    This is brilliant! I've never seen an E-Type from this filming angle.

    Wow, I remember this day. Hole alignment for the rear suspension through bolts was a task. I was wrong in the video, we had to attach the rearmost mounts first. Fun times, thanks for having me.

      As I said Richard, you need to come back, as we soon fire up the two engine 🙂. You are welcome any time.

      I got mine up yesterday. Long day! I arranged the mounts as shown, except the long bolts at the front I put in from the outside. It looks like the stud at the rear is not going to go in, but there is enough flex in the mount to make it go. I had some trouble with the speed bleeders, hard to get them to stop weeping.

      It is never easy, it always takes some persuading. and wiggling. But a great relief when done. 👍

      It's great that you 2 get along so well . I'm sure you both swap your knowledge and tease each other too 😂 So Makiel did you rebuild that engine or was it assemblied already ? Takecare 😊

    • @JaguarEType
      @JaguarEType  7 місяців тому

      The engine was mechanically done by a machine shop, but I had to assemble the thing and set the steering and ignition. Head was also done by the engine builder. Simply thought I would never need the tools, and skills to do the engine when I started the first car and that is what happened with every car I did. 😜 All other components on the engine is also my task again. The flex plate required some searching to find the right man. Always some unpredictable things as you know.

    Michael, you are a true gentleman working on a gentleman's car. I had forgotten how special the engineering on the E type was especially given the time period. Thank you for the deep dive into the various components and idiosyncrasies of Jaguar production. A true pleasure to watch your videos!

      Hi Terry, many thanks for watching. It is always a pleasure to understand and work on these cars. The old days engineering is pretty much straight forward and understandable from these days. It tells you right away how far the engineering was and with every car onwards, some improvement and changes were made. This automatic gear box with the oil cooling pipes to the regular modified radiator is such a thing. We are loving it. Can not wait for the day to do the first spin. Keep watching 👍

      Time was flying, as you can imagine. It is twice as much fun, although we do not always agree but learn very much from each other. The good thing with the late hours was, Richard's father was up and we could simply give him a call. Great fun and great progress. Only filming takes away some time but hope it motivates some of the other guys working on their cars too. 🔧 🔩⚙️ Thanks for watching.

      You can bet, you can bet. Half the time is fun, the other half is learning. Screwing and mounting is donw on its own. So much fun with Richard, always a funny comment. Keeps us laughing 😆, good to see the younger ones coming up and having the skills to engage other young people with jokes and slangs. But we are also making massive progress on cars, what takes so much time on your own, is solved and done in an instant. We still are facing some challenges and it is good that approach them different ways. Everyone should have a mate to share his passion and learn from each other. Save the E Types. 👍 and thank you for your comment. Always appreciated. 🙏

    Hello Maikel, what a great video with Richard. But in the near future, everyone in the workshop will also need work clothes. So you have to have new Workshop Regulation. It was interesting how you can change your clothes in a second from black t-shirt and jeans back to the green Overall. You Are fastet than all now‘n Actors.
    Best wishes out of our Holiday Time, Dieter, and Sabine too. Your Header Tank Specialist. We will see us in next Time.

      Good day Dieter, many thanks for watching, Now you have seen how the IRS slides in 😅😅 you can do it on your own, but in two, it is a lot more fun 😁.
      Videos always do require some cutting as sometimes, in the heat, you forget something and have recorded before. We are mechanics in first place and no actors or directors. I thought it is important to show, not to forget the hand brake cable, the prop shaft, the steering column, the oil inlet for the auto gear box and the oil cooling line before everything goes in. You like my overall right 😉.

    Great video gents, I absolutely love the attention to detail. On the subject of 2+2s, I just dropped the IRS from mine, and something tells me that’s the easy part!! As both you and Richard
    @RichardMichaelOwen are renowned experts on the E Types I have a question for you about a part that I’ve not seen covered in any E Type video. Im restoring my1970 2+2 and it has a breather tank, with 4 small hoses running to it, that’s tucked up inside the rear of the left rear quarter/wing. I managed to get the hoses off, that I labeled, and the 2 small self tappers, but how in the #### get it out! The gas filler tube is in the way. I can’t believe they built the car around it! Any help would be much appreciated, and thank you in advance 👍🏻 Keep posting these great videos, both of you

    • @JaguarEType
      @JaguarEType  3 місяці тому

      @colinwheeler2912 I am not exactly sure what hoses you are talking about. On the S1, there is a small breather hose from the fuel tank to the inlet stud ( high up in horizontal position pointing to the rear of the car) and another overflow hose from the stud next to the inlet down to the trunk floor. You see one hole from the top when you open the fuel filler flap and hole from underneath.3rd hose is the short, wide fuel inlet hose you mentioned. Can not think of anything else in that area. Hope this helps. Good luck 👍

    All was interesting as you dropped the car (with the option of raising the pallet jack should the lifts drop rate be too rapid) and there was a couple of inches left to go. The best part was coming. Final jimmying to get the bush ears over the chassis and the back ones stud into that slotted hole; then we get to see the bolts being inserted and the nuts fitted too.................no, we didnt. Just like Hollywood, the best part ended up on the cutting room floor. Over and out

    • @JaguarEType
      @JaguarEType  7 місяців тому

      @stevepops4450 Many thanks for your comment. Much appreciated. It is not that easy as it seems, you are totally right.I did not want to waste the viewers time watching how to fiddle in 16 studs. It is all the same procedure. Thanks to the rubber, you can twist, turn and wiggle them in. Some are easy some are harder. We used a tapered tommy bar (from the early S1 tool rolls 😂) to align the holes. And yes, as you could see, we also used the floor lift to lift the IRS from the prop shaft side to ease the alignment of the holes. From the past videos, I learned that the majority of the viewers are not too much interested into these details and switch off what has a negative impact on the UA-cam ranking. Hence I prefer to have these extra detailed videos on my website www.etypes1.com in the members/Insiders area. There you will find many interesting technical videos. Thanks for joining. You can also ask me to create tutorial videos. Best Maikel
