This is great!! Thank you! The pattern making tips are great! Everything you discussed is exactly what I want to do to a really pretty, albeit rather plain black fitted cape that bottoms up the front. I'm a novice so I hope I can pull it off without destroying it! lol I'm going to add a collar for sure but I have this gorgeous piece of thick black and gold embroidered fabric that would be stunning. And I will definitely change out the boring buttons big plastic buttons to vintage gold. And also I'm thinking about giving it a bit of an Edwardian look by adding maybe 1 or 2 shorter half circle shorter capes to get that cool multi tiered vintage look. Definitely add some gold trim and maybe some tassels.... though I hope I don't look like Carol Burnett in her famous Gone With The Wind parody!! lol. It's rather fitted so I was thinking of opening up the back and adding some extra fullness but that might be above and beyond my capabilities! Maybe I should get a pattern and make a new one that has more fullness.
What a great idea! Gorgeous collar and you could make it for so many different coats, jackets and more...
Thanks Shannon Fabrics! It was really fun to make this collar from the lovely Luxe cuddle Fabric and it's even more fun to wear it :-)
