bike for commuting, so a 32t oval with 9t rear cog will help keep speeds up. I see a lot of your videos are in Oregon. I live in Portland!
I like that the X01 uses the ball bearing for the shifter, along with the metal lever and red colorway. Suppose the vanity and promise of increased durability wins out for me.

Good customer service goes a long way with me. I definitely believe the x01 claims of durability, just not sure that I'll reach end of life on a GX. YMMV.
I'm based in Hood River, so more Portland area trail rides to come!

Nice! I'd like to get out to Hood River eventually. I follow Dustin Klein, and he's done a ton of awesome rides out there.
